I LOVE a dipped hem!

Do I need to say *light-hearted? 🤣

I care not a jot for what is or is not decreed acceptable in fashion terms: love a bit of leopard print, you’ll prise my cardigan collection out of my cold dead hands, and similarly I love a breton top or six. I guess I’m thoroughly old. Hey ho! My style is pretty fluid and I have everything from Lucy and Yak dungas to tailored jackets. I think it’s got nothing to do with the item of clothing but how you wear it that makes it your own.

JaneJeffer · 29/04/2023 19:03

A huge collar @Kanaloa

Bit loud 😞 and leaves the forehead exposed.

BirdChirp · 29/04/2023 21:07

Indoor scarves, though I guess they are not a trend. They probably age me, don't care, I like being warm and having a bit of variety to what I'm wearing.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/04/2023 21:54

Are "indoor scarves" like the chiffony/silky ones or are they 'proper' scarves like wool or cashmere ?

If the former then, Yes , I wear them !

louderthan · 29/04/2023 21:57

Hoop earrings, blingy designer logos, anything leopard print, trainers that aren't Veja/Stan Smith, also I'm 42 and wear mini skirts.

I raise you patterned cardigans. I have a blue one with daisies, a green and purple one, fair isle ones.

Cardi gang here too! I can also raise your tasteful daisies with mine with its big lemons all over! 😆

Yes, the thinner ones, though mine are mainly cotton rather than chiffon.

Crayfishforyou · 30/04/2023 08:28

Mum jeans suit me.
I iron most of my clothes, which are either secondhand designer, vintage, or both!

Pyaar · 30/04/2023 09:00

Yes to hoop earrings!!! 😍

WillowtreeHouse · 30/04/2023 09:53

I'm wearing a cream ribbed cardi with brightly coloured cuffs and neck right now. The horror!

Craftycorvid · 30/04/2023 10:17

Raise you cashmere cardi’ with contrast piping,@WillowtreeHouse 😆

stepMummY1 · 30/04/2023 10:37

Skinny jeans
Real diamonds
Breton tops

Theelephantinthecastle · 30/04/2023 10:39

Viscose for me too.

I am a non sweaty person who hates ironing

Vivfor60 · 30/04/2023 11:32

I love wearing maxi dresses, even though I am a short arse. I just buy midis and the they are maxis on me😊. I feel sure this is a style crime on MN. Also love an animal print.

Vivfor60 · 30/04/2023 11:33

Viscose I don't mind too much, but it a cheek to charge hundreds for a viscose dress IMHO.

Vivfor60 · 30/04/2023 11:34

I also iron clothes, they look so much better.

Apparently "indoor scarves" are so dated according to a recent thread. Although equally there's a poster who lives in a French village where all the locals are effortlessly stylish compared with the British partly because of how they wear scarves.

I don't suppose the design teams at Hermès, Delvaux and Liberty are losing sleep over whether "indoor scarves" are dated.

WhereAreWeNow · 30/04/2023 12:40

I will never not love cardis. I've been loving cardis since I was a kid. Not going to stop anytime soon.

ProstituteHair · 30/04/2023 14:15

@NatashaDancing, there is a world of difference though between and artfully tied Hermès scarf and a droopy lightweight scarf looped around the neck. Just as there's a world of difference between a brightly patterned blowsy cold-shoulder number from Dorothy Perkins and a cashmere off-the-shoulder, draped and pleated top from Khaite.

They come under the same heading but are very different things. (I'm using extremes for illustrative purposes, I'm not judging anyone's taste here!).

That's why these threads never end up 'lighthearted', style is extremely personal. Try posting about wearing heels, you'll get eviserated, S&B has a tendency to lack nuance.

Quod ali cibus est aliis fuat acre venenum, and all that!

Amen to that. I definitely don't have enough cardigans. I'm a knitter and have never yet made one. It's on my long list of future projects!

But an artfully tied scarf can look good too. It's doesn't have to be a horrifically expensive one. I have a friend who just had that 'thing' can make just about anything look fabulous by how she wears it. I, unfortunately, do not have that 'thing'.

I wouldn’t necessarily know a designer scarf if it bit me on the bum. A scarf/item of clothing can look good irrespective of it’s provenance.

RampantIvy · 30/04/2023 20:32

I wouldn't recognise a designer bag unless the logo was clearly displayed and then it would have to be one I am familiar with.

nofusspot · 30/04/2023 21:02

Why are people bashing older people now?

Anyway. Personally I hate white trainers with dresses - is that still a thing on here?

The thing about scarves, for me, is that Hermès are actually better quality than anything else. The silk has a weight to it which cheaper ones don't. The rolled, stitched edges don't fray. I got my first one in 1995, the edges are firmly in place. I've got beautiful scarves from other places, not cheap either but not Hermès, and the edges have unraveled.
