@MrsRadichio , funny timing with your question as I just wore them to brunch! Felt like the perfect item for a casual but nice brunch. I wore them with a same colour boat neck bracelet length sleeved tee and quite light grey arizonas. I got compliments and someone actually flirted with me, that never happens. I look forward to wearing them with jumpers in winter but mine are quite long so it has to be a dry weather choice.

I'm expecting the ecru trousers to be delivered today and one of my questions will be whether they do something in my wardrobe that the dungarees do not.

@Stoic123 , that's so much better than previous freebies, could you post a pic?

ilovecherries · 01/09/2023 12:58

My parchment trousers are in the Swansea black hole.

SPOILER

So, my order arrived with the Kindle Gift.

Keeping both wool cashmere neat jumpers (blue and russet) - they are lovely and I will wear them to death. Might even go for the olive too later on. I would say they are a reasonable colour match to photos. @faustina- I know your
penchant for a blue jumper- would recommend it.

I'm HS 14 and sized up to an XL as I like looser fit jumpers but an L (12-14 on size guide) would have been fine too for those who are happy with a more fitted look. Don't size down.

So the Kindle gift - it's a pair of fair isle socks. I always like a good pair of socks so am very happy with this one.

Edited

OMG that sound like my dream kindred gift!!!

RockaLock · 01/09/2023 13:24

Does anyone know how long the kindred gift is likely to be available for?

I've only just joined the hallowed Kindred ranks, so this is all new to me, but ideally I'd like to be able to wait a few days for my credit card to tick over to a new month before putting an order in Grin

faustina · 01/09/2023 13:31

I get that Facebook madness too - so annoying. It's particularly bad when I've just diplomatically liked someone's awful motivational share (in some parts of the world they are still a thing). Facebook really goes to town when that happens.

@Stoic123 - thank you for the jumper recommendation - yes I have my eye on that one, but someone's just reminded me that we are due another sale so I think I might hold on in case something pops up in that!

@ilovecherries - that's such a good tank. I'm still hunting for one which would suit me - think it needs to be button up, but not fitted, though not too long. Last time I wore tanks (at 14/15) I just pinched my father's - I had a waistcoat from a morning suit, and a thin v neck lambswool one in a kind of muted greeny-blue which was hugely oversized but looked lovely

I wanted to echo my enjoyment of this thread. I’m new here and not a huge contributor, and mostly ask questions. But I really appreciate the support shown here to a new Toastie.

I popped into my local today to request the repair to my pebble dress and saw some of the new items. I ended up getting the smaller size of the wool tencel high neck tees. It seems like there is some stitching (so no raw edges to fray). It does fit tightly but I can see it being helpful for layering later in autumn. I also tried on the humbug marled sweater. The colour is so beautiful but the length was neither here nor there on me, and I think I need something more cropped. They didn’t have the gingham boatneck or the maya dress in store for me to try. The green wool coat is beautiful.

I queried the Kindred gift - it started on the 31/08 and was told it’s until stocks last.

Saurus72 · 01/09/2023 13:48

@Stoic123 Ah those jumpers look really lovely, lucky you. I haven’t received an email about the Kindred gift so maybe I’m not part of it any more? Although I did receive the print a few weeks ago 🤷‍♀️.

My Bryn leaves dress us arriving tomorrow, have high hopes for it!

Trinitybean · 01/09/2023 13:55

@Stoic123 that is tempting, I think a Fairisle sock might help cheer me up, also joining the very very down brigade.

Snowyowl78 · 01/09/2023 13:56

Ooh yay @Stoic123 thats good to hear

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/09/2023 13:58

Echoing the love for the thread and all the support: so much more than just about Toast 🙂.

I had a little visit to Marylebone yesterday to try on the denim wide sleeved jacket. Well, when I got through the door the new collection pulled me in and I almost forgot to look at the jacket. The colours, the cords and the knitwear are just lovely. I almost bought the a-line cord skirt in spruce, same cut as the summer hemp ones and a medium is a size 12 I would say. I tried on the panelled cord trousers in ‘woad’ (blue to us) and their cut is much more flattering on the leg with the tappering in than the pictures suggest. I would probably size down for these as the 10 fitted and I am a 12. The sales assistant said that they stretch a bit with wear (by about half a size) which would make them just right. They are absolutely beautiful, so tempted.

The Graphic Yoke Donegal jumper in persimmon: well, at some point this will find its way into my basket, sublime is too small a word. Comes up big and the small suited my size 12 frame (depends how oversized you like it).

