Well, we're in the run up to C day, now. Thanks to @chesterelly for the thread title suggestion 😊

I will also miss the fashion as she always looks amazing! I really do hope they all bring out their best frocks & bling!

I think we're all with you there!

Actually, @eggandonion , it's a State Occasion, not a family one, but I know what you mean.

Mme M’s hair is lovely, always chic looking. It’s interesting about how genetics affects all aspects of how you age, including how hair ages. My went progressively wavier with each pregnancy, and has gone more coarse. I don’t know how much grey I have as it’s dyed but the ones I see are white like my dads was, whereas my mums is so soft and fine she just can’t do anything with it. I’ll have to wait and see. I’ve ditched bottle shampoo and started using the bar type and it’s actually much better.

eggandonion · 12/04/2023 20:30

@Maireas I know its all out state but it is family too. George has a role and Camillas gang. Has Charles ever discussed what he remembers from his mum's coronation? At 4 it would be an early memory for Archie.
More exciting if it was all satin and velvet and bling though.

Maireas · 12/04/2023 20:31

I don't know, @eggandonion .

Just trying to catch up after a few days of being internet-free. I love all the beautiful brooches posted - really inspires me to add to my own small collection. Berganza has some gorgeous brooches, though unfortunately they're mostly very much out of my price range.

Great to see the photos of Sarah Chatto earlier in the thread. As I've said before, she's probably my royal style favourite. I love a full skirt and cashmere cardi.

I find myself underwhelmed by the Easter service outfits, and feel that Sophie strayed very far from the herd with that hat/boots combo.

Sophie looked like she'd borrowed the hat from Pharrell.

I’m sorry to see M won’t be at the Coronation, she usually has perfect shoes 👠

I shall say nothing on the wrongs or rights of that decision but from a purely fashion point of view I am disappointed! I like Meghan's style and thought her caped dress with elbow length gloves at HMQ's funeral was extremely elegant.

Totally agree with this, whatever our other thoughts on Meghan, she’s a fabulous dresser for events like this.

Papergirl1968 · 12/04/2023 22:03

Sophie in a much better outfit than she wore at Easter and Max and Brigitte in red and mustard.

Papergirl1968 · 12/04/2023 22:06

Sorry, forgot the pics

The pale pink of Sophie’s blouse is lovely, very soft and feminine, she looks good there. I’m not keen Max’s outfit today, but love what Brigitte is wearing. She carries it very well, effortlessly stylish. Love the yellow jacket 😍

MotherofPearl · 12/04/2023 22:23

@KillingMeDeftly Grin Poor Sophie!

I like those straight trousers of Mme Macron's. Are those wedges or block heels she's wearing? I can't quite make them out. Max's coat looks interesting.

MotherofPearl · 12/04/2023 22:25

What works so well there for Sophie is that she has the buttons of the blouse unbuttoned quite low creating a flattering v neck that looks miles better with a larger bosom. I wish she'd do this more often.

gluenotsoup · 12/04/2023 22:27

I thought that too @MotherofPearl, plus the sheer fabric doesn’t add any extra bulk

KillingMeDeftly · 12/04/2023 22:31

That neckline is much better but she still needs a bra intervention!

RockaLock · 12/04/2023 22:46

Charlene (and Albert) have been out and about in Florence.

Sophie looks lovely in pink. I don't love the outfit, but agree about the unbuttoned shirt being more flattering to her.
Love that yellow Mme Macron is wearing and a perfect colour foil to the black trousers. They would have maybe worked better with wider leg trousers.

Eaumyword · 12/04/2023 22:59

Love Char's black sequin dress - that's a wow look!

KillingMeDeftly · 12/04/2023 23:04

For a moment there I thought La Macron was wearing stirrup pants!

SqueakyDinosaur · 12/04/2023 23:08

Charlene's black sequin dress is IMO a sign that she is recovering from whatever it was - it wouldn't look good on her as gaunt as she was a while back, and you need to have a properly athletic body to carry off such fitted sequins. I do hope she has managed to carve out a life for herself that is not just manageable but enjoyable, though I really can't imagine much of that would include Prince A.

gluenotsoup · 13/04/2023 08:47

The sequin dress is great for Charlene. She just looks healthy, strong, and comfortable. Great to see.

Gothambutnotahamster · 13/04/2023 10:35

Loving the photos - Mme Macron looks amazing & Max always looks brill! I love all her colours. Charlene looks good but still looks totally haunted and trapped to me, so I do hope she's ok and agree with PP that I hope she's able to carve out some enjoyment in her life rather than simply managing to survive!

According to my mother the Triumph Doreen will solve this issue 🤣

AdaColeman · 13/04/2023 12:06

Brigitte does look well put together in her mustard and black wet weather gear! I have coat envy for Max's camel coat, I love a camel coat.

Charlene is très chic in her black sequinned dress. She likes that combination of sheer and sequins as she's worn many versions of it, and always looks fantastic.

It's nice to see her linking along with Albert, and looking better. I've got a soft spot for Albert. I'm looking forward to seeing what she will wear at the Coronation, as they are amongst the European royals attending.

I think your Mother is probably right @Gooseysgirl, Mothers usually are!
