Well, we're in the run up to C day, now. Thanks to @chesterelly for the thread title suggestion 😊

Hello @TracyBeakerSoYeah!
Cams looks lovely in navy with white accents.

Greengreented · 06/04/2023 20:00

Hi all, thanks for the new thread (bit late). My DH has announced he’s off out cycling on the day of the coronation as he’s not interested in it, so that’s me and the dog booked in for a lovely day watching it all. I am going to (try to) save one of my Easter eggs for the day too!

viewsoftheshard · 06/04/2023 20:34

Thank you for the new thread. I’m so looking forward to seeing all the fashion (and hopefully tiara’s)

viewsoftheshard · 06/04/2023 20:35

We’re doing a coronation high tea with our kids and friends to watch it all together (The 12 year old is not that enthusiastic) What to wear though?

Maireas · 06/04/2023 21:26

Waves to new friends and re-joiners 👋
Some great plans for the Coronation, we are going to enjoy this in style, my friends 😉

The Monaco RF have attended a memorial service for Prince Ranier.

Caroline looks very elegant I think. I like this photo of Charlotte embracing Charlene. Looks like there's real warmth between them, which is nice to see.

It is nice to see, @MotherofPearl and I'm glad that Charlene continues to look well and recovered. All very elegant.

If your interest has been sparked by Charles & Camilla's pretty invitation with its Green Man, there is a nice article about historic coronation invitations on the BBC News website.

Search for "Coronation invitations through the ages" in the BBC News search box.

ArcaneWireless · 06/04/2023 22:37

I too think there is genuine affection in that embrace motherofpearl.

God knows if I’d have been in those circles, I would have been desperate to give her a nanna style bosie.

<gets the Russian Nuptial Tiara out of its tissue paper ready for 6th May. Realises it could do with a bit of a clean-up. Calculates how much gin she'd need to immerse it (apparently what the QM's staff used to use to clean her diamond stuff). Gives up and pops it in the dishwasher>

@SqueakyDinosaur you've got a whopper of a tiara there

Tiara Thursday: The Russian Nuptial Tiara

A German noble wedding linked in Tidbits over the summer featured a bride wearing a rather spectacular diamond tiara with a row of dangling...

@views

@viewsoftheshard Full on bling, sparkles and gown of course. You need to show how it's done properly since King Charles is having a dress down day for his coronation.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 07/04/2023 09:25

Just catching up! I missed the new thread!!!

I like Camilla's navy and white Maudy Thursday outfit. Very stylish, whoever is responsible for her wardrobe is doing a great job.

Loving the idea of floating a malteaser on an espresso martini, that is the kind of genius I am here for!

In other news, I may have to disown my mother for heresy. We were chatting jewels and bling the other day and she said she thought Max's Stewart Tiara was "a bit much" faints

As if there is such a thing as too much diamond tiara!

I've shipped her off to a re-education camp, she loves a good broach so maybe she's not beyond saving.

Maireas · 07/04/2023 09:35

Morning, @JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon !!
Good grief. Too much? No such thing. Please direct her to images of the late Queen Mary in all her gem fabulousness!

Is quite like to bag Meghan's or Zara's wedding tiaras but I guess I'll have to make do with the one I already own...

gingercat02 · 07/04/2023 11:21

The Queen looks lovely in navy and white in Maundy Thursday. She does love a good hat.

Charlene and Caroline would appear to have a good friendship from that hug. I hope so.
Charlene always looks like she needs a good huggle as ds used to say.

Does anyone else have the fear that dress down coronation wear will be wall to wall coatdresses?

Maireas · 07/04/2023 11:28

Please, @gingercat02 ... I can't bear the thought (shudders)

I bought another brooch in a charity shop. Now have four 😁

Maireas · 07/04/2023 12:11

Oh, nice @justasking111 . Can we see it? I have quite the collection. I love them.

I've been wondering if the coronation will follow the dutch model where all the royal guests wore long dresses and hats? Not even Beatrix wore a tiara.. it was just Max!

Royal Style and Beauty: Open the vaults, alert the nation, get out bling for the Coronation!
Maireas · 07/04/2023 15:23

Interesting, @Gooseysgirl . I think long dresses with hats doesn't look right, somehow. Those dresses with tiaras, or shorter with the hats.

Totally agree!!! Long dresses and hats gives me more 70s wedding vibes (all the rage in my parents wedding pics!!)

LadyVictoriaSponge · 07/04/2023 15:41

The more I hear about the dress code of the Coronation the more disappointed I am, suits and day dresses? One of the reasons I am interested in royalty is the pomp and pageantry and I’m sorry but the European model leaves me cold, No tiaras, no robes, no coronets, no point.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 07/04/2023 16:13

Hello & 👋 to @Eaumyword
Hats with long dresses oh my word!

We want tiaras!
And when do we want them?
We want them now well May 6th 2023 if we are being precise!
Stamps foot 🦶very hard!

ArcaneWireless · 07/04/2023 16:20

I think there will be plenty of tiaras floating about elsewhere. 😏

I like day dresses. Copies filter to the high street and we can then purchase them for our special events. Same with pretty shoes.

To be fair, that isn’t me due to thankles and trotters but I’m living in hope of a lovely trouser suit or jumpsuit… and an enclosed shoe 😳

Lovely things are lovely things but I’m easily pleased like that. And there is bound to be a tiny bit of bling. 🤞🏼

I’ll be happy enough with the pomp that there will be. I should imagine there will be plenty 😉

Maireas · 07/04/2023 16:26

I'm definitely looking forward to all the colour and pageantry. I recall reading that when the last Coronation was being planned, concerns were raised because it was a time of austerity. Churchill quite rightly said, and I paraphrase - people deserve colour, pageantry and a party!
