Today I am wearing the V-Neck Cotton Jersey Dress in washed black. I managed to snaffle one through a shop before it sold out but it was then restocked. It has earned its positive reviews as it is a lovely and easy dress but it is very sunny here today and the black is not comfortable in direct sunlight so I am sitting in the shade. When I went out this am I had on an Innou scarf with it and a Mint Velvet red kimono throw on, plus black Arizona Birkenstocks. I was also carrying one of the ubiquitous Uniqlo round mini shoulder bags in black. I also have the bag in navy and khaki: so handy when you don’t need to carry much and want an easy bag.

I am about to go through all of my Toast stuff and downsize it. I will put some sales on our Facebook page.

I hope everyone is enjoying the sun and I am loving hearing about all of your outfits.

Thanks @Gonegrey31 . I will think about it a bit more.

I’ve now tried on the trousers and I’m not convinced by either. I think the space check ones are the same shape as the linen balloon ones that everyone here loves. Maybe I am too short (5’2”), as I need to turn them up a few times. But I’m not even sure that is the problem. I think it is the pleats on the front. The indigo stripe ones fit beautifully on the waist and bum (in a size 6!! I was not even a 6 in old Toast sizing!), but again, the pleats make them look kind of clown like on me I think. Boo.

I tried those trousers on in store @ScottishMouse and didn’t find them flattering. I have the midnight and the fenugreek balloon trousers in a small (I am a 12) and they are a much better fit.

ScottishMouse · 07/06/2023 16:01

Yes @ToastCosILoveIt , I’m finding it hard to reconcile what I am seeing in the mirror with all the great reviews. I love the striped fabric, and the weight of it, and I love the idea of the shape, but they are just too much on me I think.
The linen ones are a better fit (less fabric in the leg), but I’m not sure they are worth keeping either sadly.
I find trousers soooooo tricky.

ScottishMouse · 07/06/2023 16:02

@ToastCosILoveIt , well done on getting one of those dresses. I tried it and swithered too long and it was gone. I think I was finding it too hard to see a use for it when I tried it and it still felt like the depths of winter! Enjoy it.

Snowyowl78 · 07/06/2023 16:24

@ToastCosILoveIt hve you found yours has faded quite a lot? Mine has and now it looks much more worn. I guess that’s what they mean by ‘washed black’!

@Snowyowl78 , this is only the second time I have worn it (the first time just for a couple of hours) so I haven’t seen how it washes yet. May try a cool and short wash as I don’t really want it to fade, thank you for the tip off.

ScottishMouse · 07/06/2023 16:26

Not sure if those are new @Snowyowl78 , but they did tell me in store yesterday that there was a small drop of new stuff coming this week (weds/thurs).

Snowyowl78 · 07/06/2023 16:27

There’s loads of new stuff on

Snowyowl78 · 07/06/2023 16:30

@ScottishMouse its your lucky day! There’s a load more of those dresses on the website now

ilovecherries · 07/06/2023 16:35

I’m wearing the jungle print wrap dress I bought on the FB page, giving it is 6th outing in three weeks. It is my current favourite dress. Wearing it with tan arizonas. Someone in the campsite toilets told me earlier I looked amazing in it and the poor woman got an unsolicited run down on how much I adored poplin dresses, the fact it had pockets, and that it was preloved (oh, and that I also had it in blue). Oversharing! 😂

Oh @Snowyowl78 , such an enabler!!

In an unexpected twist, my other half and son both just told me the indigo stripe trousers look really good. Not sure though if that means I should keep them or return them immediately!

faustina · 07/06/2023 16:45

@marshamarshmallow - I will second the trying a smaller size. Twice lately I've tried a Toast jacket in my usual size and it's looked rubbish - and both times I've ordered the next size down and it has made all the difference! This is why I rarely gamble with preloved Toast (unless I already have it in another colour or something)

Off to see the new things..

Saurus72 · 07/06/2023 16:48

New dresses! With yer actual sleeves! And some are less than £160. And they’re sooo lovely!

Snowyowl78 · 07/06/2023 16:50

@ScottishMouse ha sorry! Makes me think though that they will not go into the sale if they have just been replenished.

@Saurus72 have you noticed 2 are called ‘Bryn’ but they are not the same as the other two Bryn I don’t think?

dudsville · 07/06/2023 16:56

Argh, just managed to delete a post rather than ... post, you nkow what I mean.

@ScottishMouse I agree with you that the pattern placement is offputting, I think they should have done internal pockets if they couldn't match up as the pattern should be allowed to shine unfettered. And I also agree about the striped trousers. I have to go down at least two sizes in them, haven't tried a 3rd but I expect the way the garment sits will start to go wonky by then. Keep them, you've already got compliments and they are so nicely made.

I'm convinced that my garment dyed balloon trousers weren't in fact them as the fit was nothing like what is shown on line, and I also tried the space check ones which were as expected, so I may give the darker garment dyrd ones another chance.

Loving reading about the outfits pople are creating with cool trainers and kimono jackets!

Off to see what new in the shop.

MiracleToast · 07/06/2023 16:58

Oh my goodness the boat neck in pebble! 😍

Saurus72 · 07/06/2023 17:02

@Snowyowl78 yes I was just looking at that. I love the yellow but I don’t think it would love me. This though, this will be ordered when I get home So lovely

I like the Stripe Organic Crinkle Poplin Gathered shirt! Although I would very much like it to be a dress instead

Snowyowl78 · 07/06/2023 17:11

@Saurus72 yes I like that one too, think I’d have to take it up though

ScottishMouse · 07/06/2023 17:47

@dudsville, it’s funny that pattern placement is a bug bear for some and some don’t even notice. I showed my sister and she couldn’t see it at all. I thought about removing the pockets, but I use them a lot on the cream version that I have.
The stripe trousers are so nicely made. I will try them again tomorrow and decide. I don’t love that I have to turn them up, which ruins the lovely shape at the ankle, but I think it still works ok. Have you kept yours, or did you decide not to?

dudsville · 07/06/2023 17:57

That would have to be a careful job to unpick, but you could put it just inside of you did?

I recently dismantled the front waist band on the pleated tapered toast denim bought several years back as i don't wear them because of the volume. I think it was successful. I turned the inverted pleat into a single flattened pleat keeping all the fabric but now it hangs more flat.

ilovecherries · 07/06/2023 17:57

ScottishMouse · 07/06/2023 14:44

Here’s the jacket. I’m quite fussy about pattern placement, and this looks a bit messy to me around the right hand pocket (left in the photo, but my right side). Would appreciate your thoughts.

I see what you mean. The way it’s landed it’s a little cluttered in that area. I’ve unclenched a lot about pattern matching over the years and tried to convince myself that it’s more sustainable and economic not too, but once I notice it, it always irritates me. I had to sell the Riya dress for that reason.

Pls ease can someone tell me what the length of the dresses is like in relation to your height. I’m 5.8 and like a long dress length. Does Toast fit the bill and are they worth money.
