Do we have a boot thread yet? A/W 2023

Ankle boots are usually my absolute comfort zone but with skinny trousers going out of fashion I'm a bit lost. What boots are we all planning to buy/wear this year, and how do I work wider leg trousers into my autumn wardrobe? I live in a cold and wet part of the UK.

@Divebar2021 No need for anything too formal, I can wear DMs to work for example. But I do find my wardrobe on the smart-casual side, I'm not at home in e.g. streetwear. I like Lydia Tomlinson's style but it's not always practical.

I envy the dry footed SE dwellers. We don’t have pavements and of course cars expect you to move out the way onto the damp grass or if they’ve already churned that up then the mud. No lovely suede boots for me. ( lighthearted )

The boot I see put with cropped wide legs in adverts is a slim around the ankle healed boot. I don’t like that combination. I might try a plain ish cowboy boot under them. I think Celine showed that combo.

I thought about this thread when the Me and Em catalogue dropped through the door today - there are literally every kind of boot and shoe in there with all the styles of trouser.

I live in the SE and don’t go outside an awful lot, but I just like wearing boots!

I got some brand new Jimmy Choo biker boots on Vestiaire Collective for £170, which is 80% off. I’d also like some tan heeled knee highs but I already have flat ones so don’t really need anything.

I’ve been enjoying the recommendations here (before the standard ‘weird turn’ that pretty much all S&B posts seem to undergo these days)

They seem to fly a bit under the radar, especially compared to Dubarry, which is a little more expensive. You may be lucky and find a good pair on Vinted if you keep an eye open!

Beautiful- what's the sizing like? I am sometimes a 5 and sometimes a 6 but have taken a chance on some gold 5s as no 6s left!

I currently have some faux fur lined DM Chelsea boots still in the box I can't decide on- I'm not usually a DM-wearer and they seem so clumpy

There is a sizing guide in the chat. Most are roomy apparently. But the ones I bought are perfectly to size. I’m a 6 and the 6 fits a treat. Not much room around my foot when I tried them on with socks to check out the size but I’d only ever wear them with tights. The inner is so soft I wore them all day on the first wear. Great.

@hinterkitten is it the Leonore ones? I got a pair a couple of years ago and they've hardly been off my feet. Wore them a lot with skinny jeans but now they're past their best they've been relegated to dog walking. Very comfortable and practical though.

I’m really interested in Lanxshoes @DancingFroglet - I think they could look classic, hipster, folky etc depending how they’re worn. I can’t decide between boots and shoes though.

I'm going with Dr Martens Spence heeled Chelsea boots! I've got a million different boots but these will be this years but! I will wear them with tights or skinny jeans because erm I couldn't give a fuck whether they're on or out of so called 'fashion'!

Update that I got my gold size 5 Mar Y Viento boots and I have never loved a pair of boots more! They are so soft so far I've worn them without any socks or tights at all but should fit perfectly with tights too.
