How Do The Royals Look So Polished?

KnackeredSheep · 06/05/2023 19:02

Watching the Coronation today and couldn’t help but notice that all the royals just look so well polished.

Camilla looked glowing and healthy, but pictures of her from her first marriage, she looked like a fairly average lady of her age.

Same with Kate. She has always had good bone structure, nice hair etc, but since she married into the Royal family she just looks great.

I eat well, exercise, have a good skin care routine, drink lots of water - all the things you’d think would help but I can’t imagine ever looking as well polished as any royal.

What is their secret? Is it as simple as hair and make up done for them, or am I missing something?

There were pap picture of Sophie leaving her hairdressers a few weeks ago looking less-than-polished. She looked great today though. It's money and effort (well, the effort to turn up to appointments, I'm sure the thinking side of it is all delegated).

I’ve just googled those pictures. I feel a bit better now. Maybe they all look as ropey as me first thing!

I suppose we only see them at their absolute best.

I'd say that nobody who has ever married into the royal family resembles a potato. They are all at least average, usually good looking. Therefore, they have a better chance than Waynetta Slob of looking good once the time and money is poured into their cause, in abundance.

GretaGood · 06/05/2023 19:19

Well surely you only see them at occasions and not when they get out of bed in the morning or walking the dog first thing.

Most people can polish up well for a wedding or similar occasion.

LadyKenya · 06/05/2023 19:19

It is unrealistic to compare yourself to people whose every physical need is taken care of by others. There is no point.

greenacrylicpaint · 06/05/2023 19:20

a good seemstress who can alter anything to fit just right.

plus what everyone else said. it's their job to look polished.

GP75 · 06/05/2023 19:21

It's probably the millions and millions of £ they have in the bank 🤷‍♀️

I know right? 😂It makes you wonder about the others as she is one of the naturally better looking ones.

In real life, Camilla has the skin of a crocodile

Oh yes- absolutely the alterations! Earlier in the coverage one of the talking heads on fashion was praising Kate for her accessible fashion choices from the high street that we could all appreciate and I thought about the alterations and tailoring that must happen as standard to those ‘off the peg’ dresses and coats.

And why not? I would, if I had that ‘job’.

Poblano · 06/05/2023 19:24

Maybe it's time for another Princessing thread?

(Not that that would compete with a chef, nanny, personal trainer, personal hair stylist and made-to-measure clothes)

Livinginanotherworld · 06/05/2023 19:24

Money….. plus a team of make up artists, hairdressers and stylists.

Cascais · 06/05/2023 19:24

Love

Sudeko · 06/05/2023 19:26

Bespoke outfits in expensive fabrics dyed to perfectly match your colours, perfect tan chosen for your complexion, high end haircut and expertly coloured, stay within ideal weight range easily thanks to your cooks and nutritionists permanently collaborating and you are already half there I would say.

You mean apart from lives of leisure, frequent holidays, access to the best diets, the best health & fitness facilities & training money can buy, limitless clothing & grooming budgets and dozens of flunkies to make them look good?

This …

They will have hair stylists, beauticians/ make up artists, fashion designers and stylists.

They have a low stress lifestyle that comes with obscene wealth. Nannies to raise their children, chefs to cook their food, staff to clean their homes, interior designers to furniture their homes, most likely a team of personal assistants to organise their lives…

They live completely different lifestyles, and probably have never worked hard in their entire lives or at least they don’t anymore.

Most people are working long hours for little money, are sleep deprived from balancing taking care of their children with work, cleaning their homes and trying to make their budget stretch to buy some half decent food to feed their families.

You can’t compare yourself to these kind of people, and I doubt there’s a magic product that can give the same results to us normal folk.

spottybug · 06/05/2023 19:29

I want to know what foundation they wear. It never seems to slide off their faces

This is a really good point, Trinny is always advocating for it. Your local seamstress is your friend and it’s not as expensive as you would think.

PlumPeony · 06/05/2023 19:30

Also, most often the pictures we see, are altered/ filters added.

SleepingStandingUp · 06/05/2023 19:31

Honestly OP a week with Kates team, and I big do at the end and I'm sure you'd look as polished.
Skin care routine, decent sleep, make up artfully put on, hair professionally styled, clothes fitted to you, someone literally touching your look up as the Nanny gets the kids into the car. Someone to drive you there.

When she's home and her hair is scrapped back into a pony tail and her make up is off, she'll look far different.

Same for all of them

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 06/05/2023 19:34

This is in no way a ‘dis’ to the Princess Royal (for she is the only one I can tolerate) but when you look at the difference between a Royal who cracks on with the true, altruistic purpose of the job and those who think the role is to ‘look good’, you can see where our money is spent.

Theelephantinthecastle · 06/05/2023 19:35

Think about women you know on their wedding day. Most have professional hair, makeup and a dress tailored to them. It makes a huge difference.

And then add in being able to hand off your kids any time you want - oh little Louis is having a moment, nanny! - the reduced stress and tiredness will help too

Wonnle · 06/05/2023 19:38

Pledge !

putalidonit · 06/05/2023 19:39

Everything is custom made to fit perfectly. Hair and makeup done for you. Tweaks and injectables. Good health and nutrition. It's not hard to figure out.

Very good point actually. I think she’s great. Definitely the most hard working and down to earth royal and I’ve never heard anyone say a bad word about her.

Presumably she has access to the same things the rest of the royals do, but she’s certainly more ‘normal’ looking than the rest of them.

I’d love a few million in the bank! But what are they spending money on? What are they buying? Is is certain products, paying people to do hair and make up or is it just stress free life knowing that the nanny will take the kids to school and they haven’t got to put up with annoying colleagues for 7 hours a day?!

A few million? Charles has got at least 1,800 million pounds 'in the bank'.

Your post sounds like you view them somewhat like a middle class family that's done quite well for themselves...

In reality their lifestyle is so beyond any of our life experiences that there's no point even pondering those trivial questions about the nanny taking away stress etc.

Iirc they (as in we, really) employ someone to put toothpaste on Charles' toothbrush every morning. Like he's an actual toddler. That's power for you. Every single whim is catered for, as it has been for all his family, for generations, every single day, from the moment they wake up to the moment they fall asleep.

The only time they're in danger of encountering any cortisol is those rare occasions the press dare to get slightly uppity after one of them is found (again) to be a liar, or corrupt, or just really, really good mates with high profile sex offender. And even then they can relax knowing that for them, mud doesn't stick.

That's the key to looking as 'polished' as the royal family - be a royal.

ipswichwitch · 06/05/2023 19:44

I’d assume it down to not having to deal with all the day to day shit that grinds you down. No money/job/house worries. I mean, they’re not juggling demanding kids while trying to paint the skirting boards and sort out a cheaper gas tariff are they?
i’d
probably look a damn sight more polished if I had the time, energy and money to do so!
