@Alpacasoft Agree, I tried on a couple of their SS summer shirts, and they were so beautifully finished! Impressive too, with such lightweight fabric.

Dee1224 · 03/09/2023 14:23

Indeed @ScottishMouse !

Stravaig · 03/09/2023 14:23

@Alpacasoft Actually I'm thinking of Seasalt, off to look at Fat Face after your recommendation :)

Dee1224 · 03/09/2023 14:26

On a different note: I mentioned to a work colleague the other day that I had bought some Toast items on eBay.

She said, in barely disguised horror, ‘You buy secondhand clothes on eBay?’ You’d have thought I had said I fed myself by rummaging through the bins!

I replied that it was greener, cheaper and, well, Toast.

Keeping quiet from now on 🤣

Dee1224 · 03/09/2023 14:29

Also, when looking at Toast on eBay, is it just me that gets bombarded with toast rack listings, which I then start ‘watching’?

I have some Seasalt ones but the absolute centre of my Autumn/ Winter/ Spring wardrobe are the FF long-sleeved organic cotton ones.
They are a nice sturdy weight but so so soft.
I'm frequently in pain due to a long term condition and wearing them next to my skin is so comforting.
I think the oldest is 6 /7 years old and still perfect.

Laska2Meryls · 03/09/2023 14:34

Measurements definitely and I am so bloody pissed off with the new sizing, and that they seem to have forgotten that women have breasts often larger than a B cup.
How come that as a 14 on top I now have to order XL and often find that they are the same as an old - style M or L ? I dont want vanity sizing but I am sure that there's a heck of a lot of their long term returning customers who have been sized out now .
They should have nust introduced a petite range or just added the xxs and left the rest ... That would have suited everyone and probably would have actually grown their customer base ..

😮...
Bonkers..

Stravaig · 03/09/2023 14:37

@Dee1224 I have a fairly extensive search query, in Saved Searches, which filters out all manner of things that would otherwise clutter a purely Toast experience :)

So eg. Toast -rack -tights -Emma - (big list of things I don't want to see)

Dee1224 · 03/09/2023 14:42

Good idea @Stravaig - secretly quite fond of a toast rack, though 🤣

Countmeout · 03/09/2023 14:43

I keep getting those moulds that make patterns on a slice of Toast on Vinted.

I am going to have anxiety now in case they have made the clothes to disappear if I turn out to be unworthy. I will have to check my wardrobe contents hourly!

Lot of twaddle the whole thing. And yes I wish sizing could be sorted out. I thought I had got the hang of it.

faustina · 03/09/2023 14:43

@Dee1224 - what an odd thing to say! I don't know anyone who doesn't happily buy preloved - from a very diverse cross-section of people too

I'm surprised Toast doesn't think about renting some of their clothes. Now that would be successful, especially with their dresses. you could even do a subscription thing (like Liberty)

So many brands have a take-back scheme but they all give you a small discount

Dee1224 · 03/09/2023 14:46

That’s a good idea @faustina !

Saurus72 · 03/09/2023 14:48

@Dee1224 That is so strange about buying preloved - I thought that was something everyone did now, what with Vestiare Collective catering for v high-end. People are nuts.

Dee1224 · 03/09/2023 15:03

I think it was the mention of eBay that did it @Saurus72 🤣

Saurus72 · 03/09/2023 15:04

Also, re: sizing. I bought the green navigation print Bryn dress in March in size medium. I also have the black Luna dress from 2021 which is a very similar shape, that’s size 12. And the harlequin dress, also AW 2021, v similar shape in size 12. So given that the Bryn dress I just bought is in size large, that would indicate they’ve adjusted the sizing by one size. So in theory, it should be straightforward to know what you will be in the ‘new’ sizing.

Except! For 2 other dresses in the new sizing I haven’t seen a change. For the navy dress with looped embroidery the website recommends large and I bought it in medium (generous fit still). And the Selma shirt dress - size 14 recommended but I bought in size 12 and it’s currently at the tailor having darts put in (inspired by @ilovecherries btw!) to try and calm the exuberant skirt down a bit…). Whereas the cord Maya dress has a recommendation of size medium on the website but the large was a great fit in the shop (still undecided about it). All quite mysterious.

Snowyowl78 · 03/09/2023 15:09

@ilovecherries it is rather large, what size is it? Coincidentally I just got one of these from Vinted, it’s an 8 but fits me as a 14! Little bit snug at the back but totally wearable.

My mum is the same. I struggle for conversation with her sometimes and in an effort to steer her away from The World According to the DM I told her (what I thought!) was a mildly amusing anecdote about almost doing an emergency stop outside a charity shop in a strange town as they had a toast dress I’d been looking for for months in the window. I screeched into the first parking space! I ran back! It was my size! And then I had to grapple it off the volunteer because it had been priced by the manager at £35 and the volunteer thought that was a ridiculous price, would never sell etc, all the time I was dancing up and down waving cash and trying not to rip it out of the window. In the middle of the story I realised she was looking at me in utter horror. She could barely whisper ‘you wear second hand clothes??? Do you wear them in the HOUSE??? Have you worn them in MY house????’

@ilovecherries 🤣 That is wild, and brilliantly told!

Stravaig · 03/09/2023 15:54

@Alpacasoft I think I know the ones, they are so soft and cosy.

Dee1224 · 03/09/2023 16:38

That’s so funny @ilovecherries 😂😂😂

ToastCosILoveIt · 03/09/2023 16:41

Liking the Mac on you @ilovecherries , I have the same Mac or similar and love it for spring/autumn. I am sure someone on the Facebook page is looking for one.

mizu · 03/09/2023 17:50

@ilovecherries brilliant story. I have a similar mother.

Saurus72 · 03/09/2023 18:26

Yes, the truth according to the DM, I try to see the funny side but when my mum starts talking about how everyone ‘picked on’ Boris Johnson I think steam definitely comes out of my ears.
