I haven't RTFT so sorry if this has been commented on already, but does anyone know what the Boots Ultimate Advent Calendar will contain?

smallshinybutton · 26/09/2023 21:03

Buying a bundle of samples off ebay and making my own for the teens this year

pinkchampagne1 · 27/09/2023 07:35

I am following this thread with interest as I am undecided as to which calendar to go for this year. I have had JL for the last few years but it has gone up in price this year and lots of the contents look the same.

There is a Boots ultimate beauty calendar that is yet to be released. Looks like it has full sizes and features some of the new future renew products. They haven’t released a full list of contents but you can join the wait list.

Thoughts on the Vogue Advent Calendar? I’m considering that or F&M

Stokey · 27/09/2023 08:25

I feel like Charlotte Tilbury normally does a 12 day one, does anyone remember?

BaconAndAvocado · 27/09/2023 08:51

Finally done it.

Had already got Next and Macmillan.

Just ordered LOOKFANTASTIC, a lot of full size products in it.

I'm a beauty AC newbie so very, very excited!

Now all I have to do is stop myself from getting the M and S AC in October 😭

AprilLady · 27/09/2023 09:04

@pinkchampagne1 Boots have a premium, multi-brand calendar out now (link above) and then are still to release a No. 7 Ultimate calendar that I think will have only No. 7 products.

@DarlingCoffee I thought the Vogue Calendar looked great, but expensive. I’ve gone for it anyway this year, as it was the one that really excited me.

@stokey, there is a CT twelve day calendar, on sale now - details on the beauty advent calendar site. There is quite a bit of skincare rather than make-up and mostly travel sizes, but costs £160.

DarlingCoffee · 27/09/2023 09:14

Thanks @AprilLady yes I’m wondering if it’s worth the investment! It does look so beautiful…sigh!!

It’s odd that Charlotte Tilbury stuck a load of sample sizes in their own advent calendar but gifted eyeshadow palettes to other calendars. Therefore it was a no from me this year and so I bought DD the Selfridges calendar.

Tambatamba · 27/09/2023 11:43

Can anyone recommend what the best beauty calendar is for 19 year old? Most of the calendars have lots of anti ageing, which she won't need yet.

MidnightMeltdown · 27/09/2023 12:21

@Tambatamba

It depends on how much you want to spend. I think that calendars like Look Fantastic and Glossybox are mainly aimed at teenagers. However, I notice that teens these days tend to have much higher standards than we did at that age, so maybe she won't be happy with that!

MidnightMeltdown · 27/09/2023 12:24

At the higher end, I would say that CB and space nk are more aimed at the younger end if the market, whereas department stores tend to target older women.

Selfridges is younger trendy market but pricey.
I gave DD the ASOS one a few years ago which was a hit.
Sephora also trendy.

MavisMcMinty · 27/09/2023 13:27

Well I’ve done it! Bought the Liberty AC using all my Beauty Drop credit and £100 of “my own” money, with £10 off.

Woo-hoo! Think I’m the only poster here who actually wants the bracelet, the mirror and the hair clips.

Really thought I wasn’t going to get an AC this year, I’ve surprised myself tbh. FOMO I think.

Is it the Liberty one that has the disappointing Christmas day drawer? I don’t want to look at the contents now I’ve bought it, keep them a surprise.

QueefofSheena · 27/09/2023 13:46

@MavisMcMinty that's great. I'm really looking forward to opening mine, especially the bracelet. See you on the opening thread 😊

Liberty Christmas day is REALLY good

CinnamonCoffee · 27/09/2023 15:11

Personally I think liberty Xmas day is awful. Terrible in fact. I'm taking it out and replacing it with something else.

Well I got cult beauty for me because of the anti ageing products - surely they aren't aimed at the under 25s? Yes I agree that Selfridges is good for that age group - it has a lot of make up.

LaBrujaPiruja · 27/09/2023 15:25

I feel I NEED Vogue. I do not like yellow “gold” so I am still undecided. Is the Foreo UFO 3 Mini good? This could be the decisive factor for me.

Has the Liberty AC gone on general sale now? It's still just giving me the option to register an interest.

It goes on general sale tomorrow according to the email I had this morning.

Roundaboot · 27/09/2023 16:24

I think the bracelet in Liberty is really pretty! Unfortunately the calendar is out of my price range. Maybe next year...

I've been flip flopping between Boots Premier and JL all week. Boots Premier is really good value, especially when you start factoring in things like 4.5% cashback on Quidco and 200 Boots points but I'm not overly excited by any of the products in there and really don't like the make up shades.
On the other hand, JL has lots of hair products that I won't use and I also realised that it has no face cream at all, which is a little odd.
BUT JL does have that luxe factor (for me!) and lots of products I'd be pleased to get, so I think I'm going to go for it, try to flog the hair products on Vinted and use the money to treat myself to a fancier than usual face cream.
I am going to hold out in the hope for a GWP or Black Friday reduction

Me too. It's quite shocking after years of nice candles or Le Labo that they think that this ubiquitous item is Christmas Day worthy!

Babysharkdoodoodood · 27/09/2023 16:39

Ooops. Boots premium fell into my basket and then PayPal 'accidentally' paid for it. Grin
