Thread to discuss and compare 2023 Beauty Advent contents. Started because Liberty has already published their contents.

I went ahead and used my BD credit and £10 voucher for the Liberty calendar. My DD checked the listing and reckons there will only be 2 items that I might not like and she couldn't see any black eyeliners.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 07/09/2023 21:46

I did it the same @Isabelle70. Had a £20 voucher and my beauty drop credit to spend.

Cowshed removed a serum and replaced it with the mini file for their much reduced offering. I bought it for DD but complained about the serum and they forwarded one. Smells strangely like manure!

I got the reduced Cowshed too last year. They didn't replace the serum. They listed the previous years contents by mistake. There were a few differences between the two years. The main one was that the previous year had a full size illuminating serum which was why I bought it. I contacted them too and they sent me one.

PurpleGreenandWhiteAreTheNewPrimaryColours · 08/09/2023 08:56

Not feeling terribly inspired by this year's offerings I have to say.

I have used BD to get Liberty, and am tempted by Space Nk whi helpfully sent me a £10 voucher when I signed up which I will put towards.

John Lewis was good last year but haven't put anything on their website about this year, are they even doing one?

I tend to buy a few with the aim of picking what I want and selling what I don't to subsidise, even managed to get my money back on JL whilst still keeping a few choice item's for myself

No way am I disciplined enough to wait till December!

MrsRPatz · 08/09/2023 11:57

John Lewis live chat confirmed they are doing one but no release date available yet.

QueefofSheena · 08/09/2023 13:58

I'm the same, no must-haves. I've ordered Liberty with my BD credit which I'm looking forward to. Might get the Mac AC or something from their Christmas range as I wear their lipstick and could do with some different eyeshadows. The only other luxury AC that appeals is NAP but I don't think I can justify it.

I've got my Harrods fragrance calendar and am thinking of either the main Harrods or Liberty, or John Lewis depending on what's in it. My husband has bought me the Jo Loves calendar for a combined xmas and birthday present last year and I got an Acqua di Parma 2021 calendar last year as well which was reduced to £80 in TK Maxx. There's too much of the same in this year's Jo Loves and I don't think Jo Malone has revealed what's in their calendar yet - are there usually any other fragrance calendars apart from Diptique and pengaligons? Did Zara do one a couple of years ago?

Sniph did one a few years ago but haven’t since. I wish they would - they seem to do one for the European market but not the UK.

Ponks · 08/09/2023 19:10

I've got the Kiehls advent calendar this year- have wanted it for a few years so I can try lots of their little potions. I know the sizes are small but that doesn't bother me, to me it's nice having trial sizes to try. (Though would be nice if price was small too 😊)

PurpleGreenandWhiteAreTheNewPrimaryColours · 08/09/2023 20:36

I usually go mad for advent calendars but this year I've gone for the Sunday Riley gift sets as I'm getting into the CEO range, and feel like I've quite a few bits to play with from that range so won't get much joy out of serums moisturisers etc from other brands.

There are 2 separate gift sets one cult beauty one space nk ( space nk also has a SR free gift deal) if anyone is interested!

Has the Vogue calendar been mentioned in the thread yet? I couldn’t find a mention using Google. It’s £350, and has electric beauty items and jewellery. Says it’s worth over £1500. Running through the list it does seem like a lot for £350, and the box and artwork is beautiful.

released 20th September for vogue members and 22nd for everyone. Wonder if it will sell out before general release?

VOGUE Beauty Advent Calendar 2023 - Contents

VOGUE have launched their first ever festive and beauty advent calendar which includes beauty, lifestyle and fashion.

Housewife2010 · 08/09/2023 22:15

Vogue was mentioned earlier in the thread. Love the vintage artwork and the mix of contents. If the jewellery hadn't all been yellow gold (and there was more makeup) I'd be tempted.

QueefofSheena · 08/09/2023 22:19

IIRC Vogue was mentioned but the feeling was that you'd want to pick your own jewellery as it's so spendy. I wouldn't wear gold hoops so it would be out for me in that alone.