So, I ended up buying three things: the new tie waist geometric print dress which is lovely and fits perfectly in the medium. I am sure I will get a lot of wear out of it as a casual and a more formal dress as it can be dressed up or down. I bought the wide sleeved denim jacket in a medium too, a perfect fit for a 12. I tried the jeans on but wasn’t so sure about them: they are very true to size so the 12 was needed. I saw a young (23ish) girl trying the jeans and jacket on together and she looked fab but I think it might not be the right look for me. I don’t think they flare out quite as much as the online pictures suggest (which is good from my perspective), and the cut is good. I may yet go back to them but I have too many Toast trousers and jeans so trying to be good. The last purchase was the textured scarf in rust, so lovely and I love a good scarf in winter.

They had some lovely wool hats in store too. I saw the blanket stitch coat from afar but it doesn’t appeal to me. I daren’t go in again for fear of spending.

The shop was almost devoid of summer stuff so I wonder if it has been gathered up and sent back to Wales for an imminent sale….

Stravaig · 01/09/2023 14:05

Vicariously enjoying all the new drop chat, and the philosophical digressions into life and loveliness.

Lots of interest in the coats - please do check the composition details carefully, as only the olive houndstooth check is pure wool, the rest are very much blends. Might help decide what gets shuffled to the top of the wishlist, and what gets relegated!

(Working very hard here to refrain from another disgruntled diatribe 🤣)

dudsville · 01/09/2023 14:10

The parchment trousers arrived. As a hs 14 with a nipped on waist my usual mediums were so small i couldn't do them up. The large however were so... not loose exactly but i could wear them low on my waist, and there was just miles too much fabric for me. They didn't seem to be just one size difference between them. Anyway, it's always a relief when something pricey turns out unsuitable.

I have the ecru dungarees and the clay jeans and i love both so that's clearly enough for now!

Laska2Meryls · 01/09/2023 14:15

Ooh that's a great gift, @Stoic123 .. Can we see?

I just missed it then!

Laska2Meryls · 01/09/2023 14:21

My order : pea wool tencel top and Hiko pj trousers - though I bet the latter will be in the sale and I am going to be away if theres one on late September anyway- has been dispatched and kindle gift included 😄

Laska2Meryls · 01/09/2023 14:22

@neveradullmoment99 send it back and re order,!

dudsville · 01/09/2023 14:34

I was annoyed at missing out on socks. I didn't like the scarf, prints, the cup... but socks?! Grrr. So i just ordered the humbug sweater. I am very gullible.

dudsville · 01/09/2023 14:36

" I tried on the panelled cord trousers in ‘woad’ (blue to us)" 😂😂😂@ToastCosILoveIt

Stoic123 · 01/09/2023 14:46

I didn't get an email either. Was just alerted when @Snowyowl78 posted (thank you!) and bought a planned purchase forward.

Laska2Meryls · 01/09/2023 14:22

@neveradullmoment99 send it back and re order,!

Sadly I can't as I had 15% off.
I want the cord tunic dress. I may order it next week but also don't want to buy and find out there is a sale. So a bit hesitant!
That won't be in the sale but some other nice stuff might be.
Are you ordering something?

neveradullmoment99 · 01/09/2023 15:20

MrsRadichio · 01/09/2023 10:16

Just to add am sorry to hear things are tough @ScottishMouse . Glad you got a compliment on your lovely outfit (still envious of that dress).

I was interested in the alpaca vest before I remembered I bought very similar (the longer cotton / wool vest) in the sale, d'oh.

I think I can remember you all well from post to post. I don't assume the same for you to me as I am a bit of a serial name changer.

Shame the Fayre dress did not work for you @neveradullmoment99. It looks to be a beautiful dress.

I'm not sold on too much in the new drop thankfully, so will patiently wait for the next sale and live vicariously through all of you.

@dudsville how are you getting on with the ecru barrel leg dungarees? I've seen a pair and considering them but not sure if I will get the wear out of them.

I kept the XL.
Ridiculous sizing.

Thanking everyone for such a lovely thread, I don’t contribute much but always read with great interest . My thoughts go out to @ScottishMouse @Trinitybean and anyone going through a hard time.
I guess one of the benefits of being old and no longer working is that a lot of unpleasant life events are behind me, but I do envy those of you still needing an extensive wardrobe for work and socialising. I get tons of vicarious from your hearing about your Toast orders.
I’m still living in shorts and skimpy tops. I managed to break out what I call the @mizu dress last night ; I think I love it .
Just going to dress for a Vernissage up the road and think it will be perfect .
