@ScottishMouse yeah! Weird though because I got a despatch email this morning and then another one just now with only the KG on it. Maybe it’s so massive they have to shirt separately!! Hoping for a £300 juicer.

ScottishMouse · 31/08/2023 13:26

Oooh, intriguing @Snowyowl78 !

I was wondering if anyone might have one of those wool tencel high neck tees? I think I remember seeing them last year. I definitely think they’d be a wardrobe staple for layering? Do they wear and wash well? Shrink? Stretch?

They wash and wear like new. I have a couple from 3-4 winters ago and you couldn’t tell they’d been worn. The neckline I find strange tbh, it’s neither one thing nor the other, but in every other way they are great. Normal sizing (very stretchy)

Sorry, somehow missed an entire page before making my comment above so it looks a bit argumentative! Hate when that happens.

I received the Seasalt catalogue today. Loads of very Toastie looking things.

I have been having a really rubbish time lately, and this week has been awful. A lot of stress coming from a few different things all piling on top of one another (health concerns, family issues, blah blah blah). I had to drag myself out of my bed this morning to get a child to school. Threw on the check shirt dress I picked up on the Circle rail last week, didn’t even look in the mirror. And a lovely mum at the school gate (a much younger than me and very stylish mum, I should add) told me I looked fabulous. I could have kissed her (but that would have been weird, I hardly know her!).
Thankfully not working today, and wondering if a Toast trying on trip is in order for a bit of self-care. New drop things I’m interested in are:
Boat neck cotton gingham dress
Pintuck cotton gingham top
Ruffle collar slubby check shirt in ink
Anja shirt in cinnamon
Brushed cotton linen herringbone trousers in navy
Buttoned alpaca blend knitted tank
Floral hand woven scarf in painter blue
And that is after narrowing it down from an even longer list!

Does anyone have the brushed cotton line. Herringbone trousers from last season? How does the fabric wash & wear? I’m worried it might look shabby quite quickly.

I’m sorry to hear that, but one thing is absolutely true - you always look stylish. And hope the crap gets better for you soon.

@Snowyowl78 ooh exciting !

clowniform · 31/08/2023 13:54

I need to catch up on lots, but also wondering about this Kindred gift!

Second @Saurus72 rec for Cos wool baselayers (Arket sometimes have different colours in) though these are also raw edge. Muji does 100% cotton ones with a mock neck which are nice but a bit looser (designed to be).

ScottishMouse · 31/08/2023 13:57

Aw thanks @ilovecherries, that’s very kind. I don’t often feel stylish, but making an effort does make me feel better when other things are getting me down.

PretLea · 31/08/2023 14:14

Thanks @ilovecherries I’m going to add one to my next order to try sizing.

@Snowyowl78 that’s exciting. I had a parcel dispatch yesterday (parchment trousers), but nothing else. How strange. I’m new to kindred, so no idea how it works/what the perks are.

Snowyowl78 · 31/08/2023 14:19

@PretLea they just send you a gift every now and then, they are usually good, a scarf, a mug etc. mine got despatched separately for some reason. I reckon it will come on Saturday

AFingerofFudge · 31/08/2023 14:57

I am on my way home from my mini break and went back into Toast to try a few more things. I am delighted with the green cord skirt and am now longing for cooler weather so I can wear it!

  • the check cotton cashmere pull on trousers are gorgeous! The L fitted me best, I would have taken M previously ?am a good size 14).
-the green soft merino cardigan is ok, a little more fluffy than I would like!
  • the cord tunic dress in orange is nice, the L fitted well, but it was a bit shorter than I would like, and I'm short!
-the boat neck gingham dress is lovely but very fitted on the top. I tried on a large and that was tight to move my arms in. -the brushed cotton herringbone trousers were very small compared to other things, I actually checked the label on them in case I was given the wrong size. The size large was very tight, and they didn't have the XL in stock

I would have liked to try the Anja blouse and the brushed cotton herringbone top but they didn't have them in.

faustina · 31/08/2023 14:58

@ScottishMouse - so sorry to hear about all your stuff going on, but I'm glad you managed a medicinal Toast trying on session. I was looking at that button up vest. Would you mind telling me how long it is in real life? Not actual measurements, but where it hits: waist? I've been wanting something similar and have been on a hunt for a while - stalking one at Cos because it kept selling out, then managing to pin it down, then waiting an age for delivery - and then, worst of all, it just made me look stupid, so I've returned that. Sometimes I really miss the days of just going into a shop - but when I do now, they never have what I'm looking for, or they don't have my size and they suggest ordering online. Very frustrating!

I like the look of those Cos merino tops - might try a couple when it gets cold - love the thumb holes!

I wonder what the gift is?

Saurus72 · 31/08/2023 15:05

I pre-ordered the Bryn navy leaves dress last week and got my dispatch email this morning, no mention of a Kindred gift though.

@faustina Agree re: shopping IRL. I did this in the spring, went to Regent Street with my wish list of things I’d seen in shops where trying on is a must because the fit and/or sizing is so weird/inconsistent (Cos/Arket/Toast/Massimo Dutti). Like you say, I mostly couldn’t find what I had seen online and when I did, they didn’t have my size, v frustrating! I bought a dress from Muji and some make up from Victoria Beckham (both v good as it happens), then went to lunch!

dudsville · 31/08/2023 15:06

This made me laugh @faustina "it kept selling out, then managing to pin it down, then waiting an age for delivery - and then, worst of all, it just made me look stupid", I think we've all been there!

I don't have a gift in mine, annoying as I was given those circus cards when trying things at the end of the last sale and I have no use for them!

Laska2Meryls · 31/08/2023 15:07

Ooh @Snowyowl78 .. my cue to orde the pea wool tencel top then .. 😄

Laska2Meryls · 31/08/2023 15:09

Maybe its another print... I wouldn't have minded the one with the person wearing the big stripy trousers, but I got three of the same twirly lady...

Laska2Meryls · 31/08/2023 15:10

I dont have an email though..

Laska2Meryls · 31/08/2023 15:12

Which ones do you have @dudsville ? I wouldn't mind some of the others apart from twirling lady if you would be happy to send ? ( id pay postage)

faustina · 31/08/2023 15:13

When you compare for speed of delivery between Toast and Cos, toast wins hands down (and returns too)

@Saurus72 It's such a pain isn't it? I'm thinking of doing similar tomorrow as I have my eye on a nice looking chunky cashmere jumper in navy at Cos and I want to try some Jones Road Miracle Balm which they only have at Liberty (which a lot of people seem to think is actually just very expensive vaseline).

Saurus72 · 31/08/2023 15:26

@faustina I have a few things from Jones Road (blush sticks, eyeshadow, powder bronzer) and am a big fan. The miracle balm is definitely not for me tho, I don’t like stickiness on my face.

Snowyowl78 · 31/08/2023 15:29

Maybe it will be one of Geoffrey’s dibbers.

was a bit weird that it’s coming separately!

faustina · 31/08/2023 15:30

@Saurus72 - that woman has hypnotised me on Instagram! She makes it all sound absolutely essential!

Snowyowl78 · 31/08/2023 15:38

@AFingerofFudge oob I’ve got the brown cord tunic on the way, bit worried as I ordered the M. How short is it? And how tall are you? Was is very small?

AFingerofFudge · 31/08/2023 15:46

@Snowyowl78 the cord dress came to about 3 inches below my knees, I am 5ft 3!
