Approximately 4 months out and it's still red it will be another 4 months before I go on holiday . I'm wondering whether to wear a bikini even if it's not fully white or will people ask me questions etc?

OP posts:

My friend had similar scar from a tummy tuck She had it tattooed over it was lots flowers on stem looked gorgeous when it was finnished

Baggingarea · 29/03/2023 15:15

I would say cover up purely because it's not worth the potential sun damage. You'll need to wear SPF 50 (ideally more) to stay safe. But there is nothing wrong with baring scars from an aesthetic point of view!

Opaljewel · 29/03/2023 15:16

I would not think anything. Beautiful body and I'm sure you're a beautiful person. Ne loud and proud of yourself.

Cross posting with @mumwheresmyribena
I'd think "Good her her, she's a survivor"
Closely followed by "I wish my waist was that slim" . . . .

Exactly this

evtheria · 29/03/2023 15:17

I would notice, probably seeing it out of corner of my eye and thinking it was a part of the bikini design, but not think anything of it when I realized it was a scar.

Justforlaffs · 29/03/2023 15:19

I probably wouldn't even notice and if I did I'd think "oh, she's had skin removal surgery" and then forget about it!

You can buy special waterproof makeup to cover scars, if you felt self conscious.

RobertJohnsonsShoes · 29/03/2023 15:23

I would probably notice but nothing more than a glance. I'd be too busy wondering when DH was getting the ice creams in or how I need to lie to ensure maximum full body tan.

I wouldn't worry, we've all got stuff on our bodies. No one cares what you're doing (in the nicest possible way!)

RosaBonheur · 29/03/2023 15:25

I would wear a one piece this year purely to limit sun exposure on such a new scar. But that's just me personally.

I wouldn't think anything of it if I saw somebody wearing a bikini with a scar like that.

Using silicone sheets on the scar might help make it flatter and paler over time.

IScreamAtMichaelangelos · 29/03/2023 15:25

I would think that was an interesting scar and wonder what sort of surgery you'd had. I would then go back to sleeping. I'd probably also think well done you for not being bothered about the court of public opinion!

5128gap · 29/03/2023 15:26

I'd be thinking wow, a perfect hourglass. You don't see many of those! The scar? Well that just tells me you've had surgery. It isn't ugly or unpleasant it's just something some of us have.

Londontoderby · 29/03/2023 15:29

I’d think that’s a pretty cool scar and wonder what surgery was needed for something like that but I wouldn’t think anything negative or towards your body.

jays · 29/03/2023 15:29

Genuinely? That you have a tiny waist! I’m not joking, I’ve seen loads of folk in swimwear over the years with various scars and i honesty wouldn’t think anything of it, I’d notice how nice your waistline is, you have a fab figure OP get that bikini on have an amazing holiday.

Goodfuckingriddance · 29/03/2023 15:32

Baldieheid · 29/03/2023 12:18

I'd think nothing. Genuinely. I'd observe that you'd had surgery, puck my book up and have another sip of my cocktail.

Exactly this.

SirChenjins · 29/03/2023 15:34

I’d think ‘she has a scar, wonder what for’ followed by ‘I wish I had her figure, I hate my stomach, that’s it - I’m definitely going on a diet’

mintich · 29/03/2023 15:36

I'd probably look, think "she's got a scar" but in the same way I'd think to myself, oh she's got long hair, a nice bikini etc. I wouldn't think anything negative. So wear what you like as long as the scar will be OK in the sun

Guesswhooo · 29/03/2023 15:37

If you spent loads to increase your confidence then absolutely wear a bikini (and spf!) and show off !

Acrylicpainter · 29/03/2023 15:39

Wear whatever you like, remember, you have no idea what people are thinking and their thoughts have absolutely no ability to affect you because you don't know what they are.

Keeween · 29/03/2023 15:39

I know you’ve already said you won’t wear a bikini due to potential UV damage but if you did, honestly my first thought would be ‘badass scar, that’s a whopper’ then ‘cracking figure’ then nothing. Absolutely nothing negative, that’s for sure.

Mischance · 29/03/2023 15:41

Yes - wear what you want and be proud of your body - we are all a bit battle-scarred and it is nothing to be ashamed of. But if you are going to be in strong sun it might be good to cover it up so that the new skin does not burn.

Have a good holiday!

PippaF2 · 29/03/2023 15:50

If I was on the beach and saw you wearing a bikini, I'd note you have a way better body than me and you must have had some very serious surgery.

I wouldn't judge you for wearing the bikini in anyway I'd just think - jeez what's that lady been through.

I'm just being completely honest but it wouldn't occur to me that someone shouldnt wear a bikini because they have a scar.

missingthewinchesterboys · 29/03/2023 16:08

"I hope they've got good sunscreen on that scar"
"Shall I offer them some of the zinc stick we use on DD's scar"

CamoFlamingo · 29/03/2023 16:22

I would just assume you had surgery, that is if I even noticed. I don't think scars necessarily look bad, I'm covered in them. You have a great figure btw!

Exhausteddog · 29/03/2023 16:23

Beldam · 29/03/2023 12:21

I wouldn’t ever ask a stranger a question about it in real life and I don’t suppose many others would either.

privately I’d think wow that’s a big scar and I wonder what happened. But I’d also be thinking how great you look and how body positive you are

I'd be the same. I'd be curious for a few seconds but I'd never ask

Newestname002 · 29/03/2023 16:29

I would register that you have a scar and wonder what the operation was. However, I'd also be envious that you have a waist that goes in at the sides - mine certainly doesn't! 🌹

Thekormachameleon · 29/03/2023 16:42

You have an incredible figure and that's what I'd notice most

If I noticed your scar, I'd think you were fabulous for not giving a shit what random people think and living your best life and I'd secretly want to tell you that
