How Do The Royals Look So Polished?

KnackeredSheep · 06/05/2023 19:02

Watching the Coronation today and couldn’t help but notice that all the royals just look so well polished.

Camilla looked glowing and healthy, but pictures of her from her first marriage, she looked like a fairly average lady of her age.

Same with Kate. She has always had good bone structure, nice hair etc, but since she married into the Royal family she just looks great.

I eat well, exercise, have a good skin care routine, drink lots of water - all the things you’d think would help but I can’t imagine ever looking as well polished as any royal.

What is their secret? Is it as simple as hair and make up done for them, or am I missing something?

I'd sack the toothbrusher.

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 19:47

Look at ordinary women who have been on Britains Got Talent and then become famous. They often look very different. Or look at stars like Adele who has metamorphized from a pretty slightly fat young woman into a diva look.

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 19:48

Also cosmetic surgery.

Spectre8 · 06/05/2023 19:49

I saw a picture in the news today and she had bags under her eyes...u don't usually see pics like that and other pics u couldn't see it ...so I dont know if the pictures are touched up or not but I was like of course she would have bags under her eyes if she has had little sleep in the run up to the day. Made me think well maybe they are looking more normal and its the pictures presented to us...much like how ppl use filters on insta

Kate has at least one nanny. I really don't believe she was as sleep-deprived as other mothers when her children were smaller. Also of course cleaners, a cook and a whole team of household staff. Her own stylist, hairdresser and access to the best doctors.

She's also a naturally quite attractive and is blessed in that way. William wouldn't have married an average looking woman.

MissingMoominMamma · 06/05/2023 19:52

They mostly look healthy (not Andrew), and presumably don’t suffer from any health anxiety, having doctors always on hand.

This is in no way a ‘dis’ to the Princess Royal (for she is the only one I can tolerate) but when you look at the difference between a Royal who cracks on with the true, altruistic purpose of the job and those who think the role is to ‘look good’, you can see where our money is spent.

True, but she is a woman who takes care of herself, apparently she can still fit perfectly into the clothes that were made for her 21st birthday ( and she looked stunning in the pictures)

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 19:54

Kate and William have a nanny and assistant nannies. They won't be sleep deprived unless they stay up too late.

But I do agree with the clothes fitting points. PAs clothes always fit her perfectly.

I think a lot of it is having their hair and makeup done and an ongoing routine of self-care and maintenance. In the sams way brides always usually look way better on their wedding day than they do in real life because they've been doing way more self care in the run-up and then had their hair and makeup done on the day.

swedex · 06/05/2023 19:59

They also have zero mental load! Someone or lots of people will be planning their days their meals their activities their appointments everything. They dont have to organize anyone!

Kiwivicjules · 06/05/2023 20:00

I was impressed at how polished the guests were at 730am in the Abbey…how does anyone scrub up this well so bloody early!!

BreatheAndFocus · 06/05/2023 20:08

Think about all the constant, tedious crap you have to do in your life, and then imagine not having to do it. That’s a big part of it. It’s not just the physical freedom, it’s the relief of the mental load (“must put a load of washing on, did I book the Tesco slot, oh no I forgot to pay the council tax, must pack the lunches, just remembered it’s DC’s carol service tomorrow, etc, etc) that wears you down day after day, year after year.

Also, hair. Never underestimate the effect of good hair-care and styling.

TokyoSushi · 06/05/2023 20:14

Money, staff, somebody to take care of absolutely everything, your only job is to just be. Absolute gilded cage though.

KrasiTime · 06/05/2023 20:16

Dcs were at school with footballers dcs. I can tell you their partners were definitely above average looking to start with.

CoolShoeshine · 06/05/2023 20:17

Let’s face it, if you’re in the public eye and under as much scrutiny as they are you’re going to turn down desserts and extra glasses of wine. And not skimp on exercise. Probably easier to be strict than face the criticism if you look less than fabulous.
it’s not just the royals, same with celebs like Adele, they can’t afford to let themselves go.

KrasiTime · 06/05/2023 20:20

Sorry got a phone call

meant to add if you are already better than average to start with it helps. The royal woman will also have an army of helpers to help them look good. I’ve never ever looked as good again as I did on my wedding day when I had hair & makeup done.

microloewe · 06/05/2023 20:21

On a much reduced level. When I met my DP he had a housekeeper, cleaner and nanny as he was a widow with a business to run. When I moved in I didn't have any housework or jobs to and my money was my own. I have always been slim and fit but have money to invest in Botox, nails and hair (not that you would notice). It makes a difference to have all stress removed and time to spend on yourself.

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 20:28

God most womens hair is at its besr just after they come out of the hairdresser, and that is just an ordinary hairdressers appointment.

A few million? Charles has got at least 1,800 million pounds 'in the bank'.

Your post sounds like you view them somewhat like a middle class family that's done quite well for themselves...

In reality their lifestyle is so beyond any of our life experiences that there's no point even pondering those trivial questions about the nanny taking away stress etc.

Iirc they (as in we, really) employ someone to put toothpaste on Charles' toothbrush every morning. Like he's an actual toddler. That's power for you. Every single whim is catered for, as it has been for all his family, for generations, every single day, from the moment they wake up to the moment they fall asleep.

The only time they're in danger of encountering any cortisol is those rare occasions the press dare to get slightly uppity after one of them is found (again) to be a liar, or corrupt, or just really, really good mates with high profile sex offender. And even then they can relax knowing that for them, mud doesn't stick.

That's the key to looking as 'polished' as the royal family - be a royal.

Hear hear. Plus, only marry good looking people over generations.

It's their job.

Pledge !

Maybe they’re born with it. Maybe it’s Windolene.

Moveoverdarlin · 06/05/2023 20:48

The money means they can have the best of the best CONSTANTLY. Kate, Camilla have had extensive dentistry in the last 15 years or so, they will be using THE best hair and skin care products. Very clever, subtle cosmetic procedures again performed by the best, most discreet surgeons. All their clothes will be made to measure to the nearest millimetre, most of us will never experience any of the extravagance they do. And what I think makes the biggest difference is that they’re thin, Kate in particular is so so slim and today I noticed that Zara has lost a lot of weight and Beatrice is also the thinnest I’ve seen her, and that alone makes you look so much more polished and elegant in clothes. Clothes that are from world renowned designers and such high quality fabric. Liz Truss trotted in in a Karen Millen dress and it looked so cheap and thin compared to all the aristocratic women.

Caramac555 · 06/05/2023 21:08

I thought Kate looked beautiful if slightly tired.

She's had the benefit of some expensive dentistry, time to exercise, premium quality food. Everything she wears will be tailored to a perfect fit
