Well, we're in the run up to C day, now. Thanks to @chesterelly for the thread title suggestion 😊

little Prince Charles is so gorgeous

AdaColeman · 29/04/2023 23:04

It must be a time of great change for Sophie, her new status, her daughter far away at university, changes to the monarchy, she's probably still grieving for Her Maj too. No wonder she looks a bit at sixes and sevens sometimes.
Apparently she's just had her hair colour brightened at the Richard Ward salon in Chelsea where Kate sometimes goes, so that must have lifted her spirits!

mathanxiety · 30/04/2023 03:44

Gosh, Camilla should wear red more often.

Sophie looks very small there and I never thought of her as particularly short. Maybe those men are 7ft tall.

Apparently she's 5'5 plus she's wearing heels there, so fairly average height. Those men are athletes though and could all be well over 6'.

themessygarden · 30/04/2023 08:29

Alexandra's wedding dress is very unappealing, the runway version is stunning, different fabric to the wedding dress possibly, hence it doesn't 'float' as well as the runway one.

KillingMeDeftly · 30/04/2023 09:05

Something about the design makes Alexandra look like she's slouching and I'm sure she isn't. But she looks happy and radiant, which is the most important thing!

It looks like it needs hoiking up and back a bit. It looks like quite a weighty fabric too, whereas the runway version looks more closely fitted and a lighter weight.
Disclaimer- I know nothing about dressmaking 😂

KillingMeDeftly · 30/04/2023 10:08

Looking ahead and it's not long now before the big Jordanian royal wedding. I wonder if we'll see lots of crowned heads descending on Amman? I do hope so, purely for the glam factor! It's the sort of thing Edward and Sophie used to be sent to but perhaps William and Kate will go this time.

LadyEloise1 · 30/04/2023 11:09

Any photos of Alexandra's mother at the wedding ?
She of a certain reputation.
I'm not keen on the wedding dress but the runway version is fab. Whoever said the fabric on the wedding dress was too stiff was spot on.

Serenster · 30/04/2023 11:20

Maria Teresa wore Elie Saab too, LadyElose1. Not very successfully, either, to my mind. Leaving aside the comical size of the shoulder embellishment, a black one-shouldered jumpsuit says black tie evening reception to me, rather than Mother of the Bride in a church ceremony on a sunny afternoon in France.

Maireas · 30/04/2023 11:24

Oh dear no, MT. Not a great look, really. It's a jumpsuit as well. ☹️

Just what made Elie Saab think that a gigantic Savoy cabbage perched on a shoulder, would be a charming and becoming decorative feature for a wedding outfit?

The more I look at that outfit the more bizarre it seems.

Will be forever known as the 'Cabbage Dress' in my head.

KillingMeDeftly · 30/04/2023 11:55

Who is that with GDMT? Her youngest? I think there's one more boy after Alexandra.

You are right that she has a younger son, but that’s not him - he has a much stockier figure than that and looks very like Guillaume. The chap with GDMT might be a relative of the groom, perhaps?

KillingMeDeftly · 30/04/2023 11:59

I can see poor Alexandra posting on MN as we speak "AIBU to feel my mother tried to upstage me on my wedding day by wearing a jumpsuit with a giant corsage?"

Yes, I thought he didn't look like any of them.

Serenster · 30/04/2023 12:03

Here’s three of the four brothers (minus oldest Guillaume) at the civil marriage ceremony last week - the one on the right is the youngest, Sébastien (I had to look that up 😀).

She must have the bladder of a camel. Getting that off in the bathroom must be a challenge 😂

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 30/04/2023 13:07

@KillingMeDeftly That pic of Alexandra you posted this morning makes her look quite a bit pregnant.
Assuming she isn't, that's really not a good for the designer to produce.

I loved Sophie in her "dress down" casual outfit. Nobody was really going to notice her sans tiara Smile

I know. He's one of my favorite designers, but this is just, well, words fail me.

Whitershadeofpale · 30/04/2023 13:28

I think it’s fair to say the wedding hasn’t been a sartorial highlight for anyone 😬

Elie Saab may not have had a choice.
He who pays the piper and all that Smile

Spudlet · 30/04/2023 15:42

She who pays the piper may well fling a shoe at the piper’s head if he doesn’t stick a giant cabbage onto her shoulder?

Or maybe the cabbage is vengeance for one too many bits of ballistic footwear… ‘No, you look simply fabulous darling…’ 😈
