Do we have a boot thread yet? A/W 2023

Ankle boots are usually my absolute comfort zone but with skinny trousers going out of fashion I'm a bit lost. What boots are we all planning to buy/wear this year, and how do I work wider leg trousers into my autumn wardrobe? I live in a cold and wet part of the UK.

Particulalry after suggestions for boots suitable for mid/maxi dresses, or skirts/dresses and tights.

Purplecatshopaholic · 01/09/2023 11:36

Biker boots all the way for me at the moment. Have some ankle ones, and ones that come up the calf a bit. Ace to wear with most things I think.

MetaDaughter · 01/09/2023 11:44

I bought some reddish brown knee high boots in the Matches sale, so I’m having to ban myself from buying any more trousers this year. My aim is to make full use of all my slightly neglected skirts and dresses. (But now all my coats and jackets look wrong …)

DeliciouslyDecadent · 01/09/2023 11:57

Is anyone going for knee length boots?

I have a pair that are quite old (but okay- flat, biker-ish style) and I'm wondering whether to invest (yes- about £200) in a new pair to wear with dresses.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/09/2023 12:00

I’ve bought some over the knee black suede ones with a small block heel. Plan to wear with midi dresses and skirts.

Have also got heeled tan knee highs that haven’t had much wear yet, so need to get used to walking in them!

Otherwise, I’ve got multiple pairs of Seasalt brogue ankle boots and various pairs of heeled ankle boots, my favourite of which are block heeled black suede.

EllaPaella · 01/09/2023 14:08

I just got these which I love https://stevemadden.co.uk/products/skylar-black-leather?variant=34427051638921&gclid=Cj0KCQjwl8anBhCFARIsAKbbpyQ6Z8T0ozo62L1k--8xmR9ayCTtWM7INDMKGH50PODiNTfNrqE9q8aAjA4EALwwcB
I would like a pair of cowboy style boots as well in a neutral shade but can't decide on a pair I really love.

Possimpible · 01/09/2023 14:27

I like those @EllaPaella , I lurk on the WAYWT and always admire your style. I have a couple of pairs of DMs that are a similar style so feel like I'm covered for chunky ankle boots.

Suede is absolutely no use to me because it rains so much, they'd just get ruined. I bought these Celtic & Co boots last year after seeing them on a MN thread thinking they'd go well with skinnies, but really haven't had any use out of them. Maybe with dresses.

Yes? Well, a wider silhouette is more current. Not sure if you're laughing at me or yourself?

I'm laughing because this always comes up and cue the "prise them out of my dead hands" comments😂

I’m tempted back towards some knee high boots after years in ankle boots. Possibly a dark reddish brown or burgundy colour. I like longer boots with a dress or skirt that covers the top of the boots, no gap in between. @MetaDaughter I love the sound of your new boots.

For shorter boots I am still very happy with all of my AllSaints boots, of which I seem to have acquired numerous pairs, which are great when I want something chunky and comfortable.

Just watching as I’m in the market for some flat ankle boots. Trying not to buy Docs or black.

MetaDaughter · 01/09/2023 15:02

Early last year I bought the 2021 equivalent of these,

https://www.grenson.com/fran-womens-brogue-boots-in-tan-leather/

from Grenson. Never really got on with them, so I’m glad to have something a little more elegant. No stupid laces and an enforced wardrobe re-think - all good.

My beloved black Chelsea boots are at the stage where they’d probably be cheaper to replace than repair (countless resole and re-heelings), so I’m enjoying browsing options, with no immediate intention to buy.

Shop Fran, our womens brogue boots in tan leather. Fran is a full brogue boot with a wingcap and a lightweight, chunky commando rubber sole. Free worldwide returns available.

I've ordered these as they look soft and comfy. I do a lot of dog walking and wear waterproof and sturdy boots so my other footwear needs to be very comfy.

I absolutely love those Celtic boots - they would be perfect with skirts and dresses.

Heeled boots are getting more popular. Cowboy boots are in.
I love my ankle boots and have lots of them. I also have mid-calf boots.

If skinny jeans are out of fashion, why are the shops still selling them?

As always, fashion journalists (the experts) come along and say X is now dated.

Two pages in The Times yesterday on what is 'in' and 'out'.

All a load of bollocks dreamed up by the fashion editor.

KirstenBlest · 01/09/2023 19:48

I don't read The Times, but the fashions selected by The Telegraph's fashion editor are usually not my cup of tea.

The Grensons and the Clark's are lovely.
8-hole boots are a PITA for taking on and off.

AlexandraJJ · 01/09/2023 19:54

I love boots but not bought any for a while although I bought these from Kurt Geiger on Tuesday. Tried to resist and left the shop only to call in again 10 mins later. Very comfortable
