Friend's 50th birthday. DH doesn't like one because it's too grannyish and MIL says that one is better (but then, she is a granny!)
Which is better? I prefer one over the other, but my fashion sense is questionable

Black jeans and probably a dark blue (or black?) cardigan with it

Sticking with your favourite colours is not necessarily a good thing. You need to get outside advice.

It's perfectly okay to stick to one's favourite colours without outside advice. Getting dressed doesn't have to be a series of rules.

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie
You're absolutely right, however, when individuals are in a quandary to the point that they ask strangers what to choose or how to dress, that opens the floor to advice which is what I offered.

I think the OP deserves credit for having the guts to come back to the thread, for engaging with and responding to posters and their suggestions, for staying polite , for not losing her temper or being rude to anyone. I don't think any posters were rude directly to the OP but there were some strong comments about her choices.

I hope she can take something positive from it. I'm sure there are many posters who thought when they saw her photos "I wish I had her figure" . I did.

Another vote for Melissa Murrell....

The purple one is absolutely stunning on you.

Whatever top you find I hope you love it and have a great time.

@OldGrannyish you have a great figure please get in touch with Nicole. She is absolutely fabulous and will make you feel and look a million dollars.

Nicole stylist

She can do online consultations too. If that's not your thing follow her on FB - Love Your Look. She has loads of good advice and tips.

Disclaimer I am not her, I follow her on FB and I used to work with her.

Agreed again.

Both unflattering & boring. A silk blouse could be the answer,

Madamecastafiore · 06/05/2023 17:24

God you've a cracking figure. I'm way older than you and got wide leg black trousers from Zara and matching black waistcoat. Wore it loads with nothing under the waistcoat and my trendy younger friends all said looked v cool. Chucked on a few necklaces and voila.

Doesmybumlook40 and other instagramers for 40+ always have fab ideas that don't mark you out as having lost your fashion mojo.
