Only another month to go @Maireas before we can start the official St Patrick's Day Green Coat Sweepstake.

Mathilde seems to have endless combinations of various pearls for funerals & memorial services, she's been to quite a few recently! Today's occasion was the annual event for past members of the Belgian Royal Family, so quite appropriate that Delphine should be there I thought.

Just as an aside, how I loved Helena Bonham Carter's outfit at Vivienne Westwood's memorial service yesterday.

CliffsofMohair · 18/02/2023 00:22

Did someone sound the DELPHINE KLAXON?

love how unapologetic she is and how she seemingly owns the title and the role.

Delphine was given her first public hug by Prince Albert at that service! 💖
I love her boots!
We will have to keep a look out for her daughter, Princess Josephine. Her husband, James O'Hare (also in the photo) looks quite a character.

Maireas · 18/02/2023 01:02

Ok, we need to talk about those shoe boots....

gluenotsoup · 18/02/2023 10:45

I don’t like the shoe boots, but agree on Embassy London having some great shoes.
Love Mathildes hat and pearls.

pussycatinfluffyslippers · 18/02/2023 13:11

Put the "McDonald" outfit with those boots...
😱

Serenster · 18/02/2023 13:59

Victoria seems to have hit her stride a bit more in New Zealand - after the lovely orange trousersuit on arrival she wore this gorgeous pink dress and metallic shoes for a dinner in Wellington, then this (floral, but nice) H&M dress to visit Hamilton.

Yes, those are nice dresses. I like the pink on the left.

What is that on the woman in black's arm...is it an antipodean spider? I might have the wrong glasses on!

I think it's some sort of NZ ceremonial garment. I can't remember the word for it but Jacinta Ardern has worn one before.

I like everything about CPV's outfit - dress, earrings and shoes. I love the metallic fuchsia!

I just don't think COV makes the most of herself iykwim. The scraped back hair does nothing for her. A bit like PA, who I don't think has any interest in style and beauty.

KillingMeDeftly · 18/02/2023 18:30

I think CPV is interested in fashion as she does like to try new things from time to time and really looks good in formal wear. Princess Anne was quite trendy in her youth and I think appreciates quality in her clothes - they must be of good quality or else how would they all have lasted this long??

The only royal I would say genuinely isn't interested in style is Stephanie of Luxembourg.

TangledWebOfDeception · 18/02/2023 18:35

Yes I agree on both counts. Particularly Princess Anne. She definitely is interested in fashion; I just think she’s much more interested in other, more important things, of which there are many. Along with a healthy dose of not GAF/that posh sense of not having to impress people.

Serenster · 18/02/2023 19:04

KillingMeDeftly · 18/02/2023 15:14

I think it’s a modern take on a traditional feathered cloak (they are generally a lot longer) - like the stole-type one Jacinda Ardern wore to QEII’s funeral.

justasking111 · 15/02/2023 00:11

Darn they're putting grannies chips in the crown. I'll miss that brooch 😢

I think they will be able to be removed and used again as brooches. Tiaras seem to be designed to be adapted!

Looking forward to Kate tomorrow at the BAFTAs!

Does anyone follow Elizabeth Holmes (so many thoughts) on Instagram?

KillingMeDeftly · 18/02/2023 19:34

Yes, I follow her @hopeishere. I like her content and find her pretty balanced on the whole. I have the book she wrote on royal style too.

hopeishere · 18/02/2023 19:41

I used to like her @KillingMeDeftly but the comments under her post about Camilla's crown were a bit Confused but I guess she mainly has an American audience. She also over stretches the meaning behind stuff a bit too far!!

justasking111 · 18/02/2023 19:45

So the controversial koh i noor diamond is being removed from the crown, will it go back to India?

It's being replaced with the Cullinan diamonds which has upset South Africa.

So much diplomatic upset. Lab diamonds might have been the way to go 🙄

AdaColeman · 18/02/2023 19:47

Thanks to everyone for the information on the feather ceremonial stole, all very interesting.

Maireas · 18/02/2023 19:48

Thing is, the Cuillinan diamonds were an actual gift, so a bit harder to ask for those back. Who should own the Kohinoor?
India, Pakistan and Afghanistan all claim it. It's had quite the journey.
I say donate it to this happy group and we'll rotate ownership. Problem solved.

OP posts:
TangledWebOfDeception · 18/02/2023 19:50

Yes @Maireas! Anything else would be just as problematic as the current situation.

AdaColeman · 18/02/2023 19:58

I think the Koh-i-Noor is just being temporarily removed from the crown, and it will be restored when the crown returns to The Tower of London. I don't think there are plans to return it to India.

Perhaps we should cut it into several pieces and give each claimant a piece?
