Well, we're in the run up to C day, now. Thanks to @chesterelly for the thread title suggestion 😊

Sarah, Anne, Bea - all look great today. Sophie - not keen on her outfit today, or Zara’s. I didn’t like that outfit on Kate last time. It’s the wrong shape for her and I just don’t like Hilary Clinton Blue.

Beatrice is wearing Sophie’s dress! Do you think they each have one or do they borrow from each other?

I thought it looked oddly familiar!

Maireas · 09/04/2023 20:50

mullet of outfits! Very true, @KillingMeDeftly . I also agree with you about Kate's outfit, and I do wish she'd try out new styles a bit more. Nice to see the different manicure, though!
Princess Anne looked good, I loved her hat and the coat with big buttons. I'm afraid Sophie's was a miss for me, although I liked the colour. I agree with pp about Sarah Chatto - she's found a signature style and it looks great.

@ChicoryDip - what a lovely picture of the late Queen. Thank you, absolutely gorgeous 😊

The queen looked great in that shade of pink. I feel like she was very glamorous in her youth but lost her way a bit style-wise when she reached her 50s and spent most of the 1980s and 90s looking a bit frumpy. But she really hit her stride again in the 2000s with the colour-blocked brights that became her go-to look.

The Princess of Wales had on red nail polish today! Did you notice?

Yes the Jezebel. The church as well. Good job the Queen is gone etc etc etc

paradyning · 09/04/2023 21:18

*at church as well. When will we get an edit button.

Love that magenta colour on the Queen.

@Maireas please could I have those pearl earrings with the tiny diamond on top of the Queens's? If noone has them on your xls of splendour?

maisiedaisy64 · 09/04/2023 21:19

Loved Beatrice, think she was best dressed by a country mile. Not a fan of Kate’s, my gran had a MOB style outfit for one of my cousin’s weddings in that shade, it just reminded me of that!

Has the dress code for the coronation officially been announced? I know there’s been speculation about no tiaras, I’m just clinging onto hope that it’s still just that!

KillingMeDeftly · 09/04/2023 21:51

I think I actually liked Mia Tindall's dress best!

Serenster · 09/04/2023 21:59

Here's a nice photo of Sarah Chatto today. She's sticking to her tried-and-tested cardigan-and-skirt combo - and why not, she always looks great!

She was wearing an identical outfit a few days earlier when she presented the leading ballerina of the Royal Ballet with a medal to mark 25 years with the company. If you’re going to pick a uniform, this is a super-elegant one.

I love Sarah's outfit, as always. Despite it being such a signature style she varies the colour and the cut of the skirt enough to keep it interesting. Also, the fabric always look such good quality they always hang beautifully.

I don't think they're claimed - but I'll check!

Sadly, @maisiedaisy64 , we think it's day dress rather than Court dress, which makes us concerned about...coatdresses 👎

Lots to see today!
I normally love what Kate wears, but I don't like today's ensemble.
Don't like Zara's outfit either, or Sophie's.
Bea looks nice from the front, but not keen on the back and don't like the headwear.
I like Eug's dress but not coat and headwear.
I normally love the traditional outfits the children wear, but Louis would have looked gorgeous in a trouser suit. His jacket is cute but paired with the shorts and socks just looks mismatched.

paradyning · 09/04/2023 23:12

Sophie took the 90s trend too far today I think.

mathanxiety · 10/04/2023 00:17

Agree with the comment on 'Hilary Clinton blue'. It's such a harsh colour.

N0tfinished · 10/04/2023 00:22

I loved seeing Kate carrying Charlottes coat out of the church. Typical kid behavior. 'But I'm too hot!! I'm boiling!! Mia's not wearing a coat!!!' Etc etc

CarolinaInTheMorning · 10/04/2023 02:05

I think the coronation dress code makes sense because they are inviting people from many different walks of life. But I will miss the bling.
There should still be plenty of fashion to discuss, though.

You're right, @CarolinaInTheMorning - it does make the event more inclusive.

OP posts:
KillingMeDeftly · 10/04/2023 08:49

Perhaps there will be some sort of evening coronation party where the bling will be aired?

Maireas · 10/04/2023 08:50

@paradyning - QE2 pearl earrings are yours! ✔️ Sorry, I do know that it makes the late Queen sound like a ship.

Brilliant idea and I have everything crossed for that, @KillingMeDeftly

Though it does occur to me that if they have a party like that then it might be under wraps with no photographs taken!
