What would you think if someone wore a bikini with this scarring?

Approximately 4 months out and it's still red it will be another 4 months before I go on holiday . I'm wondering whether to wear a bikini even if it's not fully white or will people ask me questions etc?

I have an almost identical scar! But 7 yrs old and very faded/silver now apart from some keloid scarring at the top. I wouldn’t have worn a bikini early in because I would have been sensitive about curiosity and it is an unusual thing to see. I couldn't blame a child or childish adult for asking questions. However now I’m more comfortable talking about it I would. So it’s not the scar fading as much as my social discomfort if that makes sense. If you’re ready to acknowledge it then it doesn’t matter who sees it!

That's good I'm very pale and my previous ones are nearly invisible because it nearly matches my skin tone 🤣🤣🤣. I think I will definitely cover this year then put a load of factor 50 next year so no tanning. I use silicone scar gel but sometimes I forget, I think time is the biggest factor for me .

It's a big scare so I would say people will notice, that's only human. Most of us though would think woah, she's clearly been through something big. We'd more than likely hope that whatever that thing is, is resolved and you're now doing well. We'd think good for you, hope you're in a good/healthy place.
I would also notice your lovely figure and be overcome with jealousy/resolve to get myself down the gym when I know full well the only place I'm getting myself is the chip shop.

SplendidUtterly · 29/03/2023 14:26

I'd just think that you'd had surgery done then get on with my day. Wear what you want🙂

Justalittlebitduckling · 29/03/2023 14:27

If I noticed, I would think good for them.

coffeemoon · 29/03/2023 14:28

I wouldn't think anything.

I mean, I'd see it I guess, if I was looking in your direction, but I wouldn't be thinking about how it happened/ wondering what caused it/ judging you in any way.

I wouldn't look at you for any longer than I would look at anyone else.

GreyGoose1980 · 29/03/2023 14:30

You have a great figure OP. I wouldn’t think anything of it if I saw you on a bikini.

Not that I think the colour of your scar matters in terms of whether you wear a bikini but just fyi my c section scar is still red a year later so I think it takes a long time for them to go white - albeit everyone is different.

mybeautifuloak · 29/03/2023 14:22

But that's not a tummy tuck scar

It most certainly is it's the most invasive one when you have skin above the belly button, I had huge amount of skin that was causing rashes. This is my belly before, they removed 3kg of skin!!

What would you think if someone wore a bikini with this scarring?

Wear your bikini with pride , you have a lovely figure and don’t worry about the scar ,

ScoopT · 29/03/2023 14:33

As someone who has heavy scarring, people (inc complete strangers) are more than happy to ask you questions as to 'what happened' when they are on show. I'm always astounded actually as to the front of folks asking personal questions about my body but here we are.

It depends how happy and comfortable you are answering them, I cover up a lot of the time as I can't be arsed with it and depending on the mood I either respond truthfully as to how they got here, or I make up an outlandish reason for effect (saving 7 orphans from a burning house, fought off 3 sharks armed with nothing than a teaspoon etc)

ScoopT · 29/03/2023 14:35

@Hop27 can you share the link with me please?

IAteAllTheTomatoes · 29/03/2023 14:36

I secretly try to resist the urge to ask you about diet & exercise so I could be as hourglassy as you!

The scar is an after thought but I'd assume you went thru something challenging & came out the other side of it. Strenght, survival, kicks ass are the wodds that come to mind.

Don't hide it with a swimsuit, a figure like that needs a bikini!

cocksstrideintheevening · 29/03/2023 14:39

If I noticed I would think that must have been a big surgery, nothing more.

Wear the bikini but be more than over zealous with the spf.

Wagsandclaws · 29/03/2023 14:39

That's a fleur de Lys scar where they take the skin above the belly button and also along the pubic bone. I investigated this option after I lost 6 stone and was left with a lot of loose skin. Sadly I've put two back in which I appear to not be able to lose again so this won't be happening for me.

I'd need one of those as I have very bad apron belly from being overweight and 5 dcs. Yours looks super neat and that scar will fade,

Your figure looks fab it really does and you should be proud to wear a bikini.

As other pp have said chuck on the factor 50 alllllll the time!

Gymmum82 · 29/03/2023 14:39

I’d assume you’d had weight loss surgery and then I wouldn’t think anything of it again.
wear whatever you feel comfortable in. But if I’d lost that much weight and had surgery to lose the excess skin you bet I’d be in a bikini. You’ve worked hard for that

11GrumpsaGrumping · 29/03/2023 14:41

@Fifi1010

I have a tummy tuck and breast reduction, though my scar runs horizontal rather than vertical. I have never had anyone ask me about them, and tbh, would just be honest if they did. I don't really care!

BUT, I'd say be super super careful in the sun! This summer (I live in Portugal and did a lot of topless sunbathing) I burned my scars and one of them is still a bit sore and red, particularly if re-exposed to the sun. I'd go like factor 70. Also I found bio-oil best for reducing appearance...

God speed! You look great btw!

BanditsGravyStain · 29/03/2023 14:45

Firstly, well done on the weight loss. You look incredible scar included! I’d probably be staring at 1) your figure, you look incredible and then 2) my awful brain would be wondering what happened and imagining you laid on a table with aliens poking around or something but I’m a freak so pay no attention to that.

As a fat lass I’m willing to bet you’d experience more negativity just being plus size day to do than anything concerning your scar. Other people are awful to overweight people.

WeddingDays · 29/03/2023 14:50

Bloody well done, girl! Your waist is envy worthy. What a beautiful torso! Yes sensible to cover it up because it's a fresh scar still. There are gorgeous and sexy swimsuits some show the sides of the waist but cover the middle which I always found very sexy and sensual. You look fantastic!

WhoDatWhoDere · 29/03/2023 14:56

I've lost 6 stone and badly need this doing, but can't.

You look AMAZING.

Salonselectives · 29/03/2023 14:59

@Fifi1010 You look amazing. Are you comfortable sharing your weight loss story?

thethinendofthewedge · 29/03/2023 15:04

There's some great swimsuits around with cut away sections if you want more flesh on show but don't want to expose the scar to sun. A halter neck will allow for a nicely tanned back!

Rinkydinkydoodle · 29/03/2023 15:04

I’d think I wish I had your waist.

MyriadOfTravels · 29/03/2023 15:05

Nothing.
The most that would come to my mind is serious illness and how great it is that you can go to the beach and enjoy life.

Glitteratitar · 29/03/2023 15:06

Wouldn’t think anything.

I have plenty of scars on my belly and I still wear a bikini. Being honest, people always glance or look at my belly but I ignore it. If it is something that makes you sensitive, that’s something to think about.

WhoDatWhoDere · 29/03/2023 15:10

mybeautifuloak · 29/03/2023 14:22

But that's not a tummy tuck scar

But it is... and I could clearly tell it was. I've been researching TTs for months. 🙄

Dagnabit · 29/03/2023 15:13

I’d think, bloody hell, wish I was slim like that!
