if it’s good and lasts as long as the perfume I will get a couple of others I think as so handy for bags and taking on holiday

Hi, not had time to post for a while but have been keeping track of empties and am really tempted to subscribe again to liberty beauty drop I cancelled it as didn’t end up getting the advent last year but definitely having second thoughts empties so far

11: ritual of sakura foaming shower gel - loved the scent but really didn’t last long as impossible to control what came out would not repurchase.

12: Floral Street wild vanilla orchid - I got this in the Sephora advent - had my doubts as not a fan of floral scents but loved this and will repurchase

13: Nursem hand cream - from Sephora advent loved it and have repurchased in a larger size to keep near the sink as it comes with a pump dispenser.

14: bubble bath from a Harry Potter gift set was surprisingly lovely

I had no empties in April, and my May empties were:

  1. Rodial Microblade Effect Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Ash Brown (0.5 g; £29) – a retractable, dual-ended brow pencil, which expired in November 2020 🤢 The product description boasted about ‘a unique triangular tip that allows you to add precise, hair-like strokes, or quickly fill in sparse areas with broad strokes for instant brow enhancement’. Well, guess what? The pencil was too creamy to be sharpened, so after the first use that triangle tip turned into a flat rounded one, and it took me a while to learn how to apply it gently, and not to end up with a scouse brow. I also found the shade to be too warm for me but if I remember correctly the colour range didn’t have any cool shades at all. I believe this product was discontinued in 2020 but I would not re-purchase anyway.

2. Medik 8 Eyelift Peptides Age-Defying Firming Gel (15 ml; £26.60) – it expired in January 2021 🤢 It formed a film on my skin, which would pill if I tried to apply foundation on top of it so I used this gel only on the days when I didn’t put makeup on and in the evenings. I didn’t find this gel ‘firming’ at all but it had a decent moisturising effect. Also, make sure you cut the bottle open when the pump stops squeezing the serum out, because you’ll find loads of product still sitting inside.

3-5. Three samples of Elemis Pro-collagen Marine Cream (4 ml x 3; GWP) – I dread to think how ancient these were when I finally got to open them. I guess the fact that they had no fragrance said it all. I took a risk and used them all up, which resulted in a mild fungal acne all over my face and neck (or at least this is what Google thinks it was – I had never had anything like this before so had to search for answers online). I have managed to get it under control with the help of Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic (which also expired by then btw 🙈).

Now the oldest face cream in my stash has the expiry date of May 22nd, 2022. It probably sounds terrible but to use a product, which expired only one year ago, is a MASSIVE achievement for me. I finally see the light at the end of this beauty hoard tunnel.
SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 04/06/2023 21:27

Thanks @UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter I went down a rabbit hole when I started looking for it online. I see that Liberty do the refills for some fragrances, at £30 for two, which makes it much more affordable long term. Would be interested to hear how you got on with it, as its years since I've tried a balm perfume, if you get chance to update!

CinnamonCoffee · 05/06/2023 02:16

No sex dungeon here GrinGrin

FiveShelties · 05/06/2023 04:00

Right, so I have added everything up again and now have 283 items and have used up/thrown away 42 items out of my target of 96. If I carry on using up at this rate, it is going to take around three years!

Not one more item is coming in (she says firmly), until I am well under the 200 mark. I also have to confess to having around 25 things still at my Mum's house.

IndianSummer78 · 05/06/2023 04:16

Well you've made me feel better about my stash at any rate @FiveShelties !

I've been slowly working my way through for 5 years and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now. I put the last conditioner from the drawer onto the side of the bath yesterday, which meant I could put around a third of the bucket (not a typo) of moisturizers into the drawer.

Empties from the past week

Swartzkopft hairdye. Works just fine but doesn't leave my hair as soft as my usual brand so I'll be going back to that
Estée Lauder Advance Night Repair Serum. Holy grail. That's the last of my night serum stash. I'm down to one in use and one spare now. I will of course be repurchasing when I run out
Garnier Lavandin face oil. A light easily absorbed serum, smells wonderful. I'm trialling some others but this is my usual purchase
Palmer's Cocoa Butter moisturizer does the job nicely for my dry skin. I will probably repurchase when the stash has run out. It's easily absorbed and doesn't have any cyclo nasties in it (although this bottle is a few years old so I guess I'll have to check)
Simple Miscella Water Facial Wash I love this for the morning (it's useless at removing makeup), I've never found anything better for leaving me clean and fresh without stripping my skin of all it's natural moisture. I've got a whole pile to work through

@UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter - I think the solid perfumes are much more practical from a travel perspective. I am going to investigate the ones you have chosen later. J’adore diptique!!!

On a braver note, am clearing out skincare stash and donating a heap to daughters. My skin has changed. Thanks menopause. Daughters are scoring heaps of Hada Labo Hyaluronic serums which are lush, but not cutting it for me anymore. The Thank You Farmer is now my favourite.

Experiment627 · 05/06/2023 08:29

@Fraaahnces you are famous!!! You got on one of MN's mailshots!!!

