@OftenOrange I’ll give them another try tomorrow, and tighten them up a bit more to see if that helps.

Noodle421 · 25/09/2023 20:50

Can anyone advise about sizing for cashmere cardigans pls

ToastCosILoveIt · 25/09/2023 20:54

@PretLea , I have the Linas and am small of ankle too. Like @OftenOrange , I tie them tight and they fit really well either with or without socks.

mizu · 26/09/2023 07:13

Just bought this dress on Vinted. Reviews say to size down so I have fingers crossed 🤞🏼 it fits !

I'm selling a few things on eBay including an old TOAST denim dress but couldn't resist this one. Anyone got it?

Stoic123 · 26/09/2023 07:33

@mizu - yes, I have it and it definitely comes up large. At least one size down needed.

I wear it a lot - suits a lot of tees, shirts and jumpers. A real workhorse in my wardrobe.

Alpacasoft · 26/09/2023 07:58

@mizu I have 2 of those, it's an absolute staple in my wardrobe.
I went down 2 sizes.

Talking of doubling up I also bought last autumn's denim shirtdress for a bargain price on a resale site so that I have one smartish and one for everyday .
I am going to order the shirtdress in a medium @dudsville
It's such beautiful fabric and it might just be the sizing.

mizu · 26/09/2023 08:35

Ah that's good to know, thank you both. I'm a 10-12 and the dress is an 8 so hopefully ok. I'm hoping it will be a workhorse dress too!

OftenOrange · 26/09/2023 11:50

@mizu I just love the dress , is it from a recent season ?
I’m currently giving my indigo pinafore from 5 yrs ago, mid calf and narrow, some use after never being able to wear it as tights cling to the front when I walk causing a very inelegant tuck! Yours has a lovely flare, how lucky to find it on Vinted!
This year I’m doing socks / sandals and socks/ boots with dresses and hoping to make it feel ‘normal’ .

mizu · 26/09/2023 12:17

@OftenOrange apparently it's this season! I do love a TOAST denim dress. Looking forward to getting it already.

OftenOrange · 26/09/2023 12:32

No buyer’s remorse today , I’ve tried the green Fracap boots with dresses , jeans and long gathered skirts and am delighted . They are sufficiently different to my other footwear , and a much darker green than my shoes.
Comfortable straight out of box, lovely supple leather ( similar texture to Lina)
Came with second or laces in brighter green and a brush ( maybe for soles?)
Much neater than the Solovair lace up boots that have served well for 3 yrs.
Sizing wise I’m standard 39 and they fit well with room for socks.

Wearing today with indigo pinafore and olive green Emma T shirt .
I’m also EBaying loads of stuff and redirecting funds to things that bring joy 🤩

OftenOrange · 26/09/2023 12:34

Sometimes one new thing opens up a new way of wearing items !

sonjadog · 26/09/2023 12:37

@mizu I have it and I wear it all the time. It is probably one of the items in my wardrobe that I wear the most. In fact, I bought an extra one just in case something happened to the one I have (now I use it for "smart"). It does come up big so you may want to size down from your usual size.

GCAcademic · 26/09/2023 12:41

I’ve just seen the indigo blanket stitch coat and am in love. But it’s so blooming expensive. Has anyone tried this on or bought it, and can either talk me into or out of it?

lordloveadog · 26/09/2023 12:47

I have that coat. It was so insanely expensive especially with euro mark up, I told myself I was just ordering it to try. But I like it so much I have failed to send it back and now it's staying.

Heavy, thick, warm. Understated but has character. XL big enough around shoulders and bust, which isn't always the case on me.

I like the green coat too but suspect it would wear me, also that the shoulders would be too narrow.

The blue one is particularly nice over dresses.

PretLea · 26/09/2023 13:12

@ToastCosILoveIt @OftenOrange I tried the Linas again, and I can’t get on with them. I tied them as tight as I could, but my heels were still starting to hang off the back when walking. Just have to make peace that the style is just not for me. OftenOrange, I love that outfit. Those boots have been on my wish list since they launched, so I’m going to return the Linas and buy them instead. Possibly, your green socks too!

GCAcademic · 26/09/2023 13:18

Ooh thank you @lordloveadog , even if your post is edging me towards more (by far) than I’ve ever spent on a coat! I do almost exclusively wear dresses so it’s good to know that it would work well with those.

Stravaig · 26/09/2023 13:30

The outrage for me is that it's only 47% wool, which doesn't qualify as a coat or a blanket in my eyes! Delicate too, not a desirable quality for any coat of mine.

Of course climate, likely activities, and care shown by wearer will vary ...

GCAcademic · 26/09/2023 13:38

Oh. Well-spotted. I don’t associate Toast with synthetic fabrics, so that is a disappointment, especially at that price.

Stravaig · 26/09/2023 13:43

Sorry! 'Tis a bit shocking.

ilovecherries · 26/09/2023 14:37

I am trying to decide how many toast dresses it’s appropriate to take to Spain for 5 weeks. Dresses are my holiday preference and I need a LOT of sunscreen, though I will now and again have access to a washing machine. So a)5? b)10? c)Are you crazy, that would be like choosing your favourite child, take them all and book an extra bag?

I am drawn towards c) but feel I should stick at b)

OP posts:
GCAcademic · 26/09/2023 14:45

c) would make me a bit nervous. Imagine if your suitcase got lost!

faustina · 26/09/2023 14:52

I would go for C and put some kind of tracker on the cases 😀

About the coat: I think a small percentage of nylon is often added to good coats (eg a proper peacoat etc) for robustness. Perhaps they're trying to avoid bobbling too? Toast coats are a bit notorious for bobbling

Saurus72 · 26/09/2023 15:05

@ilovecherries I’m currently in Italy and brought 10 dresses for 9 days which has been a lunacy. 7 maybe? Have an amazing time!

Countmeout · 26/09/2023 15:15

Have you more than 10 cotton dresses @ilove cherries. It’s still quite warm in southern Spain. I think I would opt for 10 and rotate. I’d also put a couple of those in hand luggage just in case. I’m taking 3 Toast dresses 4 other for two weeks plus shorts and one or two skirts. The 4 other are very much sun dresses. I find I feel some of my cotton dresses are too dark for Spain or too weighty as I get quite warm.

Out of interest how much would people expect to pay for a 100% woollen coat these days? I agree maybe 10% nylon might make it wear better.

It's wool and cotton with 10% nylon which would be to maintain the shape/ stop the bagging effect.
I love wool and cotton but I know its marmite.
Tbh I saw it at the weekend, it's nice but " how much!!!!" went through my head but luckily didn't make it out of my mouth !

I would want yak at that price 🐮
