I'm trying to get into the routine of wearing light make up most days even if I'm not doing much because it does make me look and feel so much better. It is a chore in the evening though.

Fraaahnces · 26/04/2023 16:00

@vjg13 - strangely, I am the opposite when it comes to makeup. I find it a chore schlapping it on, but find removing it weirdly therapeutic. (Meditative? I dunno - I loathe massages and pedicures, etc… this is the closest I get, I suppose!)

Three empties! All are staples from my vast k-beauty repeat list.

  1. Heimish All-Clean Balm (mandarin) - The jar looks like I licked it clean. Bloody love this one. I have a backup, but it’s my last backup. I am supposed to be receiving a freebie of the unscented one sometime soon. (Not as much fun to use, but free is good!)
  2. Rovectin Skin Essentials Conditioning Cleanser. If you are looking for the perfect, gentle foaming cleanser that doesn’t strip your skin or annoy your skin barrier, then this is your girl. It lasts forever, too. In a way, it’s boring to use because it’s unscented, the bottle is plain, the juice is plain, etc. I would repurchase, but I have other cleansers in my stash to go through first.
  3. Purito BB Cream. I have used up the one in my “summer” colour. Absolutely shot myself in the foot here. I currently don’t have any “foundation” at all. I do have a tinted sunscreen (Helloooooo Big Bird!) that I think I can adjust to suit by mixing with my glowy primer. I love this formula. I don’t know anyone who has tried this who hasn’t fallen for it. I am jumping out of my comfort zone and trying a different brand this time - just because they actually have a wider range of tones to suit darker-hued people, so I’m supporting this business emphatically! I also purchased their pressed powder to replace my Kosas disaster.(Here’s the news… it didn’t like being re-pressed.)
wheresmyshoe · 26/04/2023 20:16

21 & 22

L'occitane body cream. This seems to have lasted forever, lightweight and nice scent but not particularly long lasting effects. Not a repurchase.

Aveda shampoo, this is a staple and I will repurchase but I want to work through some of the random minis in my stash first.

Neom super shower power body cleanser. It was very minty. I ended up using as a hand wash.

Dr Salts recharge boost shower gel. I liked a lot. I do feel a bit guilty about plastic use so I’ll alternate with soaps.

One more empty. Radix bubble bath is a regular purchase and I'm finally down to one bubble bath in the stash

For some reason I use up all the random roll on deodorants at the same time, end up needing to borrow DH’s stinky Manspray (yuk - I hate breathing that shit into my lungs). There were four dead ones pootling about my room, bathroom and handbag today.

SwordBilledHummingbird · 02/05/2023 11:59

I was doing reasonably well at working through my stash but just ordered some perfume and candles at Liberty, which is ok actually, but now I have the GWP on it's way and that's going to really destroy my progress! I may have to consider selling any bits I know I won't use or that I'm not that fussed about, it's silly to use things I don't really like just because I feel I have to. I would happily give them away or swap but I don't have any friends or family who are into beauty products.

Has anyone had any luck selling things on? Is Ebay any good or does everyone use Vinted these days? Or is there still a swap thread on here? I thought there was be but can't find it now.

wheresmyshoe · 02/05/2023 14:16

I'm trying hard to resist that GWP @SwordBilledHummingbird I want a bottle of Do Son, def a want not a need and really fancy several of the items in the GWP. I could put the bits aside for a DIY advent calendar....

PomRuns · 02/05/2023 18:03

I didn’t resist, tried to justify it, couldn’t, so ordered anyway.

Experiment627 · 03/05/2023 09:33

@PomRuns been there, done that... sometimes we can but surrender 🙏🏼

@Fraaahnces this happens to me too - both sun lotions of Coolia finished on the same day.

I have lots of empties to report but will do once back in Blighty. We travel back today.

Fraaahnces · 03/05/2023 09:53

@Experiment627 - I also run out of bloody sunscreen at the same time. (And you know I have heaps of the stuff!)

MidnightMeltdown · 03/05/2023 23:29

I've been a bit slow on empties lately. Can't believe that we're already over a third of the way through the year!

29) Elemis Overnight Matrix - like this and may rp one day if I ever run out of face cream!

