I LOVE a dipped hem!

Do I need to say *light-hearted? 🤣

@NatashaDancing I was saying that society tells women that they are hideous and unattractive when they are older so women feel they have no option other than to expose nothing more than the smallest little parts of them. Like their shoulders. Poke them out of little holes whilst hiding everything else rather than letting society be blinded by the hideousness of old age. I am not saying I think society is blinded by the hideousness of old age. I am saying that is the message women are sold.

Nottodayy · 29/04/2023 16:50

Embroidered florals, Joules jackets..

Shoulders poking out of holes so you can hide the rest of your hideous old lady body ( not what I think but what people seem to feel older women should do), is not chic.
Ok @pfftt there's your full sentence. It's no better.

My statement is pretty obvious. It is clear it is not what I think. It even says it's not what I think but you still can't understand. I can't be even be bothered. It's beyond your comprehension

Animal print

I love animal print. I like to unleash my inner Bet Lynch sometimes.

JaneJeffer · 29/04/2023 16:53

@pfftt don't you think it's up to the individual which body parts they feel comfortable showing off?

BatshitCrazyWoman · 29/04/2023 16:56

Cardigans (I must have nearly 20 of them). Skinny jeans. Viscose. Knitwear that's not made out of wool (I'm allergic). 🙂

I raise you patterned cardigans. I have a blue one with daisies, a green and purple one, fair isle ones.

Quinque · 29/04/2023 17:00

I do like a nice Seasalt print.

wendywoopywoo222 · 29/04/2023 17:12

I love my Mum jeans and cardigans.

lucylantern · 29/04/2023 17:19

I iron my clothes which according to Mumsnet means I have no life.

I also can take or leave pockets on dresses!

And as I said you are now backtracking from your original post. Here is what you said.

Because they scream 'old woman with crepey skin and bingo wings who thinks showing off her shoulders is somehow attractive.

You're very keen on telling people they can't read/ read what's written but you should maybe apply that to yourself too. You certainly have not read or understood my response to you.

VikingLady · 29/04/2023 17:25

Knee high boots with skinny jeans or thick leggings, with a tunic top. I feel like I stepped out of a medieval fantasy. And my tummy is hidden.

Very very structured bras (38GG and not a fan of getting nipples trapped in my waistband)

Fun things. I'm fat and over forty, grey and getting wrinkly. If I can't dye my hair weird colours and wear sparkly tops or big 1980s style belt buckles now, when can I? Who am I meant to look elegant and understated for, exactly? I'd rather relax a bit. And it's a good example for my kids.

JustRingJoeDuffy · 29/04/2023 18:00

Long cardigans
Seasalt tunics
Kipling bags
Ironing. I enjoy settling down on a Saturday afternoon with a pile of laundry to make nice and pressed watching the four-in-a-bed omnibus. ☕

@knobheadex I don't think old people look shit I think old people can look fabulous!

Well if old people look a bit shit they might as well wear what the fuck they like. If they look shit then they’ll look equally shit in an elegant fucking boatneck.

DancingWithTheMoonlitKnight · 29/04/2023 18:48

I wouldn't like to offend anyone showing my old crepey neck in an elegant boat neck. Perhaps I should wear a polo neck at all times.

And what about the face? A balaclava I suppose! An elegant one, in a neutral colour obviously.

JaneJeffer · 29/04/2023 19:03

A huge collar @Kanaloa

Puff sleeves 😁

Me too! And if that’s wrong then I don’t want to be right

WirKindervomBahnhofZoo · 29/04/2023 19:50

I wasn't aware that the question from the op was " what does @pfftt think is acceptable." So its's ok for us to to wear cardigans to cover our wobbly backsides but heaven forbid we should wear a cold shoulder top? Maybe I have misunderstood the question?

WillowtreeHouse · 29/04/2023 19:56

@pfftt I really wanted this thread to remain positive and a bit of fun. There's wasn't really any need for it not to have stayed that way.
