Ha! Just done the same and “slipped”. The bag is lovely and we do have holiday season coming …. I was too late last time and it had only been on for a brief time before it sold out.

My voucher just arrived too. Hoping for a spectacular September GWP, still salty about being too slow to get the one with the handbag......

<Lady Bracknell impression incoming>

A handbag?

Wow!

Bimblesalong · 04/07/2023 13:27

Tell us more about the handbag please. I wish to have regrets about something I didn’t know about until today.

MavisMcMinty · 04/07/2023 13:29

The Jet Set kit has a lovely washbag, but I’m not (yet) tempted to buy it. I currently have 5 big beauty boxes unopened, waiting for my birthday. I bought 3 of them myself, but have already forgotten what’s in them, so they will still be a lovely surprise!

EasterIssland · 04/07/2023 13:30

Me this morning I’ll buy nothing today
me at 1315 bought the glow kit! 🤦🏻‍♀️

im gonna keep the cash for the voucher that I got today for the Xmas calendar , I’ve nearly 140£ in the subscription box so hoping I barely have to pay for it this year.
how much was it last year can anyone remember ?

I read that last year’s was £240, but will wait for a thread expert to confirm.

I love the bag the new kit comes in but I don't know if I'm bothered about the contents. I'm going to have to look them up and see.

What does a glycolic cleanser do? Is it exfoliating? I can't use too many exfoliating products after giving myself a nasty chemical burn at the beginning of the year plus they increase sensitivity to the sun (I do wear sunscreen every day but I don't want to risk burning) and they make my tan fade really quickly....

MavisMcMinty · 04/07/2023 13:37

I exfoliate much less in the summer because of the increased sensitivity to sunlight - maybe a 10-minute mask once a week. In winter I go wild with the exfoliants!

BCSurvivor · 04/07/2023 13:40

With the Glow Kit, the email showed the cleanser is 150ml but the actual kit says 295ml - I'm assuming 295ml is right, and the email click the link cleanser is wrong?

YappyCamper · 04/07/2023 13:43

How do people know this fact that you can't rely on the SPF in moisturiser that's sold as having SPF 50???

I use SPF50 every day, it's never occurred to me that I might need to add another suncream. Seems bonkers.

I'm the same or at least I was until I gave myself that burn 😂I'll still exfoliate in winter but will be a lot more careful in future. I gave myself a really nasty chemical burn all along under my lip, which triggered a massive cold sore outbreak, which then got infected. It was really painful and looked awful too. It was months before it fully settled down and even now the skin there is a bit dry (but I daren't exfoliate it to sort out the dryness...).

It’s marketing bollocks to persuade you to buy two products instead of one. A moisturiser with SPF50 is fine for me in this country. I replace it with sunscreen in countries with fiercer sunshine. I also wear hats a lot.

MavisMcMinty · 04/07/2023 13:58

I use Ultrasun Face tinted SPF 30 or 50 all summer, and save the SPF moisturisers for winter. Ultrasun only needs applying once a day, while the moisturisers need reapplying every couple of hours.

This is what I do too. I'm very fair, though I do tan, and I've never noticed any difference in the effect of the sun on my face as opposed to the rest of me.

MotherofTerriers · 04/07/2023 14:19

Ok @Bimblesalong, one time they had 3 different levels of GWP, depending on how much you spent. The most expensive one had a high spend requirement but as well as the usual sort of stuff it included a Liberty handbag. I checked with my son which aftershave he was running low on and by the time he replied it had sold out. He still apologises when I mention it. Having said that, my friend also tried to order it and it had sold out, so my theory is they only had one or two of them.....

Uh-oh, a sixth parcel has just arrived, think it’s probably the Chosen by You kit that my Dad bought me (gave me the money for).

I’m actually not going to need an advent calendar this year, although that’s never stopped me before.

I disagree, though I have Celtic colouring. I wear SPF 50 Ultrasun Face Fluid everyday. I also use Tretinoin. No way would I consider just using a moisturiser with SPF.

notanicepersonapparently · 04/07/2023 15:03

I’ve read the link and been following the conversation. I just wonder whether the spf in moisturiser is in fact sufficient for me. An SPF 50 should enable me to be outside for 50 x longer before my skin burns. In the UK I’d say I’d have to be out for a couple of hours before my skin burnt (and it wouldn’t at all in the Winter) which would mean about factor 5 would be enough. So a thinly applied SPF 15 moisturiser will be enough to protect my skin particularly since I wear a hat if I’m in the sun.

Blossomtoes · 04/07/2023 15:04

That’s fine @Mercurial123. I don’t have Celtic colouring (despite being 75% Celt) and retinol scares the Bejasus out of me. A moisturiser with SPF50 works fine for me.

Bimblesalong · 04/07/2023 15:07

Thankyou @MotherofTerriers we can live in hope eh?

That's fine, but some of us do need extra protection. It isn't a marketing gimmick.

Peridot1 · 04/07/2023 15:44

Whilst I agree we are unlikely to burn much here in the UK except in high summer I wear separate SPF generally as protection against the UVA rays which are there even on cloudy days and can penetrate glass. I’m Celtic too. I also spent years using moisturiser with SPF and have sun damage. So for my own piece of mind I happy to believe it isn’t “marketing bollocks” to protect my skin as much as I can. But we can all make out own decisions without being disparaging of others surely.

Reinventinganna · 04/07/2023 15:44

I really want the new kit but don’t NEED the new kit.
