What would you think if someone wore a bikini with this scarring?

Approximately 4 months out and it's still red it will be another 4 months before I go on holiday . I'm wondering whether to wear a bikini even if it's not fully white or will people ask me questions etc?

OP posts:

Hate to say it @Beldam, folks do ask. Or even worse touch. I've had it at work, on nights out, on the train - I sometimes wonder if it's a 'engage mouth before brain situation'

Spkat · 29/03/2023 19:14

If that's a tummy tuck then the only thing they'll ask is for your surgeon's number! by the way, what's your surgeon's number?Grin

ArianahX · 29/03/2023 19:38

My Mum is (hopefully soon) getting a scar like that from her diaphragm to her pubic bone as she needs open abdominal surgery to remove a large cancerous mass plus spread; she's like a heavily pregnant woman.
She was due the open surgery last but it didn't happen.

That's what I thought about when I saw the scar.

ilovewispas · 29/03/2023 19:55

I wouldn't think anything other than perhaps good for you obviously having been through something and now being well enough to be enjoying yourself.

I say that as someone who also has scarring. Flowers

CummaCummaChameleon · 29/03/2023 19:57

I'd think - damn girl you've had a tummy tuck and you should damn we'll go out and enjoy yourself now!

I'd know straight off the bat it was a fleur de lis tummy tuck scar. I've wanted a TT for so long due to my own significant weight loss which has left me with a load of saggy skin. As a result I've not worn a swimsuit / bikini in 10+ years. I've never been swimming with my children. I've got a great size 6-8 figure, but the skin is holding me back in life.

Seriously OP - go out and enjoy yourself whether it's in a bikini with loads of sunscreen or a one piece. You've earned it! Don't let the scar hold you back and hide away like you may have before the surgery.

Echobelly · 29/03/2023 20:10

I wouldn't think anything at all, except possibly feel glad you seem to feel happy doing so, because people should be comfortable and not worry what people think. Anyone who would be bothered about it is not a person whose opinion you should care about.

Everyone can see two long, deep operation scars on one of my hips when I'm in swimwear and it's never bothered me.

BatFaceOwl · 29/03/2023 20:11

Well I'd know you'd had a FDL tummy tuck and that would be about all I thought

ClassicLib · 29/03/2023 20:12

I probably wouldn’t think anything, because I’m not interested and it’s none of my business, but if I did think anything it would be ‘good for her’.

thinkfast · 29/03/2023 20:14

I don't think regents scars should be exposed to sun OP. They burn very easily and I believe it can trigger skin disorders.

If it was an old scar I'd say don't give it a second thought, but for the reasons above I'd go for a one piece this year.

Choconut · 29/03/2023 20:19

It reminds me of a linea nigra so if I saw it I'd probably think it was a pregnancy thing. I definitely wouldn't think it was a tummy tuck.

BrutusMcDogface · 29/03/2023 20:24

You have a fantastic shape. I would look at the scar and wonder how you got it, assuming some kind of life saving surgery 🤷🏻‍♀️

I hope your mum isn’t waiting too much longer 💐

MissingMoominMamma · 29/03/2023 20:26

If I saw you, I’d think you were confident in your great body (with good reason) and I’d admire you!

I have a large scar on each hip, from surgery, and I’m proud that because of them I can climb mountains again. I see them as a badge of honour 💪.

S0upertrooper · 29/03/2023 20:26

I have the same scar but down my spine, so I'd be mentally doffing my cap sister! I also have an old burn scar on my leg that doesn't like the sun, so mentally I'd also be hoping you'd put sunscreen on to protect it. Treat it kindly and enjoy your holiday.

eatdrinkandbemerry · 29/03/2023 20:30

I'd notice it but just think warrior x
Wear what makes you happy

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 29/03/2023 20:33

I once saw a man with a tattoo on his belly of a cat, and his bellybutton was the cat's bumhole. That's the kind of stuff that causes me to do a double take.

You look great.

HappyAxolotl · 29/03/2023 20:37

I'd think "she must have had some serious surgery there" and go on with my day.

naleto · 29/03/2023 21:52

I'd rather have your body with a scar than my body without a scar. I'd honestly think my only thought would be, 'I wonder what surgery she had and I wish I had her figure' then I'd never think about it again.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 29/03/2023 21:54

I'd think you were really brave and inspiring

LuluBlakey1 · 29/03/2023 21:55

I'd wish I had your figure- that's all.

Eatentoomanyroses · 29/03/2023 21:57

I’d just think you’d had a fdl and not think much else. Wear a bikini if you want to

Polly291869 · 29/03/2023 22:00

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 29/03/2023 12:21

I might register that there's a scar but I'd think nothing of it. In your case though, OP, I'd think that it was extremely neatly done and that your surgeon was excellent.

Wear your bikini with pride. Thanks

Absolutely this.

BTW, you have a great figure, OP!

OnTheBoardwalk · 29/03/2023 22:05

Fantastic weight loss and you should absolutely own your scar

think you are right though covering up this year just to avoid sun damage

FlutterbButterfly · 29/03/2023 22:08

I'd like to say nothing, but yes I'd notice. Honestly? You look great and the scar just shows a story- not that I know it but of a fighter and survivor. Go girl you look great 👍🏻

pizzaHeart · 29/03/2023 22:15

MyriadOfTravels · 29/03/2023 15:05

Nothing.
The most that would come to my mind is serious illness and how great it is that you can go to the beach and enjoy life.

I would be the same.
