Thread to discuss and compare 2023 Beauty Advent contents. Started because Liberty has already published their contents.

@doublecleansed - no! I’m a cool toned too. In fact just gave the CT eye palette from JL last year to one of my sisters.

JL seems very similar to last year for me. So it’s a no. But I wasn’t really in the market for it this year anyway.

I was in London today and went into Liberty and spent some of my Beauty Drop credit on something I wanted so it’s definitely that and something from the sales for me and maybe the M&S calendar.

I love PoAL though it's cheeky to call 10ml full size! Also Good Genes which I like, and Votary - it's a decent offering.

I'm not a fan of the Acqua Di Parma though and gave that to DH last year.

Still hopeful for LiB.

They do sell the 10ml on its own for £60 so it's not really that cheeky.

Squishmymallow · 11/09/2023 17:01

I was holding out hope for JL but feeling a bit underwhelmed unfortunately! I’ll wait to see what the boots premium one has to offer but if that’s not for me then I think it’ll just be a chocolate calendar for me this year!

Pinenu · 11/09/2023 17:03

JL is a no from me.

Is it just LiB left to reveal now?

It’s not looking great this year but I know I’ll regret not having one once December arrives. Maybe I’ll go for a discounted one nearer the time, if it exists.

AprilLady · 11/09/2023 17:29

JL is a real mixed bag for me: love the POAL and would find having a travel size useful. Also like the Good Genes, the Dermalogica and some of the other skin care items. But I don’t use sleep sprays or sleep drops, and don’t particularly like Neom candles, so quite a few duds too. I’m a fan of CT palettes and use that one regularly - but already have a spare so don’t need a third!

I still need to add this and Harvey Nicks to my spreadsheet, but based on my analysis so far Sephora and, if I can bring myself to spend the money, Vogue, look best for me so far.

MidnightMeltdown · 11/09/2023 17:58

I think that JL is a no for me - agree that there are too many repeats.

I'm sick of Sunday Riley Good Genes and Votary Super Seed Serum - I've had both several times and don't rate either. I think I still have a votary in my stash.

I also have the CT palette, the Neom Sleep spray, Otto sleep drops, the AA oil, the Laura Mercier Powder and the Bobbi Brown stick

I'm relieved in a way as it makes my decision easier 😅

Ohdear7 · 11/09/2023 18:02

JL looks ok to me, but it doesn’t seem quite as good as last year. Votary serum and Susanne Kaufman mask look good. Although in terms of day moisturisers, there’s only 15ml of the Elemis and then a full size The Ordinary, which I’m not as keen on. Last year I think there were full sized Sunday Riley and a Dermologica. Going to wait for LIB before making a decision

CorneliaStreet · 11/09/2023 18:19

I’ve just watched an unboxing of Space NK on YouTube. If I get one of the expensive ones, that’s definitely the one for me.

loz12345 · 11/09/2023 18:35

@CorneliaStreet in thought the same when I have just watched and unboxing of that one - the sizes are much better than last year

PomRuns · 11/09/2023 18:51

agree - too many repeats in JL although lots of nice things too.
F&M I think is front runner fir ne, although a Sephora looks good too. Fortnums feels more of a treat.
might get Anthropologie if on offer (and m and s).

Greywhippet · 11/09/2023 18:52

John Lewis is so disappointing 😢 might get chocolate calendar instead!

MidnightMeltdown · 11/09/2023 19:04

Haven't seen the unboxing yet, but I was thinking that space nk is the front runner for me.

However, like @Housewife2010 I would like to know the lipstick shades before making a final decision on Selfridges.

Happy with my Harrods so don't really need another, but think that I will buy one of these two!
