It would help if I could be coherent.

Noeggsontoast · 05/06/2023 19:03

Last year the sale started on Tuesday 14th June for Kindred. I just checked my mail and I still had the email notification.

Snowyowl78 · 05/06/2023 19:27

@dudsville thanks! It’s probably a non starter anyway as the 12 is sold out

dudsville · 05/06/2023 20:23

I hope it starts on the Tuesday, I'm really busy on the Thursday but i know i would make the excuse to go to the toilet for a long time in order to peruse the sale! I remember my first sale. I saw the email right before going into a meeting and ended up arriving late!

MiracleToast · 05/06/2023 21:27

Does anyone have a garment dyed linen shirt? The reviews for sizing are confusing. I know I need to go up one size for the new sizing but wondering if I should go up further to accommodate what sounds like a strange fit?

Oh can I tag along? I've never got to the sale in time and still covet a mustard Aran cardigan from a few years ago. I intermittently search on eBay but I've never seen it. It's the cardigan of my dreams ...

Stoic123 · 05/06/2023 22:39

@SheilaWilde - welcome to the thread.

Is the cardigan the one shown in this Vogue article (so we can keep an eye out for you- No 3?

SheilaWilde · 06/06/2023 06:44

Thank you Stoic123 yes, the one at number 3. It's just so lovely.

ilovecherries · 06/06/2023 07:23

Sheila, ah, the one that got away. I have one of those too. I have a cardigan I scour eBay for as well, but it never appears, or at least not at a totally obnoxious price.

MiracleToast - is that the Elena shirt? I don’t have that one, I have a longer length white one in a very heavy linen which is on the large side but not massive, and a shorter one in a lighter weight linen which I’ve sized down in but again wasn’t hugely oversized.

Thanks @ilovecherries for the new thread.
I'm probably not the only one who for some reason is getting more excited by a Toast sale than I usually do, maybe because there's a few things I'd really really like to get my paws on Smile

SheilaWilde · 06/06/2023 08:37

ilovecherries my other 'the one that got away' is a yellow jumper from And Other Stories. Maybe we should have a 'The One That Got Away' thread in the hopes that we might all be able to find each others 'The One'.

Countmeout · 06/06/2023 08:57

Welcome @SheilaWilde . I have that cardigan in parchment. It is the most useful thing in winter. So comforting to pull on. The medium came up quite big but just feels so cosseting. I hope you find it.

MiracleToast · 06/06/2023 09:07

@ilovecherries no it’s not that one—although the elena is equally coveted!

I will add a link here to see if anyone has it and can help with sizing.

Saurus72 · 06/06/2023 09:55

@MiracleToast Argh that’s gorgeous, it would go perfectly with the black linen trousers I got in the last sale and am wearing as I type. Adds to sale list 😬

SheilaWilde · 06/06/2023 10:01

Thanks Countmeout, in my head it will be the perfect cardigan for gardening, dog walking, shopping, work, sitting on the sofa - basically everything.

AFingerofFudge · 06/06/2023 10:05

@MiracleToast I tried that one on recently so I don't think it'll be in the sale (not that that was your question!)

Size wise I needed the L whereas previous to their sizing being updated I would have chosen an M, most of the "older" multisize items I own are M. I'd like to say I'm a size 12, but unrestrained consumption means I'm
actually a good 14 now. I'm working on it!

MiracleToast · 06/06/2023 12:14

Thank you @AFingerofFudge thats really helpful.

ilovecherries · 06/06/2023 12:30

Quick eBay qu - if a seller is using auction plus best offer, does that mean that they are looking for more than the auction starting price as an offer?

OP posts:
Countmeout · 06/06/2023 12:47

I always thought so @ilovecherries

ilovecherries · 06/06/2023 12:58

Countmeout · 06/06/2023 12:47

I always thought so @ilovecherries

That’s what I thought bought too, but just had two offers, one for £15 then the next for £20, which I had set to autoreject, followed by an irate email asking me how much I wanted as they only had one offer left - well, that would be more than the £40 starting price. It literally only went up two hours ago.

OP posts:
faustina · 06/06/2023 13:00

I always send a message if I reject persistent silly offers saying what my lowest price is

Stravaig · 06/06/2023 13:09

I've always assumed that an offer on an auction listing needs to be in the vicinity of the reasonable/hoped for/expected final auction price: either a bit less, given seller doesn't have to wait (buyer's perspective); or a bit more, given buyer doesn't have to wait (seller's perspective).

Sounds like someone without a clue (probability 1%), or the bog standard CF offer (likelihood 99%). Have they been rude, aggressive, or emotionally manipulative yet?

Present for disabled mother living in Greece, apparently. They also want me to wait till they are paid and post it to Greece myself.

Omg 😱
Are you joking ?
All of my sale transactions have been great with good reviews.
Mind you, I can’t be bothered with the auction. I see many items listed with no bids. I set a price for ‘buy it now’ that I think is fair and which I’m happy with and I don’t accept offers. Perhaps I get a bit less than I may have got at auction with the odd item but I can’t be bothered with the faff in the run up to an auction.
