What would you think if someone wore a bikini with this scarring?

Approximately 4 months out and it's still red it will be another 4 months before I go on holiday . I'm wondering whether to wear a bikini even if it's not fully white or will people ask me questions etc?

No I wouldn’t even consider wearing a bikini anywhere hot. Indoor swimming pool in the UK though then sure why not. If you want it to fade it shouldn’t see the sun so soon. I have one on my back that I ignored this advice with and the difference between that and my c section scar that never gets daylight is pretty stark.

Catspyjamas17 · 29/03/2023 13:00

What a lovely slim waist! Just apply cocoa butter between now and then and sun block while you are there.

Goodread1 · 29/03/2023 13:00

Hi Op
Wear whatever you feel comfortable relaxed in
I think you have good figure,

I wish I had a figure as good as yours,

People may be a bit curious, about your scar,

But most people are so deep in their thoughts about whatever stuff that's going on in their lives,

They will barely give your scar a glance,

Just thinking maybe some people may think like myself, did,

I wish I had a figure as good as yours, or rember what seems like a long time ago ,they had a figure that was as good,

What I am saying this life , is far too short too worry what other people think,

It's how you feel, that counts and if you are feeling low, Lack cofindence,? understandable after having a major cofindence,
Look at ways to improve your lack of cofindence,
We all have had issues sometime or other ,

Try not to care what other people think,
I know it's easier said than done,

If anybody did comment in a negative judgemental way at all,

It's on them,

They are just revealing themself to be an Arsehole,
Which unfortunately walk amongst us, !

My mother who adopted me, had a quite large scar from being accidentally burnt as a small child grabbing a kettle,

Bearpawk · 29/03/2023 13:01

I'd barely notice it; I'd be looking at your lovely waistline through!
I have surgery scars - The blue will fade in time and if you're somewhere warm won't be as blue anyway! Just use a good spf on it so it doesn't end up going pink x

neilyoungismyhero · 29/03/2023 13:01

Well I'd obviously check that it was medically sensible and if it was go for it, who cares?

Goodread1 · 29/03/2023 13:02

Oops typo mistake,
I ment to say after having a major op @Fifi1010

321user123 · 29/03/2023 13:02

Honestly?
I’d think nothing if I were to see you in a bikini.

Whatever it is… wear it PROUDLY!
and I hope you’re well now ☺️

NatMoz · 29/03/2023 13:02

I wouldn't care and would wish i had your figure

Giggorata · 29/03/2023 13:05

I would think, oh she's had surgery recently. Great figure.

WooWooWinnie · 29/03/2023 13:05

I would think “oooh that’s an interesting scar” but I wouldn’t ask about it, or judge you for wearing a bikini because of it. I wear a bikini and I have a reasonably sized, old scar on my stomach and now a scar all down my hip/thigh from a recent hip replacement. I don’t mind if people look - my scars tell part of my story. They’re part of who I am.

feelinglikeanewparent · 29/03/2023 13:05

I'd think 'hell yeh keep rocking that bikini' and feel hugely proud of you for not hiding your scar away

Riverlee · 29/03/2023 13:05

I would admire you for wearing the bikini (and be envious of your figure!).

if I fell into conversation with you, for example in the ice cream queue, I may ask, but I wouldn’t go up deliberately and ask.

Fluffodils · 29/03/2023 13:07

If I'm honest I would notice and think surgery and then think nothing more of it other than maybe hoping one day I'd feel confident enough to wear a bikini too

ilovemyslippers · 29/03/2023 13:07

You will look gorgeous, lovely figure for any swimsuit. BUT I once accidentally had sunburn on a small scar. It was covered by black jeans at the time, and burned through the fabric. It blistered really badly, took weeks and weeks to heal, and that once small and discreet scar is now a livid white patch. It doesn't tan, is still (years later) much more sensitive than surrounding skin, and is very obvious. I wouldn't wish that on you, so maybe buy a one piece in SPF fabric for this year?

Riverlee · 29/03/2023 13:07

And cute cat

As someone with a scar that attracts attention please don't do that

Nowhereelsetogo90 · 29/03/2023 13:09

I’d think look at that waist and fume with jealousy behind my book 😜 that aside, I’d wear a bikini but plenty of sun cream. You get a special one for scars that my Mum has used before for scar on her back.

Fifi1010 · 29/03/2023 13:10

I will cover this year and wear one next year so it's faded and no UV damage.

Rainbowshit · 29/03/2023 13:10

If I noticed I'd probably be full of admiration for you, firstly because of whatever the reason for the scar is you survived it, and secondly for not hiding away.

Onlyhereforthebatshitneighbours · 29/03/2023 13:12

I have a similar scar, plus a few others. Yours is much neater! Surgeon did a beautiful job. Wear the bikini :) and plenty of suncream!

Madamecastafiore · 29/03/2023 13:13

You need to cover that up this close to the surgery and any bit of it in the sun put total sun block on it.

KnittedCardi · 29/03/2023 13:13

I would notice, but only really because it's a great scar! I have really bad, thick chunky, scars on my knee from childhood, and some friends of some years only recently noticed.

Honestly, these days, so many people have body differences, scars, stomas, missing limbs, I don't think many will even notice.

You have a lovely figure, treat yourself to a really expensive, look at me, bikini. You look as though you deserve it.

TenoringBehind · 29/03/2023 13:14

I’d be full of admiration for them for having the confidence to do so. Definitely wouldn’t ask and questions or stare.

I’ve never been brave enough to wear one.

Embelline · 29/03/2023 13:15

I would think fuck yeah, go that person. Genuinely.

CC4712 · 29/03/2023 13:15

Yes, I would notice it and would wonder what had happened, but I would never ask.

You can by silicone gel which you apply very thinly. It can take months, but does reduce the thickness of the scar and flatten it. Obviously follow the post op medical advice though and enjoy your holiday. I agree its a good idea to cover up this year- until its fully healed. 😎
