Echoing the love for the thread and all the support: so much more than just about Toast 🙂.
I had a little visit to Marylebone yesterday to try on the denim wide sleeved jacket. Well, when I got through the door the new collection pulled me in and I almost forgot to look at the jacket. The colours, the cords and the knitwear are just lovely. I almost bought the a-line cord skirt in spruce, same cut as the summer hemp ones and a medium is a size 12 I would say. I tried on the panelled cord trousers in ‘woad’ (blue to us) and their cut is much more flattering on the leg with the tappering in than the pictures suggest. I would probably size down for these as the 10 fitted and I am a 12. The sales assistant said that they stretch a bit with wear (by about half a size) which would make them just right. They are absolutely beautiful, so tempted.
The Graphic Yoke Donegal jumper in persimmon: well, at some point this will find its way into my basket, sublime is too small a word. Comes up big and the small suited my size 12 frame (depends how oversized you like it).
So, I ended up buying three things: the new tie waist geometric print dress which is lovely and fits perfectly in the medium. I am sure I will get a lot of wear out of it as a casual and a more formal dress as it can be dressed up or down. I bought the wide sleeved denim jacket in a medium too, a perfect fit for a 12. I tried the jeans on but wasn’t so sure about them: they are very true to size so the 12 was needed. I saw a young (23ish) girl trying the jeans and jacket on together and she looked fab but I think it might not be the right look for me. I don’t think they flare out quite as much as the online pictures suggest (which is good from my perspective), and the cut is good. I may yet go back to them but I have too many Toast trousers and jeans so trying to be good. The last purchase was the textured scarf in rust, so lovely and I love a good scarf in winter.
They had some lovely wool hats in store too. I saw the blanket stitch coat from afar but it doesn’t appeal to me. I daren’t go in again for fear of spending.
The shop was almost devoid of summer stuff so I wonder if it has been gathered up and sent back to Wales for an imminent sale….
