How can I make this more sophisticated?

What accessories can I add to make this more interesting and more sophisticated? I was thinking a nice jumper over the the shoulders? But what colour? And what shoes? Ahhhh
It's for a v posh restaurant dinner and drinks

Ps because I have small boobs, they don't show at all in this dress like they do on the model

What is your colouring OP?

TheEverdelightfulsamantha · 21/05/2023 22:32

How about a long line sheer / chiffon shirt which you could wear open like a jacket? (Though to be honest if I had the body to pull that dress off I’d probably just wear it by itself and allow jaws to drop all over the restaurant!)

aNewYorkerInLondon · 21/05/2023 22:34

I'd agree that this is more clubwear, not elegant restaurant attire.

Any other options?

If you must wear this dress, perhaps a black blazer and black kitten heels. But really, even without a large bustline, that dress gives the wrong impression.

also, knowing which restaurant it is might help us make suggestions.

Habreathmint · 21/05/2023 22:35

Burn it!

Prettylittleroses · 21/05/2023 22:36

It’s a great dress, but elegant it isn’t and putting a jumper over your shoulders won’t make it so. Sorry

Suzi9989 · 21/05/2023 22:37

Echo PP, or a structured blazer with gold buttons, settle jewellery/ watch. Nice bag to match. Slim heels

TomatoSandwiches · 21/05/2023 22:42

Kindly op, are there any other dresses you are considering?

curtainsfringe · 21/05/2023 22:43

the dress isn't my style but don't pare it with jumper around the shoulders!

dontlookbackyourenotgoingthatway · 21/05/2023 22:44

That's club/role play wear.

determinedtomakethiswork · 21/05/2023 22:45

I laughed when you said about putting a jumper on top of it because that's exactly what my mother would've wanted me to do before a night out.

angelicaelizapeggy · 21/05/2023 22:45

I actually think it’s a fab dress and bet it looks absolutely amazing on the right figure (not on me though!!)

But definitely a night out dress! I’d look for something else for a posh resturaunt.

curtainsfringe · 21/05/2023 22:49

pair obviously!

Monty27 · 21/05/2023 22:50

I think it's lovely but only if you can rock the cut. Understated jewellery, an elegant hair updo, beautifully manicured nails and makeup, drop dead clutch bag, wrap and heels . Feel and look a million dollars 🙂

TomatoSandwiches · 21/05/2023 23:04

These are some suggestions, obviously depends on your budget, but even so you can look for similar cuts and styles with your range. An appropriate dress will need very little in terms of accessories.

Yes it's the only option I'm afraid, I'm quite skinny and young so it looks good.
Love the idea of a wrap and elegant up do @Monty27 thank you!

pompypomppomp · 22/05/2023 08:59

@TomatoSandwiches all lovely but perhaps for someone 15/20 years my senior

GettingStuffed · 22/05/2023 09:02

Pretend you're a wag, you'll be fine. It's the sort of dress my daughter-in-law's sisters would wear, if they turn sideways you'd miss them. If you have the figure, then I think Monty27 has the right idea.

anythinginapinch · 22/05/2023 09:03

Sophisticated lol

WonkyFeelings · 22/05/2023 09:04

You could wear a summer blazer?

ShirleyPhallus · 22/05/2023 09:09

I get to go to a lot of fancy restaurants through work and honestly, about 20% of the clientele wears this kind of stuff with strappy sandals and a blazer and a tiny bag and enormous hair and lips and stands in the doorway / window / against a wall display with a hand on hip looking down in a very 21 year old Instagram influencer way.

the people saying that it’s club wear and suggesting frumpy alternatives from boden - that’s not really the look that OP is going for

OP, the dress is fine and I’m sure you’ll look lovely

TheYearOfSmallThings · 22/05/2023 09:11

I think if you are going to wear that to a very fancy restaurant you just gave to stand tall, hold your head high and be unapologetic about it. No jumper over the shoulders, even a wrap sends the message that you are self conscious. Neutral heels (not ridiculously high) and probably gold jewellery. I wouldn't order anything messy either!

JustFrustrated · 22/05/2023 09:13

These comments are hilarious.

That is a beautiful dress.

I'd pair it with a blazer, if it was going to be cold, and some gorgeous shoes.

I'd go for dainty jewellery and my hair up, to elongate my neck. Minimal look makeup, so freshfaced neutral colours. E.g. lipstick that was "my lips but better" not a red lip, no winged eyeliner etc.
