It was this. The author is PoshPedlar on insta, she takes beautiful photos. Not of clothes, of Scotland. https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/57196320

Thanks @Noodle421 , I will give this a go. My bathroom is probably ideal too. My bedroom is very dark with the worst light.

ilovecherries · 31/08/2023 21:31

Wigtown, where the story is set, is only about 50 miles from where I live. It’s a very soothing place to visit.

@ilovecherries well remembered, I was on the old Hush threads!
I remember little snippets about people, but I also do get some confused with others.

Gonegrey31 · 31/08/2023 21:38

Hello ilovecherries, no I’m not the author but she is someone I really admire . I’m so glad it helped you . Many years ago someone did something similar for me and gave me a copy of Susan Hill’s book Family , about her struggle to have a child . I carried that book with me for so long , through much heartache , and I too went on to have a daughter.
The little things that change your life !
I haven’t posted much recently because the new sizing at Toast has flummoxed me . Can’t seem to guess correctly anymore. I must make it to a store one day again.
Faustina I succumbed to the hype and bought a pot of Miracle Balm. It’s nice for no make up days, the trick is to warm it in your fingers then blend . A dab on cheeks and lips . But I’m old and need dewy products these days ! I’m very fair and the colour I have is Miami Beach .

Noodle421 · 31/08/2023 22:40

Oh Gosh, feeling the love for Scotland, I miss it so much. Happy memories of time spent in our family owned home on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. Glorious.

Hello, GoneGrey, I’m so glad you are still reading. I don’t remember that much of that awful summer of 2021 but I remember so clearly you suggesting that book and when I saw it in a bookstore in Wigtown I bought it, and something about it touched me so deeply. I spent many days sitting outside the caravan at Garlieston that summer, and sometimes I barely had the energy to read the book, I was so sad, and I’d just sit with it on my lap. But every time I managed to read even a few pages, it made me feel hopeful. I will never part with it.

Thanks for your understanding @ilovecherries. I find your attitude to life quite inspirational and enjoy your posts very much.

Following on from what others have said, on the surface this may seem like a frivolous thread about a pricy clothes brand, but in reality it’s a supportive community that I value a lot. I am quite new to the threads, but reading everyone’s posts over the last few months has really helped distract me from a lot of stuff going on personally and at home, so thank you all for that 🤗

AmethystMoonShine · 01/09/2023 07:16

Just been catching up on the thread and it’s made me smile. It is such a wonderful place to escape to even for a few minutes and such a kind group.
I go through phases of posting and then not, usually because life gets so crazy. I really recognise though how it can be a positive place when other things in life are difficult and there is sadness.
I too am not great with remembering who has said what but your names are all familiar and it feels like a little community with a shared spirit somehow. I know I value it because I once for a moment thought how I’d feel if it ceased. I felt bereft! That’s when I realised it’s not just about clothes at all.
This group was also the reason we now have our fabulous TOAST Facebook group, which is another lovely way to spend a few minutes out of my day. Not to mention a much better option than eBay! Thank you to those of you that run the group I think @ilovecherries and @faustina and I know there’s another….
I was also on the old Hush threads from time to time and remember @Laska2Meryls and a few others. We’re all so different and yet share so much in common… it’s wonderful ☺️

Countmeout · 01/09/2023 07:27

Hope everyone going through bad times, and especially you @ScottishMouse , find improvement or at least the strength to endure and this thread is so good for clothes chat to distract .
You have answered my own doubts about the herringbone trousers, navy is probably not a colour I want in them.
Some one mention other trousers, were they the £195 Alix ones by any chance? Put off by the price mind you.
I agreed the cotton roll neck must come in other colours, has anyone seen it in person, is it a real grey or with brown tones? Perhaps other colours might filter through.
Despite having ordered the hat for which I have an email, I have no Kindred Gift, I wonder is it on a certain spend. I would love to know what it is.

Stoic123 · 01/09/2023 07:28

I am going to add to the thread love - I really like the friendly and supportive tone. I've also had some good recommendations of non-Toast items that I've gone on to buy (Seasalt linen dress, Donegal Knitwear etc). @dudsville always makes me chuckle at sales time.

