Glow in the dark trousers.

Stand too close to the bonfire and people might start throwing sticks on me.

Trinitybean · 05/09/2023 21:10

Lol they are funky though.

OftenOrange · 05/09/2023 21:31

@No1Mousie @Countmeout @lordloveadog @Saurus72 Thanks all, and for the pairing ideas @Countmeout which I shall investigate.
In fact I wore it tonight as shown , it’s still warm enough here at 11 pm to wear sleeveless but I’ll be back to UK on Saturday and Plano to try some of those ideas.

I am considering buying this Toast like dress from Sainsburys! Every now and then they produce something fabulous and I'm hoping this might be one of those things!

tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc142788315

I love this! I have a really lovely check blouse from Tu from last year, so well made and very Toast. I think it was £18. I’m going to order this dress as well, thanks for the tip.

Laska2Meryls · 05/09/2023 22:05

Ah , yes, that was the piece I was talking about earlier, published in the Observer last Sunday

Countmeout · 06/09/2023 07:57

I read through that this morning. I hate to think the person who sold me the items I purchased on Vinted are agonising over whether they’ve gone to a good home. I just want to assure you they have, non smoking, just one pet, I eat only whole meal bread and drink organic wine ( that last is a lie I buy whatever is cheap, cheerful and red) .

Anyhoo! I’m interested to know how heavy anyone finds the Donegal knits. I bought a scarf in the winter sale and it’s so thick and heavy. Are the jumpers/cardigans the same? I love the graphic yolk Donegal sweater but will I ever be able to wear it except on a day it is minus 10 , my house is quite warm. Did anyone see the grey one on Instagram with navy trousers? I thought it was lovely although the orange one is fantastic too.

Snowyowl78 · 06/09/2023 08:23

@Countmeout I saw the insta grey one, has lovely colourful flecks in it! I think it looks pretty heavy and thick. But good for a cold night?

Noodle421 · 06/09/2023 08:36

@Countmeout I've had no problem with my Donegal knit ( from two seasons ago) being too warm but perhaps this one is a heavier knit?

ilovecherries · 06/09/2023 10:18

I loved that picture of the grey Donegal knit with the indigo trousers.

I’m also exhausted after a sleepless night worrying about my old Toast clothes. Are they loved in their new homes or are they languishing unwashed and moth infested. I’m thinking of doing some sort of recall.

I'm on my way out for coffee and wearing the ruffle neck chambray and the suki breeks.

Looking lovely @ilovecherries. Those are both pieces that I have tried on more than once in the hope I can make them work, but neither is good on me.

Loving all the concern for our old Toast clothing....and there was me just wanting to donate to a charity or raise a bit of extra cash to buy more Toast - I should be ashamed of myself.....

Saurus72 · 06/09/2023 11:13

Ashamed yes - and seeking a way that they may all find their niche in the mushroom foraging space.

faustina · 06/09/2023 11:31

Next time I sell any of my Toast clothes I will do a pre-sale questionnaire and will insist on spot checks monthly via zoom

The grey donegal was beautiful on Insta wasn't it? You would have no idea about all those beautiful coloured flecks from the website

ScottishMouse · 06/09/2023 11:48

I saw the grey Donegal in store and yes, the flecks are beautiful. They stripe Donegal cardigans also have similar flecks, not sure if that is visible on the website. But I also thought it seemed very weighty, and even in a Scottish winter I don’t get much wear out of very thick warm knits as they seem too much indoors and outdoors I would always have a warm coat on at that time of year.

OftenOrange · 06/09/2023 11:58

@ilovecherries Loving that top on you .
@Countmeout I love my Donegal knit from last season , I’m never warm enough and as it’s quite loose I wear a couple of layers under it.

The flecky new Donegal is a beauty , very similar to one I bought from M Howell a couple of years ago. It’s warmer than any of my Toast knits.
In fact so much Toast is pinched from Margaret Howell .

Such naughtiness this morning 😄No toast for you lot, only gruel until further notice.
I love Donegal tweed but have noticed Toast only seem to order stuff in DK or Aran wool. They come in much lighter weights, and also in softer fibres (merino, cashmere), so it's odd when they fail to use these when it would seem more appropriate (colourwork, smaller scarves etc.) I usually knit with the 3ply or fingering weights, Donegal is spun as singles so blooms beautifully at a loose gauge, but can end up stiff enough to stand up on its own at a tight gauge.

Countmeout · 06/09/2023 12:40

Thanks everyone, I’m putting it on my wish list, I love the flecks. I think they lift the grey enough to possibly suit me (wishful thinking maybe). I think I even want it just to look at and enjoy the texture. Maybe I could use it as a piece of art. Agreed the scarf is quite stiff but a thing of beauty.

Warm today, I’m wearing last year’s Alder dress. Perfect for this weather without being too naked.

BettinaInDenmark · 06/09/2023 12:41

Oh and of course also lots of donegal knits

AFingerofFudge · 06/09/2023 13:52

@Countmeout this is a close up
I took last week when I was away and in a real life Toast store

Thanks @AFingerofFudge . Looks amazing.

faustina · 06/09/2023 14:04

If the sale is possibly starting on Thursday, I'm expecting one of you excellent sleuths to discover the secret links today ... or is it earlier on the actual sale day that someone finds them?

My navy donegal (from a different brand) isn't very thick at all, though it is sort of stiff (in a nice way). Next time it's cool enough I'd be very interested to try the orange one - I love the grey but despite many many attempts, grey just doesn't suit me!

dudsville · 06/09/2023 14:41

I haven't got anything interesting to say, brain has been a little melted. In addition to the late summer we're having, I'm having hot flushes again. I'm a swamp. Today I'm in the check dress that a lot of us tried in the last sale. Can't recall the name, it's the one that's got a blueberry coloured base and was reduced to £65 or something.

Really enjoying all the quips about toast's concerns. I was in the post office earlier reading them and chuckling to myself.

I'm also expecting someone to pop on here with news of the sale, I also usually get the email a few hrs later than the first on here. For the last several days when I google toast, a dead link to the end of summer sale pops up, and like a lot of you I also had things appear back in my wish list, so they're definitely working on it.
