Do we have a boot thread yet? A/W 2023

Ankle boots are usually my absolute comfort zone but with skinny trousers going out of fashion I'm a bit lost. What boots are we all planning to buy/wear this year, and how do I work wider leg trousers into my autumn wardrobe? I live in a cold and wet part of the UK.

I don’t want to go back to long boots just yet, I’m my head they still feel dated.
I’m after black flat Chelsea boots that are beautiful and non-frumpy if anyone sees any

@BHRK I love Chelsea boots. I was tempted by these M&S ones earlier but although they'd be lovely with skirts and black tights I can't see how they'd work with jeans and trousers, and I have a heeled pair that looks nice with skirts already. So I've ordered chunky ones from ASOS (Dune and & other stories ) to see how they look. Way out of my comfort zone so they may be going back!

Thank you, they are replacing a pair I bought in Clarks sale about twelve years ago. They have been soled and heeled in that time, but they are kind of done now.

I think the neater ones can work with a heel like the ones above. If flat then a chunky Docs style or platform works.

I got these Fly London boots last year to wear under wider, ankle-length jeans and they worked well. I have the Russell & Bromley ones upthread in my basket already but they don’t have the size I think I need so I haven’t committed just yet. They were what prompted me to come on and see if there was a boot thread so I’m glad someone else liked them. I bought some long boots from Dune last year but never wore them so need to dig them out!

Any help with biker boots? I’ve been staring at Miu Miu boots for a few days, but there is no universe in which I would pay that much for shoes. I love the style though. I would need black, and want leather (not the plastic H&M version).

Can I be brave enough for a knee high? And how on earth to style it?

Thanks in advance, I’m completely clueless and stuck in a rut, fashion wise 😶

Knee highs are great in that you can look smart with a long coat and knee-high boots regardless of what you have underneath.

I'd style them with wide-legged culottes, short skirts and dresses, midi skirts and dresses, and skinny jeans/leggings.

I saw someone with dark green biker boots the other day. There is nothing in my wardrobe that would go with them but I’m totally focused on finding them now and nothing else will do. I’m ridiculous.

Footwear is always the issue with a wide leg trouser. Personally I think chunky flat lace ups look best, or flat forms.
