Ankle boots are usually my absolute comfort zone but with skinny trousers going out of fashion I'm a bit lost. What boots are we all planning to buy/wear this year, and how do I work wider leg trousers into my autumn wardrobe? I live in a cold and wet part of the UK.

The Langho are chunkier than I would wear, but they're still nice. They're just a boot with a good sturdy sole. There are other boots on here which are almost parodies of a good sturdy boot.

@ilovemydogmore you’ve reminded me that I have a pair similar to the first boots you’ve linked to that I haven’t worn in a few years, I need to dig them out as I really liked them.

@OriginalFloorboards , If you want fashion boots, look up 'cowboy boots' and all the high street sites like New Look etc have them.

If you want proper cowboy boots, I'd try Frye, Ariat etc.

I like those red Seasalt ones.

I recommend Hudson. I've bought a lot of their boots/shoes over the year, they're great quality and rather cool!
Right now I keep seeing the ad for the Birkenstock Uppsala shearling boots and I am so tempted by the graphite colour.

Those are (apart from the Lanx and Joseph Cheaney boots I already own) the only boots on this thread I'd buy.

I have never seen so many boots I like in a mumsnet post! Usually I ask for opinions on something I like and I don't get very positive feedback . I am really short and walk a lot, so I need comfortable heels. The current chunky trend is a godsend for me and I find Zalando really excellent. Currently waiting for these to come back in stock in my size:

Maybe try these on if you can first. Although not exactly the same, but some years back I bought the Clemency heeled Docs. They were a right pita to break in, and I sold them eventually, completely defeated. I do have normal pair which I broke in just fine, so I don't think it was just my feet. I feel like it was the angle due to the heel which was part of the problem.

They are beautiful though.

They are expensive but I have 3 pairs of Dear Frances boots and they are both timeless and feel very luxurious. I feel special getting them out each year!!

I wish more websites would show shoes and boots actually on people. I find it really hard to picture them when they just photograph the footwear.

Also some that do show footwear being worn have models wearing items so obviously the wrong size it’s comical.

@artis1 , thanks for the link. I wouldn't recommend the high street ones, other than as throwaway fashion, but the lucchese look like they'd last a lifetime if looked after.

I much prefer solovair to Dr Martens. Docs are now made in China and the quality is not great. Solovair made in UK.

I'm sticking with my DMs mostly but I do miss heels.

I wish shoe boots would come back. I loved those bad boys with black opaque tights.
