Well, we're in the run up to C day, now. Thanks to @chesterelly for the thread title suggestion 😊

I didn't realise they still sold the Doreen @Gooseysgirl! It's up there with girdles as something I associate with my gran's generation 🤣 Though I guess you could argue that Spanx and Skins are the girdles of the 21st century!

Looks like camel coat is reversible

Going back Mme B hair, my mums is the same. She only washes it once a week because it's that wavy & dry.
Ive inherited lots of my mums genes, unfortunately I do not possess such hair 😂

Pretty girls

Wow those outfits are so 00s. And Madeleine loved her spray tan back then!

KillingMeDeftly · 13/04/2023 16:51

The French state visit continues and both ladies look good. Brigitte's suit is the same colour as Kate's Easter coatdress but wearing a white shirt under it softens the harshness of that shade of blue.

Yes, I think the white shirt looks good with the trouser suit. Also, good cut to the legs. Max lovely in red again. I wish I could find red clothes.

Sophie looks good again today despite the round neck. The colour suits her.

That colour appears to be popular with folks at the moment! She does look nice, I like the fact that she's wearing her hair loose and with the soft wave.

Although looking at those heels, and the similar ones Kate, Meghan, Beatrice, Eugenie etc often wear, I do wonder if very expensive shoes as theirs undoubtedly are, are more comfortable than the heels mere mortals wear (well, I don't bother with heels anymore). Otherwise how the heck do they walk in them?

Meanwhile the Duke of Edinburgh was in Cambridge today, doing various engagements, some to do with the D of E award, which is such a brilliant thing. I like the fact that he's not wearing a tie, and the jacket is single breasted. However, a tailor needs to take it in following the weight loss. I'm really not going to comment on the trousers and why they've been given that crease... suffice to say he has his Mum's nice smile.

His Royal Highness Prince Edward visited chocolate company Harry Specters in Ely and the Cambridgeshire DofE Open Award Centre in Bar Hill.

I do like Sophie and Edward, they both look fine. I would gently steer him away from creases in jeans and feed him some stodge.
I love Max’s dress today, very pretty, but as I’ve said loads of times, I’m not for that shade of blue. I went shopping today and there’s lots of it around. I think I could be converted if the shape was soft or a bit more cool, but I find it harsh on a structured shape. I’ve ordered a skirt with some black, white and the blue in to see what I think.

JimBob61 · 13/04/2023 20:37

Right ladies, it's been a long time since I posted on here (so long that I've even forgotten which tiara I bagged) I do however read the thread every day and love the knowledge of the posters, the general niceness of the thread and obviously all the pretty sparkly things and beautiful (mostly, I'm looking at you Sophie) clothes. That hat, those boots. Just no.
But with the coronation looming I thought maybe I should update my collection so I look adequately regal and sparkly on the day.
I'm possibly being a tad greedy and the jewels I would like aren't actually royal. I do hope that's allowed. They belong to a lovely lady called Lily Safra. I've added a post about her along with pictures of the beauties I would like pleeeeeease Maireas.

I especially love the ring with the dangly diamonds and the brooch.

Maireas · 13/04/2023 20:41

Easily done, my friend...
@JimBob61 - Lily Safra's jewels ✔️
You will look good on Coronation Day 😊

Gosh! Edward looks like his father in those photos! I've never noticed a likeness before.

AdaColeman · 13/04/2023 21:42

That harsh shade of blue really doesn't to anything for anyone, I'm not even sure that Brigitte's white shirt softens it very much, though a splash of white near the face is always "a good thing"!

Sophie doesn't look too bad there, it's a nice Head Girl's frock, but is it a Duchess's frock? Dreadful shoes!
Edward seems to be blossoming just now. He is looking like his father more, as he gets older. His grin there is pure Prince Philip!

Gothambutnotahamster · 13/04/2023 22:08

What's with all the blue? Is it the official colour of the coronation year or just the latest fashionable colour?

LadyEloise1 · 14/04/2023 09:56

I love that lapis lazuli blue colour.

Sadly it doesn't suit my colouring.

Could it also be termed Windsor blue and with the Coronation coming up it is more relevant ?

latedecember1963 · 14/04/2023 11:31

According to one of the stylists on QVC yesterday cobalt blue is the 'in' colour this Spring. I like it as a colour but agree that it can look harsh / draining without something to soften it against the face.
I've enjoyed seeing the photos of Max and Brigette. Their styles are different and it's interesting to see what they choose to wear at the same event. No one ever looks fed up next to Max: she seems to have that lovely skill of enjoying what she does and being around people.

justasking111 · 14/04/2023 12:27

Cobalt blue to enhance an outfit fine say trimmings, accessories. BUT as a block colour no thanks.

MotherofPearl · 14/04/2023 12:40

For the record I really dislike cobalt blue. I far prefer classic navy blue. That cobalt shade always looks harsh and has a MoB vibe to me.

viewsoftheshard · 14/04/2023 13:06

I really don’t like the colbalt blue, it is too harsh for most people. Then again I really didn’t like the green shade of the gown Catherine worn for the earth shot prize. Yet I bought a very similar colour skirt from COS yesterday…it felt familiar then worked out where I’d seen it before. So I’m sure in 6 months time I’ll be rocking that colbalt blue….

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 14/04/2023 13:56

I don't like blue...or green...or yellow.
Dress me in red and I look like an explosion in a ketchup factory. 🤦‍♀️
I can't wear white or pale shades - they get dirty before I leave the house like there's a magnetic field around them.

I don't think being a Princess or Duchess would help. Grin

SqueakyDinosaur · 14/04/2023 13:58

What colours do you like, @pussycatinfluffyslippers ?

(I'm currently wearing navy trousers, pale green wrap top and sludgy pink cardigan)
