Well, we're in the run up to C day, now. Thanks to @chesterelly for the thread title suggestion 😊

(and a tiara, naturally)

gluenotsoup · 14/04/2023 15:11

Ha! I’m in Kate territory in skinnies and a Breton stripe top … probably not very cutting edge 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 14/04/2023 18:08

@SqueakyDinosaur Grey, black, all shades of purple. I don't mind pinks and peachy colours but they don't suit me. I'd wear navy or pale blue at a push, but they were school uniform colours.
Green suits me I've been told but I just don't like it. Smile

Vitriolinsanity · 14/04/2023 18:27

I can pull off cobalt, but I have colouring like Sophie so really all shades of blue work. Think the issue with Katherine's coat was the cut and length. Cobalt works better as a shorter dress like Sophie's or with the line broken like Madame Macron.

Charlene's wearing her PJs and Sophie's decided to don her dressing gown! Leti's dress is a bit 80s but only a bit. It's much better than the yellow ruffled monstrosity Kate wore in the Caribbean last year!

Maireas · 14/04/2023 21:15

I like Leti's floral dress, it's very summery and the sleeves aren't too poofy. Sophie's jacket is a really great colour but not a great shape for her without the intervention of Auntie Doreen. Charlene, just no. On the plus side, she's looking better in herself.

Yes, Leti's dress is how to do the 80s revival well!

gluenotsoup · 14/04/2023 21:31

I like the colour of Sophie’s jacket.

doglover90 · 14/04/2023 22:20

Both Kate and Sophie look fabulous in soft and dark shades of blue. Definitely not a fan of the cobalt and would love to see more colours like the below:

I love that outfit on Catherine. I wish she’d wear her clothes a bit shorter than she does currently. If I had legs like hers I’d have them out for every occasion!

KillingMeDeftly · 14/04/2023 22:35

I don't think ice blue suits Kate but the navy is good on her. I think navy overpowers Sophie but the mid-blue is perfect on her.

ChicoryDip · 14/04/2023 22:49

A bit late to the discussion but I'm not a fan of the cobalt blue on Kate. That said, it works better for her as evening wear - the dress that she wore for the India tour was stunning.

I like that color of blue. Isn't it the shade of the dress that Beatrice wore to Eugenie's wedding? And if memory serves, most of us liked it.

KillingMeDeftly · 14/04/2023 23:18

At the time I liked the blue dress in India but I don't think it stood up well to a rewear because without the shawl it looks a bit mother of the bride. The other blue dress is lovely and sleek so I don't know why she's never repeated it!

Fourecks · 15/04/2023 00:10

I love that red outfit of Max's, it's just gorgeous. (I don't think I've posted before but I'm a longtime lurker who loves this thread!)

I think if they had their colours done they’d both be summers (I’d guess a light summer for Sophie and true summer for Kate) so there’s bound to be overlap of what colours suit them.

Maireas · 15/04/2023 06:21

You're right, @ChicoryDip - that centre picture of Kate is lovely, the dress is stunning and I think her hair is the right length and colour.

Yes and we did love it. It really worked with Bea’s beautiful colouring.

Bea reflection - the clothes don’t seem to be wearing her these days. Whether it is the confidence that came with marrying a bonafide catch, or the confidence that came with motherhood she looks so much more comfortable in her clothes these days.

KillingMeDeftly · 15/04/2023 08:51

Agree re Beatrice really having found her own style these days.

I would day Sophie is a summer but Kate is an autumn as rich warm shades look so good on her. IIRC summers and winters look best in cool tones and autumns and springs in warm. Meghan is probably a winter and someone like Madeleine of Sweden a spring.

I think we’ll have to disagree on this one. I think she’s a true summer which means she can also borrow from the true winter colour family, which is why she also looks great in jewel tones. I don’t think she suits the warm browns and greens as well. I think it can be difficult as she often has warmer tones put in her hair and wears fake tan.

Chewbecca · 15/04/2023 09:16

I'm a (dark) summer and Kate is often used as an example of well known summers. Her colouring is similar to mine - mid brown hair, skin that leans to pink and hazel-ish eyes. Sadly our similarities end there.

I imagine you as similar to Katie Holmes- another summer!

notsuchafrugalkitty · 15/04/2023 09:31

I'm a summer too. Depending on where you fall there can be some potential for drifting into other seasons, some of our stronger colours are similar to the winter jewel colours (but softer) and brown summers look good in the warmer end of rose browns etc which lean into autumn. Hyacinth is also found in the spring palette. I'm dedicated House of Colour though, some systems are a bit all over the place for me.