@CherryMargo that's a very thorough review. Always good to read this stuff. @CinnamonCoffee you disapoint me! Grin

Fraaahnces · 05/06/2023 10:54

Ermagerd! I’m a style maven! Admittedly am wearing those shoes at this very minute and they’re wunderbar…. The peeps at Sephora also agree. (We won’t talk about the blush stick that melted in my car that needed to be replaced. Why is it always a favourite item?)

Experiment627 · 05/06/2023 10:59

@CherryMargo I am so glad you are feeling better about your stash 💗

I have an empty:

  • Aldi Lacura moisture shower gel jojoba & camomile: really liked this - and amazeballs price point (think was 69p!!!). I have somehow got a bit of a shower gel stash again - so no RP for the time being.

MavisMcMinty · 05/06/2023 12:16

Shower gels/bubble baths are one thing I always have to actively purchase, they’re not included in my beauty boxes very often, certainly not enough to ever have a surplus. The big beauty brands’ ones are madly overpriced, although in my experience the Elemis and Molton Brown ones are the bubbliest, so you don’t need much.

StarryNightAddict · 05/06/2023 13:09

Have some empties.

CeraVe hydrating cleanser. Good but won’t repurchase as not CF.

SDJ coco cabana body wash mini. Already repurchased full size but won’t be able to get it again as it’s been discontinued.

The ordinary hyaluronic acid. Unsure. Not convinced on the need for a separate HA in my routine.

and a few samples

Kit melatonin night balm. Undecided, but might be a good dupe for the Tatcha dewy skin. Don’t like the smell, but feels very nice on the skin.

Mecca cosmética to save face SPF 50. Will purchase a mini size as it didn’t give me a rash but neither did a few others after only one use, so will only get a mini for now.

clary · 05/06/2023 14:59

@OchonAgusOchonOh you did well with that chocolate lip mask! I have it and hate it - why did I start it? Do I have your permission to bin? Dd not keen 🤣

IndianSummer78 · 05/06/2023 15:06

One empty. A good rich foot cream when applied generously. No greasiness. A strong scent which I didn't like so I won't be RP

Definitely bin it. I was suffering through it as I'm a bit waste not, want not but the relief of getting rid of it was amazing.

CinnamonCoffee · 05/06/2023 17:13

I gave my chocolate lip mask to DD as bloody hated it! Yuck!

PomRuns · 05/06/2023 18:41

@CherryMargo so pleased that you are feeling better about your stash.
283 - you can do it! @FiveShelties

My interest is piqued re solid perfumes - must resist <but sound so practical>

Whoever came up with that idea needs to consider a career change.

Fraaahnces · 06/06/2023 04:41

I was thinking of you lot when I was at Sephora yesterday and I smelled the chocolate lip mask. (*disclaimer… I don’t actually like chocolate in the first place.) Eeeeew! (The gummy bear one is worse though. Smells like fake grape flavouring. Yuuuuuck.) I still adhere to this order being fab… 1) Grapefruit 2) Apple&Lime equally as good as Berry 3)Vanilla. I am waiting for the Pink Lemonade one to come out. (She’s pretty.)

I have two empties to report… 1) Purito Cica Clearing BB Cream. I use this as a “foundation” and it’s the bomb. I think this is possibly my fourth or fifth one. It’s been in my circulation for years. It’s always on sale somewhere and I rarely pay more than $10aud. I have used more expensive foundations and I have used other BBs or CCs but this gives they best finish. I can also wear this every day without it clogging my skin or causing any issues. It lasts all day in all weathers. It is also the most neutral beige I have ever seen. I mix it with the darker tan shade during the summer. (It’s rare to find a Korean BB/CC that’s dark enough for me in the summer.) I already have a replacement.
2) Ancient/Antique Stila Blonde Stay All Day Eyebrow Pen. 🤷🏼‍♀️The colour was good, but I am sure they’re all kind of the same. It kept drying out while in use so it had to be shaken with the lid on and left upside down. I won’t replace it, Obvs. I prefer pencils and have two already.

Speaking of pencils… Can we talk about sharpeners please??? Can anyone recommend a decent sharpener for eyeliners pleeeeease? Sick of having the ends chewed up.

BTW, this one is also lovely too. It’s slightly more expensive, matte and offers a little bit more coverage. Rather love it with a glowy base underneath. Lasts very well in the summer too. (Don’t recommend the matching pressed powder - instant hard pan.) The lighter shades even suit my DD1 who is very pale pink. (We call her “Piglet.”)

Got tempted to buy the charlotte tilbury airbrush pressed powder after a recommendation on here. It's a win! I tend to find pressed powders either too matte or too shiny/ glowy and I end up looking like the tin man. I think you're just supposed to lightly dust with those, eg hourglass, but I always over do it
This one is in-between, so perfect, and can br used all over. I tend to use a bit of the wonderglow primer with thos on top, have ditched foundation. Only quibble is ot could do with a spongy thing in the lid at that price, but they are cheap enough to buy separately
