Do I bite the bullet and buy these boots?

For a few years I've wanted these boots, but I've never justified the cost! Do I bit the bullet and buy them or find an alternative?

It seems like a lot of money for some pretty ordinary looking boots. And not really the season to buy them.

The OP is in Australia.

They aren't ordinary. They're not to my taste but I can see they aren't ordinary.

Re not "really the season" - well that's just bizarre.

There's a current "how to get French style " thread which links through to these jeans worn with boots very much like the ones the OP is considering.

OK, autumn there then. But still think they're overpriced and not special

I disagree, I don't think they're special and do think they're overpriced. The boots on the photo you added seem to have better heels too.

The heels are pretty much identical.

Anyone who is moaning about quality of the boots but hasn't tried them, please can you just listen to those of us who have boots from there and are saying what our actual experience of them is instead? They're great quality, they're literally designed for use in the Australian outback where you might be a ten hour drive from the nearest shop so things need to last.

Op, please can you just get on and buy them so we can all move on? If you've liked the style for years you're not going to regret at least trying them on to see if they're comfy enough to commit to.

midsomermurderess · 02/05/2023 12:22

And just looking at the website, the steps involved, something like 80, required to make their boots, tells you that, like them or not, whether you’d pay that for them, they are, objectively, not ordinary.

Sorryyoufeelthatway · 02/05/2023 17:46

Yes they are dated but no you CANNOT get this quality from “Primark for 50p” ffs. People on this board look down on anyone who doesn’t snt dress head to toe in TU and George.

I have some Williams flat Chelsea boots and they are fantastic.

NatashaDancing · 02/05/2023 18:10

How do you determine they are "dated"?

Unless a poster is thinking of wearing a hooped skirt, corset and bonnet I'm not sure the MN proclamations of what is or isn't "dated" are worth a peck.

(Otherwise agreed)

Robinni · 02/05/2023 22:37

After 5 days of debate - please buy the boots!

You’ve spent a long time considering and still like them. They are good quality so will last. And the style is not radical so likely they’ll look good in a few years time still I’d you haven’t worn them out by then.

Buy and enjoy!

Hop27 · 02/05/2023 22:42

I'm passing the shop today after a meeting, will keep everyone posted. Sorry didn't think this would generate so many replies!
I had no idea that such a classic item could be considered 'dated' considering some of the styles that are debated on here!

I have these Maya boots in Chestnut and I absolutely love them! They look fab with Jeans and dresses. My son works part time in a shoe shop that sells RMs, Barkers etc and he tells me that RM Williams shoes last forever if you look after them.

n3wnamewhodis · 03/05/2023 09:15

Late to the game here but I say get the boots. They're lovely. You love them. They'll feel great. They look great. Get them.

Update on the infamous boots
I had a particularly bad day at work so went to buy them to fix the week that was (this was a couple of weeks ago) and they had completely sold out of my size, they only make a few per year !
Gutted, literally could have cried. (Dramatic I know)
Then yesterday, I had another bad at day at work and did a quick google and found them (last pair in my size!) and 20% off
So I've still not tried them on, but they are arriving this week 😍

Excellent!

2pence · 08/07/2023 09:01

Did you buy the first ones? The more witchy/Victorian shape? If so, I don't agree that they're dated as others are saying.

Vintage is huge currently and those first boots really do have that vibe.

Enjoy them. They're divine.

Hop27 · 08/07/2023 09:06

I bought the first ones and they are amazing 🤩
