Sounds great @Reinventinganna Beauty Drop does that to you. Introduces you to a hitherto unknown (to you) perfume, that is also expensive. You try this elixer, then find your life will be incomplete without the full size bottle. Tis like the local drug lord giving you a freebie, and getting you hooked. Moon Carnival. That's all I'm saying. Tis the Devil's work. Grin

redredwineub40 · 23/06/2023 11:35

The beauty industry must be able to see a clear line from subscription boxes to boosted beauty spending - and it’s opened up a way to make money on products that perhaps haven’t shifted or launched that well.

I'm sure my expensive candle and bath oil habit has been massively stoked by calendars and boxes

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 23/06/2023 11:58

Yes @redredwineub40 tis true. Tbf I already had the habit before Beauty Drop. Percy & Reed was discovered by me from an M & S advent. Wouldn't have tried it otherwise, I suspect.

TreesinthePark · 23/06/2023 12:26

I love that perfume!

I'mtill saving my credit for another advent calendar. There are a few products from last year's advent I've loved but even with BD credit can't bring myself to buy them as a single item as they are so pricey!

redredwineub40 · 23/06/2023 12:39

That’s the thing the advent calendars and GwP are such fun and if you like retinol, or vit c, or HA the particular brand in the same price range doesn’t make that much difference.

Beauty advent calendar season is just another reason to love Christmas

Countmeout · 24/06/2023 08:25

I’ve just bought the Chosen by You bag as it’s now reduced and I like the Sunday Riley Good Genes very much and as it’s £70 everywhere it seemed like a no brainer.

hettiethehare · 24/06/2023 08:50

Interesting that the Chosen By You has been reduced - I wonder if there wasn't as much interest as they have released so many similar kits recently? I'm being disciplined and waiting for my vouchers to come through otherwise I'd probably get it.

RedCarsGoFaster · 24/06/2023 09:52

Agree @hettietheharethey released too many back to back.

Got the email this morning - the next boxes are out on 18th July! Yay!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 24/06/2023 10:07

I don't know if I just getting older old, but I keep eying up these kits, and mostly thinking that there are quite a few things I won't actually use, and seem to have too many make up/toiletry bags anyhow! Maybe partly because I am still horrified by the size of my stash, and trying to work through it, ideally by not having 6 of essentially the same thing open at once!

Countmeout · 24/06/2023 13:49

Well I needed a bag and will use most of the other stuff in it. Do we know what is in the July box yet?

This is so me

However Liberty introduced me to Davines hair thing and I will be forever grateful

I’m the same. It’s compounded by having found hero products in various calendars and GWPs over the years. Nothing will tempt me away from my beloved Filorga eye cream or Chantecaille mascara so anything else is wasted on me. I have enough Liberty bags to last the rest of my life.

HundredMilesAnHour · 24/06/2023 17:05

I think I'm become a bit jaded with Liberty and Beauty Drop. Maybe the next one will have some nice surprises but I'm fully (over?) stocked with Liberty bags and travel size stuff. I also get frustrated when Liberty don't actually stock the nice things they send us. I'll give it this drop and then make a decision if I should carry on or not.

Partly I've also lost interest as I signed up to the Haeckels subscription and am loving that so far. I will surely get bored with that too at some point (I have ADHD so get bored quickly) but Liberty need to wow me a little if they still want my money.

Blossomtoes · 24/06/2023 17:14

I’m not in it for the boxes. I used it as a savings plan for the advent calendar last year and may do the same this year. If not it’ll be a ruinously expensive perfume purchase. Like a pp I love the Peony Couture and am happy to spend my credit on that.

RedCarsGoFaster · 24/06/2023 17:18

I'm absolutely dreadful at saving money, so I've only got £40 credit at the moment, but I did buy a beautiful necklace and two of the kits.... 😂

I might think about putting money aside for the advent calendar, but I'm really not sure if it's worth it. Is it? Do people want to buy it each year?

I did it previously for the advent calendar but thought this year I'd blow it on Byredo perfume. But then I fell in love with a different perfume (Goldfield & Banks) that Liberty don't stock. So the master plan is scuppered....

Blossomtoes · 24/06/2023 17:29

I said last year that the advent calendar was a once in a lifetime purchase @RedCarsGoFaster. I really enjoyed it though so I’ll probably be tempted again. I’ve put the box away and will be filling it with bits for my stepdaughter this year.

redredwineub40 · 24/06/2023 17:30

I mostly as an advent saving scheme, but passed on the AC and found the post Christmas sale was amazing value.

I made the mistake of looking at Haeckels and am now oohing and aahing. What type of products have you had so far @HundredMilesAnHour ? I'm not so fussed on body products.

Ha @Cyclingmummy1 sorry!!

So far (so 2 boxes worth), we've had the Lab Spiraglow Serum (£72!), the Reef Complex Skin Oil (£34), one of their Japanese seawood soap blocks (not available to buy outside Japan) and and the WatchHouse Oat Milk Moisturising Lotion (£44) plus travel sizes of Eco Marine Cream and Marine Night Cream. I'm very pleased!

I've been a huge fan since they started out in Margate - clearly I'm the target audience - as I was delighted when they opened their second store just up the road from me in Broadway Market. I always use their face cleanser and their seaweed soap blocks (they're fabulous!) and used to always use the eco marine cream but they kept running out of stock (they were much smaller scale then and everything is literally handmade) but I'll go back to it now they've got more investment and their stock issues are resolved. I've tried quite a few of their products, some sadly are no more (they're constantly innovating which I love) and some I will be buying more of as now I get a 15% friends and family discount code to use (part of the subscription benefits) so it's a bit more cost effective.

Cyclingmummy1 · 24/06/2023 19:09

@HundredMilesAnHour blast! I was hoping you'd say things that I didn't want but you've got me at serum and skin oil. Oh well, off to subscribe I go...

Sorry @Cyclingmummy1! I hope you love it as much as I do. I realised after my last post just how many Haeckels products I have (and that's before I started my subscription). 😳😂

I love them. They undersell themselves hugely on their website. They do so much for the community, from building and managing a Victoria bathing hut/sauna on the beach that's available for free to the public, to recycling unwanted Christmas trees into candles, to giving a discount to anyone who's been collecting rubbish from the beach. They were asked to supply the amenity kits for First / Business for one of the big airlines a few years ago and they said no because that doesn't fit in with their ethos. They really are good people trying to make amazing skincare and perfume and do the right thing. (Okay, I'll shut up now - just to be clear that my only link to Haeckels is as a fan, nothing else!)

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 24/06/2023 20:12

@HundredMilesAnHour I've just been ogling Haeckels. Have you tried any of the perfumes? Very tempted by the subscription, which sounds a fab deal, but would just complicate my hoarder/stash situation.

@RedCarsGoFaster I've just had the one AC from Liberty. Although it was lovely, it added hugely to my stash, and I suspect I am someone who needs to simplify their routine, without compromising the benefits (ideally) and am getting a bit set in my ways when I find a HG product, so I dunno really.

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants I've bought the Blean Woods perfume quite a few times. Mainly because we used to drive through Blean Woods when I was a student and they scared the hell out of me (super creepy at night). Perfume was lovely! Happy to PM you my friends & family discount code if you see something you want to try (it doesn't apply to the subscriptions though).

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 24/06/2023 20:26

@HundredMilesAnHour that's kind of you! Yes please.
