Unexpected trip to town so decided to " wait" for DH in a Toast shop
Love love love this years colour palette, blues greens, creams and hardly any brown.
Some gorgeous socks, scarves but no fairisle as yet.
Hope it's in the mini drop
Tried the Walnut dress and the check shirt dress.
Walnut made me look dead but a super everyday shape.
I would love different colours
The check shirtdress is where it got wierd.
I thought it looked odd in the photo as that was the shape of the model but no it's the dress.
Positives, nice length,gorgeous fabric
Negatives, it's cut very high at the front and made my fairly perky bust look as if it was very low hanging.
It appears as if its been cut / sewn back to front.
The under arm seam was so far forward it hit my boobs at the front but also there was a big pouch/ pleat of fabric on the front.

So difficult to explain but exactly as if you put a shirt or shirt dress on back to front.
Such a shame
I popped into Seasalt and the check dress looks like a Kin/ Toast colab.
Nice fabric
I got some wool/ cotton fairisle socks and some organic demi roll necks, super soft for layering and £15 off .
I'm pondering the cord dress now.

I'm having a very lazy day here. Wearing the black/ecru check cotton cashmere home pants, an oversized ecru circle tee and pistachio heathery wool sweater, and I'm tucking my feet into a toast wool blanket.

It's this one.
Imagine with a bust, the circled area looks very strange, the front is pulled up right under the bust.
It wasn't tight at all so I think I had the correct size, just excess fabric that served no purpose.

I feared as much, i have my eye on this one. Is it that the arm hole is quite low? I keep meaning to get to a shop but I'm at risk of buying stuff (been in a f*ck it mode!) So i haven't taken the opportunities when they've arisen!

Ah, i can see what you mean, and i think it's visible in this pics. That is weird. Its almost like the bodice is slightly bib-like and the sleeves brought in to it.

If you imagine 32FF bust , the inset bits pouffe out with no purpose.
I might order a medium but the low hanging bust effect wasnt pleasing either.
Such a gorgeous fabric and the skirt hangs beautifully.😥
I am very wide shouldered and they warned me it's very narrow over the shoulders so perhaps that's it?

I often think I’ve too much of everything , but this Winter my footwear all seems passé or uncomfortable , with the exception of the Studio Nicholson brown Kick boots which I still love, and some olive green brogues from Clergerie.

I’ve worn the black Solovair Derby boots for 3 yrs and had to wear them the other night as p**ing down, I’m so over them , comfy but give me bad vibes like school !

I took a look online at Toast and alternatives; the thing with alternatives eg Russell Bromley, JL etc etc is that they are the same price as Toast and boring.
I think I may invest in 2 or 3 Toast feet ,
Chie Mihara square toe black ankle boots
Flower Mountain trainers
??? Fracap green monkey boots

Thinking aloud here , to give an idea of my clobber I’m invariably in ecru or indigo Annie’ jeans, black jean type trousers , Ikat skirt or the occasional airing of a Toast dress from my collection of six.

Any ideas , thoughts gratefully received !
Oh , and of course they need to work but not match The Green Coat

I love all of those @OftenOrange especially the Green Fracap.

However as a lover of boots and shoes I have found Toast are the only company where I’ve had problems with quality, particularly size and finish differences between the left and right shoes. I don’t think I’m the only one as I’ve seen this mentioned on reviews in the past, and I think someone on here made a comment like this recently about the sale Fracap sandals.

I hate shopping in London apart from a couple of local places incl. Toast !
It’s overwhelming and crowded, backin the day I adored it , but now I latch on to a couple of labels to make life easier!

How do you feel about Blundstones @OftenOrange ? I bought mine from Toast probably 3 or 4 years ago and they are the only footwear I wear from sept/oct to mar/apr and they are still great. I noticed in store recently that they have lovely olive coloured waxed suede ones, though I can only see them online in men’s sizing - these ones:

Today I'm wearing the "Ikat Check Wide Sleeve Wrap Jacket Multi", that I bought back in 2020, and never really got out of the box - it matches the "Ida Large Check Cross Back Dress Sand" that I have not worn yet either.
But I discovered that the ikat jacket goes surprisingly well with the Tint Stripe Cotton Poplin Shirt in red cedar/pearl blue from the summer sale and the
Garment Dyed Linen Pull On Trousers in midnight from the recent sale.
So I'm a happy camper!

@OftenOrange , can't help with shoes. I have standard DM lace ups and Shoe The Bear hightop looking boots for winter. But did I miss something, did you get The Coat already or are you thinking in anticipation of getting it later in down the line?!

I'm in this today, it's a little dull, with black leather arizona's, and I've thrown on a scarf to see if i can get over my issues, but it was a last minute choice so didn't make the pic. I like how they wear them thin and neat just inside shirt collars on toast pics. That won't work with today's top but I'm aiming for that. I think I'm just going to have to pretend i normally wear scarves. 🙃

@OftenOrange I second the Blundstone recommendation. I have the lug boots from last year which have slightly chunkier soles. I find a lot of ankle boots (looking at you Grenson) are quite high in the leg, and being short, they dig in at the wrong place for me and are painful. Blundstone are nice and low

Have you had a look at Penelope Chilvers? She does some lovely things

Forgot to add! It's proper summer here today - 22 degrees! I'm wearing a black cos linen tee, some very very old oatmeal linen/cotton wide legged crop Toast trousers and my white Springcourt trainers which I bought a few years ago, thought they were uncomfortable, put in a cupboard and forgot about. Now they are my most comfortable white trainers!

It's this one, I think it was during the land girl phase a few years back. It has a fixed waistband.
