I think the Turrell dress would be great for an interview @Snowyowl78.

Firesideknitting · 09/09/2023 23:26

@Countmeout no it’s from piglet in bed… it’s Devine

dudsville · 10/09/2023 17:51

In my readiness for and the absence of a toast sale I've bought things for my bathroom, which now feels like a really special haven, and some nice toiletries and cosmetics. The sale needs to get here before i get myself into debt!

Firesideknitting · 10/09/2023 21:10

@dudsville im trying not to dip into my toast sale fund, I’m off to Margaret Howell next week, so I hope the sale comes before then

Brillenbar47 · 11/09/2023 06:58

Hi - if you have one of the lovely toast quilts have you ever washed it please? I would love one but they are all marked dry clean only - which is not viable for me due to various allergies. Thanks on advance x

Countmeout · 11/09/2023 06:59

A new week, is it this week?

Meantime has anyone tried on the new Alix cotton wool seersucker trousers? These are definitely on my wish list but the sizing seems to be Xs , S, M etc whereas the ones I have are 8,10, etc. I’m wondering what the fit is like.

Stravaig · 11/09/2023 07:46

Just to help the anticipation along, this morning it is my turn to have some previous season items magically reappear on my Wish List!
Still at full price though ...

@Countmeout Curious about this too, I like the blue check seersucker fabric.

Snowyowl78 · 11/09/2023 08:25

I had a Christmas hamper appear on my wish list!

thanks @dudsville @ScottishMouse hopefully the Turrell will seal the deal for me!

dudsville · 11/09/2023 09:52

Good luck @Snowyowl78 , I'm sure wearing today will be a big comfort and confidence boost!

ScottishMouse · 11/09/2023 10:26

Good luck with the interview @Snowyowl78

@Brillenbar47 , I have two and have washed them both in the machine at 30. They washed perfectly, no problems at all.

Firesideknitting · 11/09/2023 10:43

@Brillenbar47 yep I wash all mine at 30, never a problem…

faustina · 11/09/2023 11:27

@Snowyowl78 - good luck for today!

Brillenbar47 · 11/09/2023 12:22

Thank you @ScottishMouse and @Firesideknitting hopefully one will land in the sale

Countmeout · 11/09/2023 15:23

Hope it goes / went well @Snowyowl78 .

First day back in UK and I happened to be near Toast Mayfair ,lovely shop and such friendly helpful assistants.
I returned The Trousers , just not a great shape for me , so took the opportunity the try two of my standout pieces .
First the Tie Waist Geometric Print Dress, breathtaking quirky fabric in my perfect colours . I took XS and was size 8 Toast before. It’s quite a loose fit with the ties starting at the front.
Sadly I find it makes me look rectangular and masculine from the front. but OK from the side. I think it will look amazing on an hourglass shape, it is gorgeous.
Definitely take your old Toast size .

Next The Coat . Nearly bought it there and then , but I’ve a ton of crap lying around after 4 months away , and I want to Spring clean my wardrobe first !
I don’t really need a Winter coat , but I’ve wanted a loose slouchy coat with attitude in dull green for ages.
I took a size M. which is one or two sizes up from my old Toast size. I wanted a slightly oversized fit . The colour IRL is much greener.
Definitely New Sizing cut smallish.
Loved the look of the dress under it ….

Other observations : The orange cord is very bright , too much for me.
The grey Donegal jumper looked lovely and felt OK, but the orange version felt really coarse and scratchy.
The embroidered skirt is heaven, but so overpriced considering that only a tiny bit is hand stitched. One for a Sale .

Love both on you @OftenOrange . What height are you?

Thanks for the info on the feel of the Donegal sweater.

OftenOrange · 11/09/2023 17:31

I’m 5’ 5’’
Meant to add that the sleeves of the Coat size M were slightly too short , not as bad as last years dark green coat which looked noticeably so, and it won’t stop me buying it .

MsDastardley · 11/09/2023 17:35

OftenOrange I think you look fabulous in both. The dress really suits you.

dudsville · 11/09/2023 17:37

An enviable trip to try The Coat @OftenOrange, it looks great. I didn't realise how deep the pockets are. The dress is really pretty, but The Coat 😍!

SmartHamster · 11/09/2023 18:51

That coat is gorgeous! I tbink it would drown me but it looks great there 😍

Talking of winter, does anyone here have the Bud Check dress from a few years ago? How do you style it? I'm trying to sort my winter 'keepers' and am undecided about this one.

Countmeout · 11/09/2023 19:14

I have it @SmartHamster , bought in a not too distant sale. I almost put it on the other day but it felt too dark atm. I plan to wear it with a Cumin (maybe) jumper as the weather grows cooler. I will probably see it as an Autumn / early spring dress.

Dee1224 · 11/09/2023 20:06

That coat looks lovely @OftenOrange !

dudsville · 11/09/2023 20:11

I also have the bud check. I love it and have worn it throughout the year. My work place is warm so when I go in winter I don't need anything other than tights and boots, but for home and out I would love to find the perfect jumper. I have slightly cropped cardigans from arket. They're OK but bulky. In summer i find it's a loose enough fit to be airy enough to wear on its own. Would love to see how you style/pair it @Countmeout .

I nearly wore it today and wish i had. Instead I wore the fir check, the one with the fabric that's part or whole manmade. I was forcing it as I never choose it. I just hate the feel of the fabric. I'm going to try it again in winter with a vest and tights on underneath, but if it still doesn't feel OK i may be moving it in to a respectable home.

Snowyowl78 · 12/09/2023 04:11

Hope the interview went well @Snowyowl78!

@OftenOrange Such loveliness. The size M coat is the perfect cool oversized fit. I can't get past how perfect the dress colours are on you 😍, but if you don't love the shape, fair enough. What 'season' would you say it and you are?

Wearing my ebay chalkboard dress today, it is a tad short on me (just below the knee) at 5'7" but there's a decent amount of hem so I may try letting it down.