The downside is a slightly depleted bank account and overstuffed wardrobe - though this thread has also encouraged me to sell on unwanted items too (a large number on the FB page (thanks @ilovecherries). I like hearing on here from people who have bought my sold items and are enjoying them (also thanks @ilovecherries 😀).

Countmeout · 01/09/2023 07:33

I forgot to say, just read @AmethystMoonShine post. I can’t cope with facebook I’ve discovered. I followed another account to do with a hobby of mine and now the whole page is full of rubbish and it’s hard to pick out the Toast posts. I never used Facebook before so really am confused by it all.
On the other hand I’ve discovered the joy of Vinted.

Snowyowl78 · 01/09/2023 08:31

@Countmeout wheb did you order? I placed one order the day the new stuff came out- no kindred. Then the next day I placed an order for the beret and it’s part of that order although sent separately. I would ask on the chat!
I think someone’s getting theirs today?

Countmeout · 01/09/2023 08:33

I think I ordered the day the new stuff came out @Snowyowl78 . That must be why. No worries I’m sure something else will have to be bought soon.

I’m not sure if I’m understanding now, but f you are reading Facebook from your main home page, then you do tend to see a lot of random stuff.. if you just want to see the Toast group, you can go to it directly via this link and as long as you are logged in, you will only see our posts. Hope that helps. Or you can use the search function for Toast UK buy and sell and that will also take you there without having to see anything else.

@Countmeout i totally empathise with the Facebook rubbish….. so what I do is, just go to Groups and select our TOAST group and then that’s all that comes up. Just a lovely long list of Toasty posts…. None of the other nonsense Grin

Early morning OOTD. Dressed for comfort as we are doing the fortnightly very long journey to my mum’s. Suki trousers (currently my favourite jeans ever) with the seasalt top which is a bit of a Toast dupe and a seasalt Donegal vest.

Looking good @ilovecherries Suki jeans are currently my favourite too, I’ve also started to do the mix and match Seasalt thing. Thinking I need another pair of the suki for when these are in the wash 😅.

MrsRadichio · 01/09/2023 10:11

That top is really pretty @ilovecherries - is it current Seasalt?

MrsRadichio · 01/09/2023 10:16

Just to add am sorry to hear things are tough @ScottishMouse . Glad you got a compliment on your lovely outfit (still envious of that dress).

I was interested in the alpaca vest before I remembered I bought very similar (the longer cotton / wool vest) in the sale, d'oh.

I think I can remember you all well from post to post. I don't assume the same for you to me as I am a bit of a serial name changer.

Shame the Fayre dress did not work for you @neveradullmoment99. It looks to be a beautiful dress.

I'm not sold on too much in the new drop thankfully, so will patiently wait for the next sale and live vicariously through all of you.

@dudsville how are you getting on with the ecru barrel leg dungarees? I've seen a pair and considering them but not sure if I will get the wear out of them.

I got it in the summer and it’s still on some of the models with other clothing but I can’t see it for sale. The Hope shirt is the same fabric but it has a collar and set-in sleeves.

Zeusrules · 01/09/2023 10:50

@ilovecherries I too have the Suki jeans and that Seasalt top. I'm rather larger than you so have a slouchier vest which is also navy. DIY day here so not wearing any Toast.

Vests are my absolute favourite item of clothing. So practical and a great way to change up an outfit. I’m knitting and alpaca/merino stripe one atm.

SPOILER

So, my order arrived with the Kindle Gift.

Keeping both wool cashmere neat jumpers (blue and russet) - they are lovely and I will wear them to death. Might even go for the olive too later on. I would say they are a reasonable colour match to photos. @faustina- I know your
penchant for a blue jumper- would recommend it.

I'm HS 14 and sized up to an XL as I like looser fit jumpers but an L (12-14 on size guide) would have been fine too for those who are happy with a more fitted look. Don't size down.

So the Kindle gift - it's a pair of fair isle socks. I always like a good pair of socks so am very happy with this one.
