Colour will not be a problem! I shall be radiant in hi-viz 😉

Maireas · 07/04/2023 16:28

Tell me you'll at least have your tiara on?

OP posts:
ArcaneWireless · 07/04/2023 16:45

But of course!☺️

All day Saturday 😊.

(H&S permitting)

Here you go

Lovely! I can't photograph all of mine, but I have a few beauties I'll share later.

Also a lonely little hair pin

I have found a wow brooch yet. This particular charity shop has a first floor bridal section I wonder if they have tiaras 😁

Maireas · 07/04/2023 17:48

Oooh, I bet they do.

The Queen looks lovely in navy and white in Maundy Thursday. She does love a good hat.

Charlene and Caroline would appear to have a good friendship from that hug. I hope so.
Charlene always looks like she needs a good huggle as ds used to say.

Does anyone else have the fear that dress down coronation wear will be wall to wall coatdresses?

Now that would be disappointing. Another pastel coat dress on Kate 🥱

CarolinaInTheMorning · 07/04/2023 18:15

Hats with long dresses used to be de rigueur for formal day events.

The late Queen at Princess Margaret's wedding.

Maireas · 07/04/2023 18:53

They did - I don't like that look, @CarolinaInTheMorning . Beautiful colour, though.

Please tell me I haven't ordered a new TV (to watch the Coronation- DH thinks it's for sport) and there will be less bling than Coronation Street?!? Shock

That’s dedication right there! 👏🏼

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 07/04/2023 19:43

@ArcaneWireless tbh the current one will only turn itself on after you've begged and pleaded with it multiple times, with much jabbing of buttons - there may be some swearing too.
It's only got days left I think, but it was 10 last month - is that a good "innings" for a telly these days?🤷‍♀️

ArcaneWireless · 07/04/2023 19:48

My little telly is about 18 years old I think. A gert big 20 incher! If that!

I think anything over 10 is a bloody good innings. And to be honest an on the wonk telly that weekend would give me a wee bit dread of potential fomo!

Maireas · 07/04/2023 19:50

Wow, good life span for a tv. You're giving me ideas though about a splendid new set for May 6th at Maireas Manor.....

I went for an LG from AO, 55" upsizing from 42" so I should be able to nuzzle the horses that pull the carriages. Grin

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 07/04/2023 20:20

Arcane DH retired 5ish years ago, since then it's been used quite a bit, IYSWIM...I'm also that age when you don't sleep much, so it's seen some nocturnal hours too.

AdaColeman · 07/04/2023 20:48

I love that outfit for Margaret's wedding, the clear colour, the gorgeous silk and lace fabric, the beautiful simple shape, Norman Hartnell at his best.

I like the roses on the hat, echoing Margaret Rose's name. The Mall was arched with roses on the day!
The brooch Elizabeth wore is the True Lover's Knot brooch, her largest diamond brooch. Bought from Garrard in 1932 by Queen Mary, it dates from the late 19th century.
Mary often wore it centrally on her chest. Elizabeth often wore it to State Banquets, or on Remembrance Day.

notsuchafrugalkitty · 07/04/2023 20:54

My husband surprised me earlier by asking if I'd like to go up to London to see the coronation on the day. My first thought? How will I mumsnet? 😂😂😂

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 07/04/2023 20:55

@notsuchafrugalkitty and not "how will I get my tiara there in one piece"???👑😁

Maireas · 07/04/2023 20:57

Your husband? Or Hottie Haakon? 🤔

clicky link to the Express.

Just read that Lady Louise won't be on the balcony with her parents, etc. due to her not being a "working" royal.
Obvs, working in a garden centre whilst studying doesn't count.
Shame.

Lady Louise Windsor to miss out on Charles' Coronation balcony spot

Lady Louise Windsor will not join her parents, Prince Edward and Sophie, the new Duchess of Edinburgh, on the Buckingham Palace balcony during the grand finale of King Charles' Coronation.

I should point out that by mumsnet, I meant, these threads! I'm not sure spending the day with DH is quite the same as spending it watching at home with you for company in my phone!
