That's scary @Snowyowl78. I found one in my linen cupboard a couple of weeks ago. This is where i keep quilts from my mother and grandmother. Almost everything has now been through the freezer. One of the suggestions on here that I haven't done is the hanging trap that brought your moth to light but I'm tempted after your post.

dudsville · 28/08/2023 07:44

Following on from having found a nice way to fold my jumpers, I wanted to make my sock drawer nicer and organised. Does anyone have any good techniques for stock storage? I've found one that works well for the shorter socks but it doesn't do so well for the falke boot sock.

I use sock drawer dividers - it's the only thing that's worked for me.

dudsville · 28/08/2023 08:37

Thanks@Stoic123, I've just been looking at those. My initial thought was that they might take up too much space, but I'm probably trying to cram too much in.

Stoic123 · 28/08/2023 09:04

@dudsville - my drawer is smallish but deep so I have two layers of these. It helps rationing as now one in-one out. Spot the Toast!

Exception for trainer liners - I keep these in a cotton drawstring bag in sportswear drawer as they are plain grey, black or white so I just rummage and get two of same colour without needing to pair up.

@Stoic123, thanks for the pic, that does look organised! And a lovely collection of socks!

Snowyowl78 · 28/08/2023 11:22

@dudsville looks like I’ll have to do that, argh. What do you mean by hanging the trap up to light?

dudsville · 28/08/2023 11:27

Sorry @Snowyowl78 , that was me beig unclear, by light I mean "known", what I mean is how your hanging version of this trap made your moth known to you.

Snowyowl78 · 28/08/2023 12:18

@dudsville oh haha, I took that a bit too literally. Yes well the moth traps seem to work in that he’s now a dead moth, but makes me wonder if that’s the tip of the iceberg yikes!

Stoic123 · 28/08/2023 17:59

@Theteapotsbrokenspout - just a quick update on the Suki. Not rubbed off on anywhere but there was a facecloth in my dark wash by accident today. In with the Suki and it has gone blue. So do remember to wash with darker colours.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 28/08/2023 19:10

Thanks for that @Stoic123 , I have got plenty of Toast denim I can wash them with. I do try and use a cold wash the first time with anything I’m a bit suspect of, but I don’t always remember.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/08/2023 20:08

So before my discount expired, [Toast gave me two incase I had to return the Maeve dress] Ive ordered the fayre dress. Sadly my code expires on the 1st Sept so was anxious to use it before this and had my eye on this dress. Anyone have it? Ive ordered it in the bright blue. I had to order both sizes as I remember Kat Atkinson on the Toast video saying she had ordered the xl and it seem to fit her well. It is small in the bust but I am also narrow shouldered so would annoy me if it is huge on the shoulder seems which is a problem I can often have when I size up.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/08/2023 20:09

*Sorry seams

Noodle421 · 28/08/2023 21:01

@neveradullmoment99 I have it ! In a medium, my standard new Toast size. (I’m a high street UK size 12 and I’m 5ft 8 tall). I didn’t size up to a large because I felt it was roomy enough but only just. It’s slightly tight across the bust area but I’m looking to shift a couple of pounds, so this won’t be an issue I hope (🤞) and I like to keep the top buttons unfastened which helps open the area. It was no where near as tight on the chest/upper body area on me as some of the reviews stated but then I’m quite narrow/neat shouldered like you. I think the large would have been too large on the top half of my body. I think you’ve done the right thing ordering two sizes to compare.

neveradullmoment99 · 28/08/2023 21:53

Thanks so much @Noodle421 Its good to know how it fits you as it is really hard to judge these days. I was a bit worried about it being big across the shoulders. I'm looking forward to receiving it. Thank you :)

neveradullmoment99 · 28/08/2023 21:55

I too am trying to lose a bit of weight. Menopause sadly and all that. So frustrating. Also lacking in willpower. Today was the day that I started back on watching what I eat and eating less rubbish!!!

I’m trying to cut out snacks but most importantly I’m getting back into strength training with weights. Lunges, squats too. I’ve let it slip lately and I miss it. I can’t recommend it highly enough for overall well being and strength. Clothes fit better too. Trying to make it a priority.

dudsville · 29/08/2023 07:50

I feel that pain@neveradullmoment99 and@Noodle421, I'm very peri with only a few periods the last couple of years, I noticed that I started changing shape &/or gaining weight a few months before the pandemic, then gained massively with the pandemic through bad choices and not realising just how hard it is to lose weight at this age. I then tried so hard to lose it, so much calorie counting and tons of exercise. I was incredibly disappointmented. Randomly, I've been down with a bad gallbladder the last little while and the strict diet i had to follow out of actual fear of pain is what finally shifted this for me, and then i got another unwanted diagnosis that's given me an existential pause, so when i recover (gallbladder was removed this week!🥳🥳🥳) I'm joining my local gym.

Noodle421 · 29/08/2023 08:31

@dudsville poor you, you’ve been going through a difficult time but hopefully now will be able to make a slow recovery following your op. Hopefully that’s an end to your pain too. I don’t tend to bother with calorie counting, I feel my best when eating a Mediterranean type diet and cutting out the crap. Regular strength training with a little bit of cardio, reduced or no alcohol and HRT. When I feel strong and energised, I don’t worry about what I actually weigh, clothes fit better and my posture improves - that’s what I’m striving for - my routine has slipped badly over the last 6 months, but I’m slowly picking it up again. Consistency is key.

lordloveadog · 29/08/2023 08:36

The boat neck sweaters - has anyone tried them? Is the wool soft? Ta!

ilovecherries · 29/08/2023 09:41

Ouch, poor you, Dudsville. Hope you have a smooth recovery and feel much better soon.

I’m waiting for the new drop now
I checked my order history (there’s a lot) and can see I bought a reduced dress on 22nd September last year
Do you think there may be reductions coming soon?

Snowyowl78 · 29/08/2023 09:54

I checked back and last year it was 22/09 and the year before on 09/09!

Snowyowl78 · 29/08/2023 09:57

Also I didn’t seem to buy much in either year, I don’t think it’s the best sale and it’s making me think there won’t be too much reduced

ToastCosILoveIt · 29/08/2023 10:35

@Snowyowl78 , I used the sticky pads in all bedrooms, the utility room, the hall (coats) and the lounge (wool blankets) and although I only used to see one moth in our bedroom flying around, I caught at least 50 on the sticky pads. I've now rotated all jumpers through the freezer and they're in sealed IKEA freezer bags. I also
bought the trichogamma parasitic wasps sachets to try to deal with existing larvae.

On that note, my cardigan and jumper are back from BBC Toast Repair and they've done a lovely job on the moth holes. The jumper only had a couple of tiny holes on the front but the cardigan had more. You can barely see the repairs in the photo. The jumper's hole is on the pattern on the right in the photo. They look more invisible in real life than they do in the photo. It's a fabulous service, thank you Toast!
