Do I bite the bullet and buy these boots?

For a few years I've wanted these boots, but I've never justified the cost! Do I bit the bullet and buy them or find an alternative?

I think they're lovely boots and look as though they would be really comfortable. I'm surprised you can't find something identical for less but if you really love them and can afford them, then I would get them.

Iltakethat · 29/04/2023 20:28

You should obviously get them if you love them but I’m afraid I agree with others that they’re a very generic style and not really fashionable atm. They’re very “long” at the front!

Growlybear83 · 29/04/2023 20:32

I don't understand why it matters if they are fashionable or not - surely you buy things because you like them and not because they are trendy?

Totalwasteofpaper · 29/04/2023 06:30

Personally...if

  • you love them and have want them for a long time
  • can afford them
  • they bring you joy

Crack on and buy them.

I have some identical to those that came from M&S. But if you love them, get them. Sounds as if you've been able to save up for them.

Not to my taste- but if you like them and can afford them then go for it.

Personally I would never pay this much for footwear.

I am also very protective of my back and foot health.

I never wear heels, I think they are unhealthy for foot and lower back.
I also would never wear shoes, with triangular or pointed fronts, particulary if they have heels which push the foot forward- it is a recipe for bunions.

I am in my 60s and my feet are perfect. I have cared for them really well over my life, and have no bunions, hammer toes, no callouses, no corns, no ingrown toenails,no deformities many of theseare caused by bad shoes.
I see other women's feet regularly, and most women my age seem to have bunions.

My face may give away my age, but my feet don't. I have the feet of a 14 year old and they serve me very well.

A lot of foot problems such as bunions are caused by women having looser ligaments then men. Our natural stretchiness causes the problems rather than footwear.
As long as your feet are pain free I don’t think it matters how pretty your feet are. I would rather have gnarly ballet dancer feet that can do amazing things than 14 year feet.
We’ve enough stupid stuff to worry about looking nice already.

Simon Cowell wears these

ShinyShinyShinyBootsOfLeather · 29/04/2023 21:38

Yes! Simon Cowell

They also remind me of male flamenco shoes (which have their place, but it wouldn't be on my feet)

Hop27 · 30/04/2023 00:13

Lots of women and men in my industry wear them (not farming), I'm sure they hand them out with industry related degrees!
I'm not fashionable, never proclaim to be. I wear what I like, lots of neutrals and simple shapes. I would wear them like the snips attached. Last year I bought a nearly $300 pair of boots and they are trashed, so would prefer to invest this year for winter. It's autumn here.

What are you unsure about?

Is it paying so much for boots? Or that the boots aren't right for you?

Hop27 · 30/04/2023 06:23

I've had ridiculously expensive shoes before (Jimmy Choos and Louboutin's), which I know are a very different product. But either I found them massively uncomfortable or got upset when they inevitable got worn, scratched or scuffed) so I tend to sit at a price point somewhere in the middle. Also we have a very short winter, 2 months of mid to high teens. So cost per wear is high unless I can wear them to work. Which I think I can.

Buy them OP they would look great with the ypes of outfits you've shown!

Marchintospring · 30/04/2023 07:08

Those photo show 3 different boots surely? The black dress woman might be wearing them as boots have tags but the sweatshirt photo boots seem flatter. And the other has no tags. Which says to me at least you have options.
Its that heel which makes it looks odd. It’s a boot which isn’t one thing ( cowboy) or another ( smart city boot).
I do think the look in the photos work though.

Coolhwip · 30/04/2023 07:16

I have a voucher for KG that is expiring today. can someone help, are these boots lace ups or are the laces decorative? I ask because the boots are zip up too.

Hop27 · 30/04/2023 07:20

There are a few different heel heights, but I'm
definitely a high heel type of style. (Hugely unfashionable in the eyes of MN)

For me, it isn't the fact they are high heels which makes them look a bit off to me. It's the whole shape with the high heel which makes the upper need to curve downwards and then the toe lifts up at the end. It makes them look wrong to me.

But if this shape is honestly your dream boot, then don't panic about the price. Did someone say they have a lifetime guarantee? I cannot see what the issue is unless you're unsure of the style?

ShinyShinyShinyBootsOfLeather · 30/04/2023 08:05

There are plenty of high heel boots I actually like

Not really, I'm afraid! Whatever I post someone will say "omg I can't believe you like THOSE. Op's boots are quality innit. You just can't see quality".

I prefer the ones you just posted in terms of shape, but you cannot expect them to be the same quality at that price. So I would keep looking. Are there no other high heeled boots on the RMW site or is that the only ones they do?

Hop27 · 30/04/2023 08:18

@ShinyShinyShinyBootsOfLeather
That's the highest they do, and I love the tags!

If you love them just buy the fecking boots op 😂. I mean that in the nicest possible way. You can't expect everyone to like them. We don't even live in the same hemisphere and fashion and taste might read completely differently in Australia. And lots of people on here love them too.

I don't like them, but who cares?

ShinyShinyShinyBootsOfLeather · 30/04/2023 08:24

Fwiw, I'm not a fan of the Debenhams ones either. I saw a few in Fairfax and Favour which I like, but I'm not shopping for boots ATM. I will be for next winter though and will have a try on there
