Apparently skinny jeans are back 'in'!

All I can say is 'Ha! Ha!'.

I've still got them in my wardrobe. Won't be fairly embarrassed wearing them now. Will also keep on enjoying me wide legs and 'mum' styles.

It made me giggle, though. It seems that as soon as anyone approaching middle aged wearing any particular style happens then a new an opposite style has to occur! 😂 Well, 'Mwhah, ha, ha!It takes me a while to throw stuff away. So I will remain perfectly cutting edge.😁'.

"Have you seriously got to adulthood not understanding what fashion and trends are?"

@ohboohoo, yes!!! It's wonderfully whimsical and contradictory whilst at the same time conformist with many unwritten rules!

You don't have to succumb to the vagaries of fashion to understand them though.

museumum · 08/09/2023 15:47

Thank goodness it’s in time for winter. I refuse to wear baggy trousers or jeans in the rain after the whole 90s wet flappy denim experience.

Tell me more @ohboohoo!!!

Are you...ahem...fashionable?

I never get why some people seem so offended by the concept that fashion is a thing and styles go in and out of fashion. Why are you so triggered. It's only clothes 🤷🏻‍♀️

PaulaZackMayo · 08/09/2023 15:54

Look fabulous.

meanderingbrook · 08/09/2023 15:54

@ohboohoo not offended. Just bemused. Go on, tell me, what's the bright new thing of fashion you're imagining yourself in this season?

@PaulaZackMayo apparently 'lok' stands for 'laughing out loud ok' in slang. I think it fits too!!!😂

Like I've said above, people should wear what they want and I shall be doing exactly that. But I won't delude myself that everything I like is bang on trend. I don't really care if something I wear is 'in' or not but I'll know whether it is in or not and not desperately cling on to the idea that something unfashionable is still the height of fashion just because I like it.

PaulaZackMayo · 08/09/2023 15:58

I think it's what else you wear with any jeans that make the outfit.

meanderingbrook · 08/09/2023 15:59

@ohboohoo sound to me like you've got a cob on! You have to admit it. Skinnies are in. Do your research gal!!!

@PaulaZackMayo exactly! And I'm wearing me with whatever. So I'll be fine.😁

Of course they are back in certain circles. The 2000 look is huge amongst the young

So hooray for those who want to wear them. But that doesn't mean they were not desperately uncool for the past few years

Missingmyusername · 08/09/2023 16:03

They’re awful.

I can’t believe women are wearing them in this heat either.

Missingmyusername · 08/09/2023 16:03

*but each to their own lol

meanderingbrook · 08/09/2023 16:03

@ohboohoo ah, the years just slip away. I live in the present!

OK, well can someone tell me where I can buy skinny jeans that are exactly like old school Topshop Jamies. But not the elastane monstrosities that Asos is currently trying to pass off as Jamies. Proper denim.

They just look so tight, sweaty, uncomfortable… I’ve turned into my mother. I’ll show myself out 🤣

DancingFroglet · 08/09/2023 16:12

I was waiting for new styles since they came out! I don't like them but I am happy to see all types on the market, and long may they stay there!
I think the whole idea of what is 'in and out' ought to die. All jeans are in, in my opinion.

PaulaZackMayo · 08/09/2023 16:18

I've shorts and a strapless top on. No-one in any kind of jeans at this festival.

Chippy4me · 08/09/2023 16:20

Do skinny jeans or any jeans ever go out of fashion?

I never follow fashion trends (as you can tell) because I like having my own style.

I also don’t understand how something isn’t fashionable at one time and then a couple weeks later it’s fashionable.

A few months ago I met my friend and I was wearing flares and she was actually quite rude about them saying how she’d not seen flares for years and how they’re not fashionable etc.
Within a few days they became fashionable again and then less than 2 weeks later we met and she was wearing flares!
I said I thought you said flares weren’t fashionable and she said they weren’t but they are now.
So less than 2 weeks ago I wasn’t fashionable and then I was really fashionable - it doesn’t make sense to me.

PaulaZackMayo · 08/09/2023 16:24

@Chippy4me I think uou started the fashion then. I love flares.