I've been looking at the Estée Lauder Blockbuster. I'm tempted as it has a full size advanced night repair that covers a lot of the cost alone, and I'd use everything. I always get my sister a particular EL perfume so I'd have the spend. I had one a couple of years back and really liked it.

BakeOffRewatch · 08/09/2023 22:31

Thanks @Housewife2010 and @QueefofSheena , I’ve just scrolled through and read the posts. Must not have been listed by Google yet.

I really like the Vogue one. I wear yellow gold and would use the Foreo. I was put off by the Olaplex. And I love the box. I wonder what the “surprise Vogue gift” would be!?

I read on the Vogue page for it that it comes with a year’s digital subscription as well which I’d enjoy.

@AprilLady , @Ohdear7 - what’s the 10% code you mentioned for the Vogue calendar?

Diplidocus4 · 08/09/2023 23:05

Saw the L'Occitane ones earlier this week - very nice !
Has anyone had the H&B email to pre order ?
That may be my budget this year so need to get it ordered !

AprilLady · 08/09/2023 23:27

@BakeOffRewatch i agree the Vogue calendar looks good, if spendy. If you register as a new user on the site, you get a code for 10% off your first purchase. I have no idea whether it will work for the calendar, but it will definitely be worth trying.

QueefofSheena · 09/09/2023 08:20

Can't link on this phone but I am disappointed with the Flannels AC. I like the fragrance crackers but the postage is £6.99

I've ordered the blockbuster... should come today! The eyeshadow palette looks lovely

QueefofSheena · 09/09/2023 08:57

@PurpleGreenandWhiteAreTheNewPrimaryColours hopefully they will throw in a few samples too 🤞 I bought just the perfume last year and I got a few really nice minis

Branster · 09/09/2023 09:36

LIB Brands Reveal:
This Works, Miller Harris, Aveda, Charlotte Tilbury, BBB London, Lumene, Pixi, Hair by Sam McKnight, Tropic Skincare, Votary, Dr. Hauschka, Amika, Oskia, Sol de Janeiro, Tatcha, Living Proof, Ilapothecary, We Are Paradoxx, 111SKIN, delilah, The Body Shop, Gatineau, Rituals.

Hmm I'm not sure and I had high hopes. I had it last year and really liked it but some of the brands above are, again, samey. I'll wait until the full reveal.

Glad I ordered the InStyle Beauty Boxes (really liked the mix description and I was already curious to try quite a few of the products, 26 items so it works out as an AC for volume) so I might not go for the AC.

None of the other ACs have drawn me in this year. I attempted the Beauty Drop from Liberty with a view of using my credit for their AC but I failed miserably as I spent it all on Venn creams in the sale. Best intentions and all that ...

Vogue calendar looks absolutely beautiful but really expensive so I won't go there.

Peridot1 · 09/09/2023 09:57

From how I feel and reading all the comments I think we all have beauty advent calendar fatigue. There is not much new that is tempting really. It’s a shame that so many of the same items come up again and again. Basically we have all been a bit spoilt I think and not much seems shiny and new and exciting. I know if I don’t buy one I will really miss it in December as I love the ritual of opening something every morning. At the moment I’m tempted towards the L’Occitane one as I know I’ll use all of that. It’s that or M&S but I don’t like the bag it comes in.

ajandjjmum · 09/09/2023 10:02

I think I'm just going to stick with the M & S this year. I have enough in credit for the Liberty calendar, but feel guilty spending that amount of money when it doesn't really excite me. I can always buy some Christmas presents with it - or wait for the sale!

loz12345 · 09/09/2023 10:35

Just had an email for the LIB waitlist looks like another collab but only says 25 products most full size no other mention of what they may be

MidnightMeltdown · 09/09/2023 10:37

I'm not keen on Flannels either. I can't see that selling well.

I agree @Peridot1 I think that we've been spoilt in the UK and expectations are very high. Most of the ac offerings in Europe and the US are terrible by comparison and they all want to get their hands on ours! Not many ship internationally though, I guess because of perfumes, nail polishes etc. Plus it must cost a lot to ship something so heavy.

loz12345 · 09/09/2023 10:37

Ignore me just seen the message above with the brands - not sure about them hopefully will be an unboxing on you tube soon as they are really useful
