Are we going to buy or have we peaked?

@BakeOffRewatch glad to help! I actually emailed Vogue Club a couple of days ago to find out whether their 20% club discount would apply to the calendar. I’ve not yet had a response. Will let you know if I do.

pepperaunt · 20/09/2023 13:26

Having missed the Liberty AC last year, I panic bought the Harrods one this year (plus, Harrods points). I’m keeping it sealed in its shipping box so I’m not tempted to peek! Diptique is calling to me but it’s just too expensive

Doubleraspberry · 20/09/2023 13:51

@Growlybear83 I am now vaguely considering Jo Loves over Diptyque, as I've got to the point where I have most of the Diptyque perfumes I know I love in some form of other, and the full sized voucher for Jo Loves is tempting. But then I mostly want Diptyque for the candles and Jo Loves has fewer. It's tricky. Both are HOW MUCH? so I want to make the right decision!

QueefofSheena · 20/09/2023 13:51

I think I might seriously consider Penhaligons next year. I've got enough skincare etc. to last ages now

Possimpible · 20/09/2023 14:18

@Doubleraspberry But then the candles in Diptyque are SO small. Tbf the only candles I've had that were that small were Rituals and had next to no scent, maybe the posher ones are worth it?

@QueefofSheena I'm feeling the same for this year, but with Jo Loves. I'm between that, Sephora, JLP and Vogue. I thought Sephora was a shoo-in but the more I look at it the more I go off it - do I really need any more exfoliants, lipsticks or hair masks?! I already have my favourites anyway. I'm planning to do my equivalent of the spreadsheet to see if there's a clear winner (hopefully it will be one of the <£200 ones!)

BakeOffRewatch · 20/09/2023 14:23

Has anyone seen any influencer, blogger or social media coverage of the Vogue one? Like the unboxings - or are most of the unboxings after they’re on sale rather than marketing? Though lack of social media coverage makes me want it more …

The Diptyque small candles are still great. You get an excellent scent off them - I think even the small ones have a burn time of 20 hours.

I had an unused mini that the cat knocked off a shelf and it broke. DH chucked it away, to my horror, and his, when I told him it was worth £35.

MidnightMeltdown · 20/09/2023 14:52

@Possimpible yeah I feel the same about Sephora. When I first saw it I thought I'd get it, but after looking in more detail, I went off it.

I really don't want more AA oil or Neom candles, and I also have enough Kate Somerville, bum bum cream, Ren eye cream, red nail polish, sheet masks and mascara to last me 2024 and beyond! Won't use the palette or the eyeliner

They also don't state the lipstick shades which for me is often a deciding factor. I hate it when they send out 'various shades' so that you don't know what you're getting!

QueefofSheena · 20/09/2023 14:52

@Possimpible I forgot about Jo Loves!

I've got one of those candle lamp things that melt the wax. They are supposed to make the candle last longer. Seems to work and really scents the house. I've used it to melt and decant a really nice candle that I knocked over and broke too. I'm not great at remembering to blow them out 😬 so it's ideal for me.

ClarkWGreaseball · 20/09/2023 16:35

Harrods arrived this afternoon so along with my Space NO, that's two new members to welcome to the fam

Waiting on Selfridges to be delivered next and then I feel I've reached my limit.

Although I keep looking out for Net A Porter release date ... seems to be taking ages

Squishmymallow · 20/09/2023 16:51

For anyone thinking of Sephora the code FLASH15 takes 15% off at the moment (not sure how long it’s valid for though)

I’m still undecided but now thinking maybe CB after all!

ACAC2023 · 20/09/2023 17:00

I’ve been following this thread for a while & keep looking at the Vogue Calendar, which I wouldn’t have known about if it wasn’t for this thread😁.
Does anyone know of a discount code, it’s so expensive & I don’t want any of the jewellery but really like the look of the calendar.

BakeOffRewatch · 20/09/2023 17:21

Twinsandsome · 15/09/2023 19:43

@BakeOffRewatch I’m not sure if it works or not but I’m almost sure I have a code on my bluelight card for vogue your welcome to try it actually looks like it is generic so I’m sure would work more than once

BLUELIGHT10

@ACAC2023 join me on the Vogue AC love! Yes it is the priciest, but I think seems worth it if you’ll use everything and it’s so pretty. I see people buying multiple calendars that would be more than £350 with DODs so like that there is one solid offering without any DODs. @Twinsandsome kindly shared a discount code that might work, and people have mentioned Vogue Club which offers 20% off vogue merchandise and is £20 per mont - @AprilLady is checking if that applied to the advent calendar.

Greywhippet · 20/09/2023 17:29

Liberty arrived today! It’s better than I thought it would be but I’m sad that I don’t like Poets of Berlin- loved the sound of it so much!
liberty ‘Tudor’ seems to smell a lot like Penhaligon’s Juniper sling on first sniff

ClarkWGreaseball · 20/09/2023 17:56

Hmm, went for Mintd as well. Anyone seen that? Great skincare items

Possimpible · 20/09/2023 18:07

@Squishmymallow I tried that earlier but the calendar is excluded from that code apparently. And the Blue Light Card codes. The 10% off for Sephora Favourites worked though (although I still haven't purchased). @MidnightMeltdown funnily enough I'm happy to have as many AA bath oils and full size candles as possible (although Neom wouldn't be my first choice) but yes the palette doesn't look the best, I'd have preferred a CT quad or Natasha Denona mini or something.

@ClarkWGreaseball wow that's a lot of calendars!

ClarkWGreaseball · 20/09/2023 18:46

Yes I've gone for it this year - saved a bit, had points built up for one and another is a gift

How did you get it already? I thought it wasn't released til October?

Mine is due tomorrow. I'll try to resist the urge to open all the drawers and test everything.

You are my advent calendar twin! I've also got Harrods and Space NK

Was considering Selfridges or Mint'd as a third option. I want to see an unboxing of Selfridges first though. Will probably only order Mintd if there's a discount like last year.

What's Poets of Berlin like? Is it very sweet?

Squishmymallow · 20/09/2023 20:18

@Possimpible thats weird - it took 15% off for me when I tried it. I didn’t buy it though and they’ve now emailed saying I can have 15% off because I left it in my basket. Code is BASKET15 if that helps you? I’m not buying/using the code anyway 😊

Possimpible · 20/09/2023 20:36

@Squishmymallow that is odd! Especially as I also left it in my basket but just got an 'oi you forgot something' email. That's very kind of you, and I have a £5 rewards voucher which would bring it to £155... it is tempting

Twinsandsome · 20/09/2023 20:52

I would love the diptyque for the candles only because I am so funny about perfume there is only two perfumes I can wear and I haven’t moved away from them in years I wish they did a full candle advent. I’m sitting thinking there’s some bits out of each of the calendars I would love that I should maybe try to buy on eBay and build my own if I could do it for round the same price mark. I love reading what all everyone else is getting and watching unboxing with a nice cup of tea and biscuits x

QueefofSheena · 20/09/2023 21:09

The Mac AC is available now. DC tried to order using the Unidays code (20% plus free lipstick) but it didn't work, not surprising I suppose
