Thsese are the Kindle socks - ones from last year I'm sure

Ooh! Very nice!

Trinitybean · 01/09/2023 13:55

@Stoic123 that is tempting, I think a Fairisle sock might help cheer me up, also joining the very very down brigade.

Sorry to hear this @Trinitybean . I hope whatever you’re dealing with eases up soon for you.

ScottishMouse · 01/09/2023 16:17

I love the look of the humbug sweater @PretLea. I didn’t spot it in store yesterday. I really do not need any sweaters though.

Trinitybean · 01/09/2023 16:28

Thank you @ScottishMouse and you too, :-). It's work-related, can't believe what a difference a year could make.

Trinitybean · 01/09/2023 16:31

Very kind @OftenOrange I particularly love the job ads that ask for someone positive and bubbly sometimes even sparky! which reminds me Toast are looking for a copy editor.

PretLea · 01/09/2023 16:34

My parchment wide leg trousers arrived today. Just so disappointed because they are incredibly creased, I can’t actually make out whether they look nice or not. I also noticed a possible slight greenish undertone to the colour - is that right? Sometimes my sense of colour is off…

mizu · 01/09/2023 16:48

Ah @OftenOrange that is absolutely a compliment as since buying, I have worn A LOT.

Impromptu badminton 🏸 in a neighbour's back garden? Blue dress was perfect. Hot weekend in London? Again, worn all round London and was so cool.

Picnics, errand running, you name it Grin I've worn it.

Laska2Meryls · 01/09/2023 17:27

Laska2Meryls · 01/09/2023 17:48

@PretLea thats disappointing.. mine arrived pristine and definitely a dark cream ( parchment is actually s good description) , I haven't noticed any green tinge.. maybe it's a different fabric stock from the first batch .

PretLea · 01/09/2023 17:55

@Laska2Meryls I’ve contacted CS with photos. Will see what they say. But even my DH said they look slightly green, so not just me.

MrsRadichio · 01/09/2023 18:00

@dudsville thanks for your message. The dungarees sound like a magic item! I have the calico fisherman trousers so not sure if they meet the need for me, not sure I would get the use from the dungarees but I love the look of them....

@faustina just wanted to link a couple of vests / tank tops (not sure what the right word is) that I've seen that may be similar to what you describe:

have you seen these from Carrier Company?

Brora one from Thrift

Me and em - a bit loud

Stoic123 · 01/09/2023 18:02

@PretLea - mine arrived in good condition too (very minor creases). Went to look at it and can't spot a green tinge- can you post a photo here?

Wonder if somebody has washed with a green item and reattached label/returned? I've received a torn return before.

PretLea · 01/09/2023 18:08

@Stoic123 so tough to capture on phone camera but I’ve attached photos. I’m not sure it even shows up on them. It’s the same as the last season’s chalk boy tee I bought. As it came out of the bag, I said this looks green. Only afterwards did I check online reviews and people were also mentioning green undertones.

Dee1224 · 01/09/2023 18:40

Hi @PretLea - hard to tell from pictures but I can sort of see a tinge of very pale greenness- how different people perceive colours can vary, so it’s entirely possible that some might see it irl and others not. They look lovely, though. Perhaps reorder if in stock and see if another pair looks the same.

Dee1224 · 01/09/2023 18:45

Toast have honoured my 15% off my order, (given as compensation for one of the faulty items I returned last sale). CS had to generate an invoice but I am a bit annoyed that I didn’t notice that they had missed off one of the items I had asked to be included. I am contemplating contacting them again but it seems a bit churlish.

However, I was very pleased to see that the magic words: Kindred gift, have appeared on my order confirmation! It’s my first ‘gift’ so am very excited!

Stravaig · 01/09/2023 18:45

@PretLea That reminds me of a shade they used to call Putty. I remember thinking it was apt, because the putty used to replace many a broken school window (aeons ago) had a definite green tinge.
It must be quite hard to specify an exact permutation of not-white.

Stravaig · 01/09/2023 18:47

Oh, and didn't the Cement shade have a greenish cast?

Dee1224 · 01/09/2023 18:54

I do remember someone saying that about the cement @Stravaig

clowniform · 01/09/2023 19:40

@ScottishMouse ooh I love them! What's the material, please? If majority wool I will have to place an order to get a pair.

@PretLea the pair I tried were from their first drop and had a creamy yellow undertone, but I can definitely see the greenish tinge in your pictures. Fortunately(?) the cut was also not great on me 😞

Afraid I can't remember who posted about the YBD final sale here, but my bargain Kate Sheridan bag and M. Hulot purse arrived today, so many thanks! I really appreciate the Toast-adjacent places these threads have taken me, even though I've only joined recently. ❤

faustina · 01/09/2023 19:54

@MrsRadichio - thank you so much for the links. I absolutely love the Carrier company one, and also the Brora, except it's grey and grey does nothing for me even though I stupidly keep on trying. I also like the Carrier Company jumpers - some beautiful colours and they look like a nice shape too

I managed to list a couple more jumpers on Ebay today so hopefully I'll be able to morally justify a new one soon

Those trousers do look like putty which I quite like, but they are very crumpled - how annoying for you @PretLea

Any guesses about the date for the next sale? I'm just wondering if I should be hanging on for too much longer

Countmeout · 01/09/2023 19:56

Thanks for the Facebook advice @ilovecherries @AmethystMoonShine . I didn’t know that.

Oooh socks are a good useful gift.

Love hearing about people’s visits to shops and what things are like in real life.

I have the cement cords, I remember someone saying about the green tinge but I couldn’t see it. I loved putty, it smells wonderful.

ScottishMouse · 01/09/2023 20:01

Sorry @clowniform, not sure that question was meant for me? Or maybe I have forgotten what I talked about up thread!
