Trainers again - what's cool?

I have white canvas supergas as a go to, plus multicoloured flyknit Nike for day wear. I'm looking for something stylish and more white/plain to wear with flares or pastel clothes. I just don't know what's trendy anymore. Any tips?

I have some Nike air force 1 in white and green that I wear a lot. Converse if walking less and some adidas superstars

silentpool · 18/02/2023 09:48

Prob not cool but I love my wool Allbirds.

Floisme · 18/02/2023 10:02

My tip is to either trust your instincts and just pick some you like or choose different footwear. Trainer buying seems to have turned into one of those games where the rules change every day and are written in Coolspeak and only known to a trusted few. It doesn't look like a fun game.

Nike blazers have made a big comeback.

I haven't bought them this time around but last time they were trendy (about 10 years ago, standard for Nike recycling designs) I had a couple of pairs and they were really comfortable.

Agree, they are super comfortable. I'm taking mine to Rome in April.

They all look exactly the same to me- lots of rubber and random stripes.

I like a trainer thread. Posters get very passionate about different brands and styles but I can't see the difference between any of them.

It's interesting to read with the comfort of knowing I don't risk being tempted to buy anything.

Vejas are worn by almost all the 40-something mums around here. Not a criticism, just an observation

TeenLifeMum · 18/02/2023 12:27

I like vans for casual non sport shoes.

Notcontent · 18/02/2023 12:30

What is the sizing like on the onisuka tigers?

I am usually a 5 or 37.5/38 in most shoes. My vejas are a 4 as the 5 was too big.

The Mexico 66 are true to size.

I just bought these - reebok classics - reliving the late 90's. I love them.

What does it matter if something is trendy or not? Surely you just buy what you like?

Notcontent · 18/02/2023 12:48

Thank you @Mercurial123

Seeyounextweek · 18/02/2023 12:48

I’d love a pair of Nike air max 1 Pendleton. Nike air max are so comfy .Seen a few on eBay, they have the classic Pendleton designs like the blankets & jackets. Can’t justify the £300 price 🤣

New balance 370s

20viona · 18/02/2023 12:49

327s I mean!

QuertyGirl · 18/02/2023 12:55

They all look like the cheap ones in supermarkets so what's the point?

Get soggy and grey as soon as it rains as well.

Bizarre choice of shoes for everyday wear

This!

"On trend" is a bit secondary school

Try Hogg. Super comfortable and look great

Are you having a laugh with those prices!

IntentionalError · 18/02/2023 13:00

Adidas classics, eg Samba, Gazelle, Stan Smith have always been & will always be cool because they transcend fashion.

What a weird thing to say. Millions of people wear trainers every day without them getting grey and soggy! They wear then because they're the most comfortable type of footwear.

But they're not waterproof and they stain after a few months.

Each to their own obviously but I genuinely don't understand wearing trainers other than for sport. Just looks impractical

Very few shoes are waterproof. Do you really wear waterproof shoes every day?

I have goretex trainers for when I feel it's necessary. For every day use I don't. My trainers rarely get that soggy or stained.

unici5 · 18/02/2023 13:09

I have these and love them so much I might get them in a different colour (Loewe). Very 90s vibe
