@Snowyowl78 😂I am actually starting to want a dibber…

@ScottishMouse hope things improve soon 🤗

I haven’t had an email about a Kindred gift - I am new to it this time so not sure how it works. I have an order in my basket atm, but no mention of a gift. Does that mean I wouldn’t get one?

I am obsessing over the Oil wool scarf and really want it, but it’s dry clean only - has anyone successfully washed a similar scarf?

Currently I have far too many things in my wish list, not helped by items get the last sale reappearing - again - to torment me with regret that I didn’t order them!

Snowyowl78 · 31/08/2023 16:13

@AFingerofFudge oh that’s ok for me, I have to take all toast dresses up. Thanks for info

ScottishMouse · 31/08/2023 16:15

Well, I had an unexpected second trip to Toast this afternoon. To return the navy alpaca buttoned tank I bought this morning and the Freya crinkle dress I bought a week or so ago.
When I got the tank home and tried it with all the things I thought it would look amazing with, it just really didn’t. That and the fact that it was a wee bit itchy - which I didn’t notice in the shop because I had a dress with a collar on - meant it had to go back at that price.
@faustina, it comes to the waist on me, it is reasonably short and neat so looks good over a dress with a gathered skirt.
I had been swithering about the dress and thought the tank would be perfect with it, but there is something about that crinkle fabric that just doesn’t feel that nice, and seeing as the tank was going back, that went back too.
When I went back I tried on the Fayre dress again in a bigger size (still too tight on the arms), and the walnut denim dress. I really want a dress that will work into autumn and winter, and this seemed promising, but I am just not sure if the colour does anything for me. Will ponder.

ScottishMouse · 31/08/2023 16:18

Thanks for all the love and good wishes today everyone. Part of what is happening is a very complicated and upsetting situation which is unfortunately unlikely to resolve anytime soon. I am loving the lightness of this thread to take my mind off things, so thank you to everyone here for being so lovely.

Saurus72 · 31/08/2023 16:26

@ScottishMouse Clothes are diverting in a good way I think in that they can really occupy your mind and provide some focus to a busy mind (I speak as a very busy, buzzy- minded person). Also, I feel the same about the crinkle cotton fabric, a fact I had forgotten until you mentioned it, and so the crinkle cotton skirt has now been removed from my wish list.

MsDastardley · 31/08/2023 16:45

How do you become a Kindred member? I presume it’s based on spend. I’ve spent loads recently!

Dee1224 · 31/08/2023 17:04

@MsDastardley - I think it’s based on spend, but I also suspect that you put yourself in the running if you buy a Toast pass.

I spent loads last year and paid postage each time. It didn’t occur to me to buy a pass and I didn’t get invited to Kindred.

This year I have spent much less, but as soon as I bought a Toast pass, I was invited to Kindred. Sadly I did not get refunded for my pass🤣.

MsDastardley · 31/08/2023 17:18

Thanks Dee1224. I haven’t bothered buying a pass as everything so far has qualified for free postage. Does the pass cover sale items too? If so, I will get one 😀

Stoic123 · 31/08/2023 17:20

@MsDastardley - lots of spend (including some full price), buy a Toast pass and then wait for next Jan/Feb (they only invite once a year) seems to be best chance of Kindred.

@ScottishMouse - hope things get better sooner than expected.

I succumbed to a couple of the new neat sweaters today (and the new seasoning pot) and a kindred gift was included. I am away next week so paid for next day delivery. All in same package so reckon @Snowyowl78's was sent after as just missed off.

Snowyowl78 · 31/08/2023 17:21

Ooh @Stoic123 let us know what the gift is!

Stoic123 · 31/08/2023 17:22

@AFingerofFudge - did you get buy the trousers? They look divinely comfortable but struggling to justify full price.

Long-time lurker here. I had often wondered this, and was delighted to receive notification recently (last month I think) welcoming me to Toast Kindred. I have ordered quite a few things in the last year (sale and non-sale) but didn't have a Toast Pass. I was beyond excited when they told me!

Ooh - mid year. Didn't know they did that.

Snowyowl78 · 31/08/2023 17:28

I don’t think you need to buy a pass to get kindred

I've just checked and they sent me the email on 1 August (followed up with a card through the post).

Dee1224 · 31/08/2023 17:32

@Snowyowl78 - it was probably just coincidence that I got invited within a couple of weeks of buying the pass. I got the ‘call’ during the recent summer sale.
Unfortunately, I am not getting the benefit of the free postage as such, as I had just paid for the pass.

@MsDastardley - the Toast pass covers sale items too.

ScottishMouse · 31/08/2023 17:32

Oh I have such a busy mind @Saurus72! It drives me mad sometimes, but it just will not switch off.

Does anyone have this dress? How do you find sizing, and if you are pale-skinned and pale-haired (mine is grey) do you think the colour works for you? I feel like I can’t tell anymore if something suits me unless it is black, navy or blue!

My Kindred renewal came through Jan 31 (3rd year running). I thought it a bit odd, as I don't buy much (and almost entirely sale) and have never paid for a Pass.

@ScottishMouse 💐🍰👗🛍and all manner of frivolity.

I love my OG crinkle cotton dress but I think the latest one looks too warm a red. The new crinkle pinafore's on my sale wishlist though, have worn my one from the summer sale a lot, and I think it will work well enough under jumpers that I can skip the skirt.

clowniform · 31/08/2023 17:40

@Stoic123 spoilers please! I'm hoping for a mug 😄

neveradullmoment99 · 31/08/2023 17:50

Well my blue poplin dresses arrived today(Fayre dress) Gorgeous dress but I'm in between both sizes, which seems a common theme with Toast these days. I'm a 14 and the large is neat on the back. The X large is bigger but long on the sleeves.
It's small fitting as described in the reviews. Atm, I've no idea which size to keep!

neveradullmoment99 · 31/08/2023 17:53

@ScottishMouse sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish. Thanks for you're feedback on you're visit to Toast.
You didn't see the cord sleeveless tunic dress by chance? I'm going to buy that next!

Hi - I really do hope things get better for you soon.

I’ve tried on the jacket in the same walnut colour as the dress you like and was surprised to find it suited my colouring, I thought it would wash me out . (I’m pale with light brown hair). I find it helpful to look in a mirror in a spot with good natural lighting and hold the garment up to your face. I don’t always get it right but I can usually see which colours light me up and which drain me. I keep open minded about colours now - I used to rule out yellow but have found some suit me - it all depends on the shade.

dudsville · 31/08/2023 18:55

@Laska2Meryls is this the stripey one you're after? I'm fond of the twirly lady but was wondering what to do with the this one, now i know, Pm me and I'll pop it in the post for you, don't worry about the postage.

Ooh, cosmetics chat about moisturising balms! I'm loving estee lauder revitalizing supreme and Elizabeth arden nightime miracle. I also like Egyptian magic but haven't used it in a few years. If anyone comes across a nice balm I'd like to know, my dry skin soaks this stuff up.

@ScottishMouse there's a lot of ❤ for you on this thread. And we all know those times when talking about the perfect knit or something is exactly what's needed.

@Stoic123 my kindred starts mid-year as well, 1st August, and was renewed again this year. I’ve never bought a delivery pass (and this year I’ve probably sent back far more than I’ve actually kept Blush ).
