Well, we're in the run up to C day, now. Thanks to @chesterelly for the thread title suggestion 😊

@AdaColeman - it is Limoges!
@justasking111 - your parure sounds beautiful, and how lovely for your DIL. I bought a cameo ring years ago in an antique shop in Dundee, it's very pretty.

I love to see the boxes too. My late MIL had quite the collection of jewellery art Deco era. All in Wartskis of London boxes. Burglars took the lot. Anything of value I wasn't wearing three months later was stolen in a burglary. 😪

I keep anything of value in a vault now with two keys hidden elsewhere. They'd have to demolish a wall to get it out.

Weird but true we knew a Jewish wholesale jeweller who had to drive around with samples. Now he kept everything in a false drain in the garden.

gluenotsoup · 08/04/2023 12:23

The pearl parure sounds beautiful. You have some lovelies there, Maireas.
Mine are not worth anything, but the crystal spray in the centre and the hair pin were worn on my wedding day. That one belonged to my grandmother but the others we’re given to me as a child by an elderly friend of the family. No idea where they can from other than that.

Very pretty, @gluenotsoup I love the crystal spray and the cameo.
That's so sad, @justasking111 . It's not so much the items, it's the sentiment as well.

It is the sentiment. One was a silver christening bracelet larger size that I had received aged 14 as a bridesmaid an extendable one that needed repairing. The signet ring from my granny with my initials on when I was ten. It was bent, battered, only fitted my pinky finger. Again I loved it 😪

So sad. They're literally irreplaceable. 💐

I do feel for you, @justasking111. The same thing happened to my mum, in a burglary. All her jewellery- not that she had a lot- was taken, but in it was her wedding and engagement rings, and she’s still upset about it years later. She did find her fury though and wrote a teeny little note along the lines of “ You’re too late you bastard, the last thief took it all” to hide inside the jewellery box in case it happened again.

I don't want just working royals on the balcony. It's the Coronation & as they usually don't come round very often I want the whole damn family on the balcony & that includes all HMQ's grandchildren, Linleys, Chattos, Gloucesters & Kents & Camilla's family with her being Queen & anyone else I've forgotten too.

The front of the balcony can be working royals with everyone else behind them with Andrew hidden right at the back.

@notsuchafrugalkitty just checking it is you with the Hottie in the airing cupboard?

Yes, it's me!

Eaumyword · 08/04/2023 15:18

Happy Easter everyone - I've made a start on my eggs already!🤭
Loving the brooch photo's.

KillingMeDeftly · 09/04/2023 09:11

Some royal-ish baby news - Stephanie of Monaco is now a grandmother. Her son and his wife have chosen to share a photo of the baby's foot, which I know lots of you will be thrilled to see 🤣

I've been wondering if the coronation will follow the dutch model where all the royal guests wore long dresses and hats? Not even Beatrix wore a tiara.. it was just Max!

This is what I wondered a few threads back. Big looking like it will happen now though.
It has a name for this dress code but I can't recall what it is.

paradyning · 09/04/2023 10:19

There's a bit of an explanation of the dress code here. Can't find the original

I don't think the British royals really do that long dress with hat dress code do they? So it will be coatdresses agogo.

Yes it looks like it.
I was supposing whilst there was discussion of tiara but they have gone with boring normality

ChicoryDip · 09/04/2023 11:21

The RF have arrived at St George's Chapel for the Easter service.

Kate and Camilla both in royal blue. I think Kate's is a rewear?

Love Beatrice's cream and black dress. Less keen on Zara in the pink.

AdaColeman · 09/04/2023 11:29

Happy Easter everyone!

I think that the last time that long dress & hat dress code was observed was at Princess Margaret's wedding, way back in 1960, so they won't be returning to that. Charles wants to present himself as a modern monarch.

The Coronation guest list includes over 800 charity and community workers, an innovatory idea from Charles. 400 of these will be seated in St. Margaret's Church to watch a live screening of events. The remaining 400 plus will be in the Abbey, so that's almost a quarter of the congregation.
I think that it's this social mix of people which has influenced the much more relaxed dress code Charles seems to favour.

ChicoryDip · 09/04/2023 11:31

A few more photos. I like Sophie's coat but not so much the boots and the hat. Eugenie looks lovely.

And Kate has a lovely dark red manicure!

I think Beatrice looks the best there. Kate's ensemble is a nice colour but the cut makes her look too much like an inverted triangle and as usual, Zara looks like she went shopping in Karen Millen circa 2008.

Stravawindow · 09/04/2023 11:43

I agree Beatrice looks lovely. I do not understand why the RF dress the children in the way Louis is dressed. Awful. Not keen on seeing George in a suit either. Just dress them as kids.

chesterelly1 · 09/04/2023 11:47

I think Beatrice is in a re-wear too, with an added bow belt. And despite everything I've said in the past about Zara needing to stick to lower/v necklines I quite like her dress today. Don't know if it's the angle or a trick of the asymmetric buttons but she doesn't look as trussed up as usual.