30) This Works Deep Sleep Body Cocoon - like but wouldn't pay £25 for it. 100ml doesn't last long.

31) Agera Salicylic Face Wash - This is something that I buy fairly regularly. I like this brand.

Total for the year 31/135

I don’t need anything at the moment, so I will let it go…

Randomly wandering through Harrods yesterday and somehow ended up in the Beauty Hall and in possession of the GWP. Agreed they’re generous with the valuation but the bag will make a cute beach bag! I really do not need any more cosmetics!!!

Experiment627 · 04/05/2023 12:25

I took away lots of small items on my holiday & have managed to use up most as well as some full size stuff - however... brought back LOADS of new stuff... only excuse is that a) marginally cheaper in Spain than UK and b) will make video content... I know I am on thin ice 🤣

So here goes:

  • Coola classic sunscreen spray guava mango SPF 50: really easy to apply and does not leave you as a grease ball. Just did not like the smell at all.
  • Coola classic face sunscreen SPF 50 white tea: really nice on the face but tastes foul (as do all sunscreens & no I am not eating them but a lot of creams "run" and leak into mouth... yuk!); really did not like smell here either.
  • Simple radiance booster SPF 30: had this for over two years I think. Was just using up last dregs. Found this really easy to apply to my 4 year old - also as 50 ml meant I can easily carry around. Not sure I will RP though given Simple being part of Unilever.
  • Peter Thomas Roth water drench SPF 45 moisturizer: used this on face and chest area. Really liked how it felt - basically like being drenched in water... again got yukky taste. I think I would RP as a face cream for a hot summer but not as a suntan lotion (not sure it is meant to be that TBH).
  • Nivea Good Morning Fresh Skin face mask: loved this! Was in advent & still have one more to use.
  • Kinship self reflect probiotic moisturising sunscreen SPF 32: made me look like a grease ball - thank God only enough for two applications!
  • Dermalogica dynamic skin recovery SPF 50: this was fine; again yukky paste
  • Superdrug nail polish remover pads acetone free: handy for when you are on travels

Thought I had more than that...

I usually only have one new product on the go, but because all my oils, serums and moisturisers ran out at the same time, I’m currently using 5 new brands altogether, and can honestly say my skin has never felt so good, but I don’t know which of these things is making the difference!

Codex BIA Nourishing face oil

Revolution 15% Vitamin C Powder serum

Dr Dennis Gross Lightweight Wrinkle Defense SPF30

Lumen Nordic Ageless Radiant Youth night cream

Evidens Night Recovery Solution

I hope it isn’t the sunscreen that’s doing all the work because I don’t much like using it, it’s very white when it goes on. Trying to race through it so I can open another moisturiser!

wheresmyshoe · 04/05/2023 13:52

I've cracked and gone for the Liberty GWP

vjg13 · 04/05/2023 17:35

@Fraaahnces My glittery snow storm lip balms arrived today finally. I do like them!

Fraaahnces · 04/05/2023 19:07

@vjg13 ! So pleased you like them!!! They’re pretty And Work well! I have had people at work ask me where I bought them. I might keep quiet until I buy the new colours.

Fraaahnces · 05/05/2023 01:15

I finished a bottle of Aura by Thierry Mugler EDP. I’m off to find another today. I hated it when it came out but now I love it. I was given a bottle and my first thought was “Eeeew! WTAF?!?!” and now it’s become one of my signature scents. I constantly have strangers asking me about it and complimenting me. I have the EDT and it is barely reminiscent of the EDP. I suspect it’s one that works with your skin chemistry or not. Meanwhile, I have found a very inexpensive gift pack available so I’m buying it today. I’d also consider Alien but can’t find a pack.

IndianSummer78 · 05/05/2023 02:55

One empty. It's from Tesco years ago. Decided to use it on my bumpy arms twice a week and it helped. I doubt it's available to repurchase but I have other scrubs in my stash

@FiveShelties
@Experiment627 You cannot have too much shower gel, you just never know when it will be out of stock!

You are not wrong there! I panic if I have less than 5!!!

Experiment627 · 05/05/2023 13:46

One chuck:

  • Collection Fast Stroke defining lash mascara: not great on, complete nightmare to get off. Think my dalliance with cheapo mascaras may have to come to an end.
