Fab repairs! And thanks for the sympathy, i must say I've spent my convalescence so far in toast dresses and it's such a pleasure.

Re September sale i have the same dates for last year and the yr before @Snowyowl78 , i think we were gearing up last year and then the queen died.

dudsville · 29/08/2023 10:53

Also today I'm in the "under his eye" ticking stripe linen dress. I was on my walk and of course it's an uncommon dress style so it gets lots of looks, and i wondered if "statement" jewellery would lift the creepiness quotient. Or is statement jewelry not a thing? I tend not to wear jewellery and my hair can v easily look "3rd wife" when i can't be bothered to do it. Maybe i need statement hair?

ScottishMouse · 29/08/2023 10:56

I don’t have that dress @dudsville (though did try it in the sale) but I have a couple of others that I think give off a similar vibe, so I know what you mean. I am not a fan of statement jewellery for me, but I often go with a scarf (even in summer!) to lift these kinds of dresses, and I have more recently started to purchase slightly more statement glasses than the ones I have worn in the past.
Hope you start to feel better very soon.

Countmeout · 29/08/2023 10:58

Ah maybe last year was an anomaly for sale then because of the Queen’s death. They seem to annoyingly do a drop and then a sale or other way round. Can’t remember which. I mean you spend money on one and then wish you’d waited as you’ve just seen something else you must have.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 29/08/2023 11:06

I can’t see anything I bought in the sale last September apart from possibly one enamel dish. Hopefully it will be the same this year as my bank account is still recovering from my summer sale spend.

dudsville · 29/08/2023 11:35

I don't think it was an amazing sale, most of what I tried looks like an odd assortment of things, but I did get the denim pathwork skirt and an orange stripe tee. Sadly I have also been reminded that I returned something that I later learned I would have really loved, but it was the wrong weather for the item!

😆please don't make me cackle when I'm ill and have barely any voice!
YY to hair. I'm also not a jewellery or accessories person and could get away with much frumpier things (my faves!) with a sharp haircut. Thinking of going back to pixie myself

dudsville · 29/08/2023 11:47

🤣@clowniform, my apologies! How are you feeling today?

Noodle421 · 29/08/2023 12:02

@ToastCosILoveIt that’s a great repair job. They really are excellent. Is that the neat cardigan? Do you wear it loads/find it useful - I’m thinking of buying the blue melange as I think it will layer nicely over the Oxford shirts ( blue and white) providing the proportions feel right. I usually stay clear of that shape given it’s quite short and fitted but I think it may be a useful addition to my wardrobe. Super impressed with your anti moth strategy - I’ve rotated my knits in freezer and they are currently in bags - problem is if they don’t all go out on display I forget about them. Then I guess it’s about trusting the wasps and sticky pads going forwards. The knitwear I wear all year round have been shaken and hung out in the sunshine on warm days. I guess they need a freezer visit too. I need to employ a full time moth defence person I think. I don’t have masses of knitwear to look after but it does seem to take up a lot of head space. I guess it’s about getting into a routine. Worth it in the long run.

Noodle421 · 29/08/2023 12:04

@dudsville have you tried on the linen dress with your DM boots. That would give it a more edgy look

What does 3rd wife mean?
I've never heard that expression

I didn't buy anything in the Sept sale as I think it was a damp squib.
I did buy a fairisle however in the Nov 25% off

❤appetite's back so feeling cheerful! Inspired by the wellness/fitness chat here too to Do Something once recovered, though sorry to hear of your difficulties !

faustina · 29/08/2023 12:46

Big sympathies to all the recovering toasties - on the bright side, Toast are very good at dressing gowns and pyjamas, so I'm sure if there were any hospital stays involved, you would have been extremely stylish!

Those jumper mends are beautiful!

@dudsville - I also find it really difficult to judge how things will look when I buy out of season. I have quite a pile of things waiting for the weather to cool and no real idea if I will love or put them on the FB group

dudsville · 29/08/2023 14:16

Glad to hear it@clowniform , hope you've had something nice to binge watch or an audiobook? I've been snoozing to old films, whodunits and audiobooks.

@Alpacasoft, I was aiming for a bit of a Handmaid's description!

@Noodle421 , i just went through my shoes. About 6 years ago i tried the white trainer trend, bought all white addidas, so comfy, but the look didn't suit me. I take them on holidays so they're are now adequately scruffy - i thought they looked good. I also have some Shoe The Bear lace up boots i thought liked good, the DM's though are by far the easiest on the eye though, thanks for the recommendation!

And big thanks to@Stoic123 , my drawer organiser things came today and my socks, tights, pants and bras are now wonderfully organised!

Snowyowl78 · 29/08/2023 14:19

Which drawer organiser did you get @dudsville ? I use old shoe boxes but it doesn’t look great!

Noodle421 · 29/08/2023 14:25

Oooh, yes please to drawer organisation recommendations. I’m slowly de cluttering my house and trying to get organised ( doesn’t come naturally) - minimal housework/clearing up is the long term plan.

I was trying to work out why you would look like Jane Seymour 😂

dudsville · 29/08/2023 15:40

Thankfully not @Alpacasoft !

And@Snowyowl78 and @Noodle421 , I got some cheapo thing off Amazon,

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B084PGSZFQ?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I didn't realise how many items came with this. My drawers are small but I was able to fit one large and one small thing in each drawer.

dudsville · 29/08/2023 15:42

And could someone please confirm that the link doesn't go to my personal amazon account? I don't undrstand tech and this freaks me out!

Snowyowl78 · 29/08/2023 15:43

@dudsville it just goes to the product don’t worry :)

dudsville · 29/08/2023 15:45

thank you!

Noodle421 · 29/08/2023 15:46

Thanks @dudsville very helpful

Laska2Meryls · 29/08/2023 15:57

My Uniqlo Ines de la Fressange denim shirt came today and its fabulous.. if it comes back in stock, I highly recommend ..
I also bought one of the £15 half moon bags that are popular on S&B ( in khaki nylon) and it'll be perfect for van and cycling trips

Stoic123 · 29/08/2023 17:13

@dudsville - glad your drawers are now in order 😀

Stoic123 · 29/08/2023 17:15

@Laska2Meryls - I have that bag.

Also bought a couple of cord versions for the Toast corduroy season - they are great.
