Yep my LF is cancelled too
Oh well
Let's see what other bargains we can get

clary · 05/09/2023 20:43

OK ladies ladeeeezzzz

I have just realised what the date is and that you have all been chatting for WEEKS and I have been busy with other piffle.

Sooooo so so have had a quick look and not wowed by CB or Liberty tbh. I loved the fragrances in Liberty last year and also thought the John Lewis one was very good. I think that is not revealed yet?

Hmmmm

OK I am off to read the thread properly and see what everyone says :)

catsliketowearsocks · 05/09/2023 21:04

The joke will be on LF if their AC doesn't sell and they have to discount it even more than the discount they failed to honour.

QueefofSheena · 05/09/2023 21:21

LF have an edit that looks interesting. I won't buy it though due to the not honouring of the orders, even though I didn't try and order the AC

M & S September beauty box looks good, not an advent calendar but thought I’d mention it …..

I thought so too but they cancelled it off my order with no explanation.

Possimpible · 06/09/2023 10:49

M&S contents revealed. Dull IMO, not for me. I think Next and possibly Debenhams look better in the <£100 range.

redredwineub40 · 06/09/2023 11:04

It’s a solid offer - wld use most of that! Drowning in hand cream though - do you reckon that is one of the most re gifted items?

IveHadItUpToHere · 06/09/2023 11:16

Feeling underwhelmed with them all tbh. I'm going to go back and look again to see if anything catches me.

MidnightMeltdown · 06/09/2023 11:22

I might pick up an M&S calendar this year. I usually get one for my mum. It's bit samey but really good value.

Next never appeals to me somehow. I always feel like it's poor value. It's almost £100, so not cheap, and full of minis. Among the very few full sizes are a red nail polish and an iconic London highlighter. If it was priced around £70 I think it would be more reasonable. Debenhams doesn't appeal to me either.

I think that glossybox is a fair offering in the lower price bracket.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 06/09/2023 11:25

M&S is very samey. I have zero interest in the nail varnishes. Why 2 of them? Also the brow gel. Other than that, I would use it all and it's cheap so I might go for it.

MidnightMeltdown · 06/09/2023 11:32

I like the full sizes in M&S. The shower gel, the body cocoon and the cleansing gel.

There are also a few other nice/useful products like the Murad SPF and the Origins Ginzing gel that I really like. For £40 I think it's worth it for me.

QueefofSheena · 06/09/2023 11:39

I'm on the fence about M&S. I'm away for the week at Christmas so it might be good to take with me. I quite like the bag and some of the items, the hair stuff will get used by the offspring

redredwineub40 · 06/09/2023 11:41

I wonder about brow gel too - especially the ones that give you a crispy glue eyebrow look!

Possimpible · 06/09/2023 11:41

Each to their own eh, usually I'd agree about Next and the minis but for some reason I think it looks okay this year. Glossybox is alright, definitely appeals to me more than LF this year.

Has anyone seen the Space NK GWP? Very underwhelmed, I do not want twenty 5ml vials lying about my house! Struggling to see how it's worth £335.

redredwineub40 · 06/09/2023 11:41

Agree @MidnightMeltdown my hair likes Kingsley too.

Giftwithpurchase · 06/09/2023 14:02

Pleasantly surprised by Next - looks a bit more interesting than some others. Lots of minis but fun selection imo

BaconAndAvocado · 06/09/2023 15:51

Just took receipt of my Next AC.
It is a thing of beauty!
Now I have to be restrained and not open any doors.
It also comes with a leaflet showing the items inside.
Arghhhh! Roll on 1st December.

The Liberty GWP is a thing of beauty though

Yeah, I always wonder how it can possibly be worth packaging 5ml of anything. Space nk gwps are often like this I find - not at all tempting. I'd rather wait for a 20% off deal

SoloCat · 06/09/2023 16:58

I used to be a deluxe member with Space NK, spending 1k a year.
I’ve spent £64 with them since June when it expired. I’m finding they have changed so much and are quite measly with their samples. They’re only good with deluxe members as they offer free trial products for a review, this in a way has put me off as most reviews tend to be quite biased. It’s basically turned into a big influencer site.
I’d rather go direct to the individual retailers now as they have better offers.

AnnieSnap · 06/09/2023 17:13

I’m just packing for a 3 week holiday, so went to my stash from last years ACs. I discovered I have so much stuff unopened that I cannot possibly justify another AC unless it’s cheap and just for the fun of it. I’ll stick with M&S and try to keep control and not waste money if the flashier ones are heavily discounted again later in the year.

Puravida23 · 06/09/2023 22:04

For those deciding on advents , unboxings have started on YouTube . I find them really useful for getting a feel for size of products and also colour of make up. I have seen Harrods, Look Fantastic , Next and Holland & Barrett so far but I think, there are probably other ones on there
Also if anyone is thinking of the Benefit advent there is a discount code of 15% through Sephora UK if you use BEAUTYDETECTIVESPH I haven’t tried it but hopefully it works.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 06/09/2023 22:58

God, everything is just so meh this year! I don't want anything. I've got the Harrods fragrance one being delivered on Friday but I think that might be me done this year. Apart from my Lakrids, which is already stashed away.

Still haven't seen the H &B one yet, that I usually get for DiL. She raved so much about it though so I might get one for myself as well.

Doubleraspberry · 06/09/2023 23:25

Hello all. Very late to the thread this year. I’ve read through all the offerings and am staggeringly bored. Augustinus Bader, be gone.

I’m getting M&S for MiL as usual and I think also for DD, and then the two of them can swap unwanted items as they don’t have much overlap.

And I am going straight for the calendar that has given me the greatest joy of any of them - Diptyque. It costs a fortune but I adore it and nothing is wasted.
